Yes! It’s about time we disabled people are finally included in more rides that allow a wheelchair-dock in. There’s so many of us unable to transfer like everyone else, and this would mean the world to be able to finally ride!
I don’t use a wheel chair but the ECV, my knees are not able to climb down into the seat and then lift up to get out of. I miss a lot of rides because of that.
Put back the dropping must announcing Davies Locker at the beginning of the ride. Put back the winches for sale. Remove the multiple displays of wives chasing their husband’s around in circles. 1 is sufficient.
They better be bringing it back, I’m supposed to be going in April and this is one of my favorite rides, i will actually cry. I need to smell the water.. why would they close it??

I just was on the ride yesterday, as well as two times in January. Both times, Not everything was working properly. Not all the “chasing husbands” were working, jack sparrows mouth wasnt moving at the end of the ride, the flames on the pirates torches werent lit…etc I think it just needs a good refurb.

I agree. Disney World is WAAAY better. I live near Disneyland but much prefer world over land. Plus, the multitude of other locations and sights to see. The other hotels. The water parks. The walk around the world. Epcot. Hall of presidents. So much more to see!

Bummer that it is during Spring break. I went to Disneyland many times as a child and Pirates is my favorite ride and restaurant. I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to take my family and I finally have the chance and everything is closed! My favorite rides I have talked up and gotten them all excited to experience, the light parade & fireworks that aren’t opening till later in Spring, the Disney Hotel, and meet and greats, it isn’t going to be nearly as magical at all for their visit. 😭

I’m with you! We are taking our grandson for his first visit April 1st and when I heard Pirates was going to be closed, it made me sick. It seriously ruins it for me. That is one of the original rides left. I went every year as a kid and did the same for our kids since they were 3 and 5. Now taking grandson. Pirates, hands down is the best ride there. I don’t understand why the rides weren’t completely being refurbished for any mechanical problems during the whole time Disneyland was shut down. Why does it take that long to fix? The amount of money charged to go to Disneyland, the main rides should be open, especially during spring and such.
I didn’t like Captain Jack Sparrow. He ruined a classic. Some things like that Take-a-wench-for-a-bride part could do with a revision, but they didn’t have to introduce a bad movie into an attraction with real character.
I respect that you didn’t like the movie (you don’t have to like it), but there are many, many people out their who love the movies. I think most people are perfectly fine with the subtle changes of one scene with Barbosa and a couple of spot where Jack was thrown in that did not change the ride at all. The biggest change was the scene with Red and then the treasure room with Jack. Nothing else really has changed.
It is way too much money for me too go too Disneyland. I went when I was very young back then it wasn’t that much like it is now. Gas prices shooting up there you see more homeless people out there then back in those days I never saw any. Well I’m hoping that they help them by governing them homes they can sleep in then on the streets where children’s go too schools. Well that is all. There a lot of crime nose on every where. How sad & Covid 19 my Family’s been haven it other people’s baby’s children’s as well. It makes me feel sad. I got so much stress now then when I was a young gril. More sadness in my life now.

I agree it has gotten prohibitively expensive, but if you can find a good museum or nature park (those are my go to’s because I’m a nerdy bird who loves exercise and learning). Atlas Obscura sometimes really interesting and “never-would-have-known-it-existed” kinda ideas that I’ve found quite useful on my trips, even if it’s just in my state (Michigan which is just about as dull as humanely possible and far from basically everything when youre in Northern MI).

Return it to the way it was. I was a kid in the sixties and that ride was so awesome..became my favorite and I would use all my “E” coupons on it! Loved them auctioningboff the women and the “we wants the redhead” became a fun tease for me from my family for the next forty years of my life as I’m the family’s only redhead. I haven’t been back to Disney since they revamped it and I have never taken my daughters either…and will not until Disney comes back to where it used to be, a family park, not a political arena.

I remember when Pirates of the Caribbean was an ‘E Ticket Ride’ which was the highest level ride in a Disneyland ticket book (for all you young folks). Since then it was the highlight of my vist together with The Haunted Mansion in Rue Orleans. I guess the Haunted Mansion will be next to go, along with any future visits for me and my family. These two rides were my connection to my childhood while visiting Disneyland. Now for us it will be just another ‘Why Bother’ – so why visit at all. Just my opinion….
It’s not going away. Just being refurbished without a planned reopening date. It most likely is for mechanical repair or at least I hope that’s all they are doing. As long as they don’t take Jack Sparrow out, I’m fine. Don’t really go to Disneyland, but if they would take him out there then the most likely would remove him from Walt Disney World as well.

I read a couple of places that Johnny Depp owns the current incarnation of Captain Jack. It’s clearly him after all. And since Disney fired him, they can’t use that image. They may have to take him out.

Haven’t been to Disneyland in over 20 years; we had year passes, and when we realized our last trips were “wish we had gone to the movies/beach/water park/bookstore instead” we never bothered to renew them. I wish them the best of luck and thumbs up to those who enjoy it and want to blow that much money–it’s just no longer my cup of tea (even if the cups aren’t spinning).
It’s just maintenance required for the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride (if it takes a little longer than usual to repair what’s necessary? well, better that than breaking down all the time and having to rescue Park Guests).
Who knows, maybe there will be a better Entrance where the queue line won’t block access between New Orleans Square and Adventureland.
Were there changes made to Pirates of the Caribbean I didn’t like? Yes, but getting Team Disney Anaheim to put things back the way they were is as big of a pipe dream as telling Team Disney Burbank that Admission prices should be lowered AND this Genie + / paid FastPass needs to go
Why would your article title say “indefinitely “. Thats not what the article’s states. Its maintenance. And more than likely, updates. I hope the improvements dont take away from the Nostalgia, rather enhance it. One of the great things about being a parent is being able to share part of your childhood with your children and possibly grandchildren.
What I would like to see returned is the water ride 20,000 thousand leagues under the sea with improvements to the submarines for faster loading and unloading.

When i was a kid in the 70’s the ride Pirates of the Caribbean got shut down when we were there on a school summer vacation thing cuz a bunch of long hair(hippys) got stoned and naked and went swimming in the lagoon thus shuting down the ride. I think a refund would of been nice.

Disney keeps closing rides, but ups the price of tickets. I went to Disney a year before covid hit and half the rides were not working or closed and they didnt even bother to give a discount. Pay full price for half a park.

Bummer that it is during Spring break. I went to Disneyland many times as a child and Pirates is my favorite ride and restaurant. I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to take my family and I finally have the chance and everything is closed! My favorite rides I have talked up and gotten them all excited to experience, the light parade & fireworks that aren’t opening till later in Spring, the Disney Hotel, and meet and greats, it isn’t going to be nearly as magical at all for their visit. 😭

I’m with you! We are taking our grandson for his first visit April 1st and when I heard Pirates was going to be closed, it made me sick. It seriously ruins it for me. That is one of the original rides left. I went every year as a kid and did the same for our kids since they were 3 and 5. Now taking grandson. Pirates, hands down is the best ride there. I don’t understand why the rides weren’t completely being refurbished for any mechanical problems during the whole time Disneyland was shut down. Why does it take that long to fix? The amount of money charged to go to Disneyland, the main rides should be open, especially during spring and such.

I didn’t like Captain Jack Sparrow. He ruined a classic. Some things like that Take-a-wench-for-a-bride part could do with a revision, but they didn’t have to introduce a bad movie into an attraction with real character.

I respect that you didn’t like the movie (you don’t have to like it), but there are many, many people out their who love the movies. I think most people are perfectly fine with the subtle changes of one scene with Barbosa and a couple of spot where Jack was thrown in that did not change the ride at all. The biggest change was the scene with Red and then the treasure room with Jack. Nothing else really has changed.

It is way too much money for me too go too Disneyland. I went when I was very young back then it wasn’t that much like it is now. Gas prices shooting up there you see more homeless people out there then back in those days I never saw any. Well I’m hoping that they help them by governing them homes they can sleep in then on the streets where children’s go too schools. Well that is all. There a lot of crime nose on every where. How sad & Covid 19 my Family’s been haven it other people’s baby’s children’s as well. It makes me feel sad. I got so much stress now then when I was a young gril. More sadness in my life now.

I agree it has gotten prohibitively expensive, but if you can find a good museum or nature park (those are my go to’s because I’m a nerdy bird who loves exercise and learning). Atlas Obscura sometimes really interesting and “never-would-have-known-it-existed” kinda ideas that I’ve found quite useful on my trips, even if it’s just in my state (Michigan which is just about as dull as humanely possible and far from basically everything when youre in Northern MI).

Well (M) that really sucks. My mom had something like that happen to her. She got a Christmas card from her sister saying “we’re not sisters anymore” and who knows what else, a really horrible thing to do. Sounds you got the same. I’d say if people are treating you like then just walk away from them because sometimes that’s all you can do is walk away and build your group of close people who you can count on to treat you nicely and be there for you and you for them. Return it to the way it was. I was a kid in the sixties and that ride was so awesome..became my favorite and I would use all my “E” coupons on it! Loved them auctioningboff the women and the “we wants the redhead” became a fun tease for me from my family for the next forty years of my life as I’m the family’s only redhead. Quit trying to appease the few snowflakes who are offended by air. I haven’t been back to Disney since they revamped it and I have never taken my daughters either…and will not until Disney comes back to where it used to be, a family park, not a political arena.

I remember when Pirates of the Caribbean was an ‘E Ticket Ride’ which was the highest level ride in a Disneyland ticket book (for all you young folks). Since then it was the highlight of my vist together with The Haunted Mansion in Rue Orleans. I guess the Haunted Mansion will be next to go, along with any future visits for me and my family. These two rides were my connection to my childhood while visiting Disneyland. Now for us it will be just another ‘Why Bother’ – so why visit at all. Just my opinion….

It’s not going away. Just being refurbished without a planned reopening date. It most likely is for mechanical repair or at least I hope that’s all they are doing. As long as they don’t take Jack Sparrow out, I’m fine. Don’t really go to Disneyland, but if they would take him out there then the most likely would remove him from Walt Disney World as well.

Haven’t been to Disneyland in over 20 years; we had year passes, and when we realized our last trips were “wish we had gone to the movies/beach/water park/bookstore instead” we never bothered to renew them. It’s just maintenance required for the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride (if it takes a little longer than usual to repair what’s necessary? well, better that than breaking down all the time and having to rescue Park Guests).
Who knows, maybe there will be a better Entrance where the queue line won’t block access between New Orleans Square and Adventureland.
Were there changes made to Pirates of the Caribbean I didn’t like? Yes, but getting Team Disney Anaheim to put things back the way they were is as big of a pipe dream as telling Team Disney Burbank that Admission prices should be lowered AND this Genie + / paid FastPass needs to go

I hope the improvements dont take away from the Nostalgia, rather enhance it. When i was a kid in the 70’s the ride Pirates of the Caribbean got shut down when we were there on a school summer vacation thing cuz a bunch of long hair(hippys) got stoned and naked and went swimming in the lagoon thus shuting down the ride. I think a refund would of been nice.

Been saving for this since he was little. Why didn’t they do all these revamps during the last couple years of the park closures due to the pandemic? Already heard toon town is closed until 2023, would stink to not have any other rides were also all closed..
