Well when the guest has as much money as a celebrity, then of course they can do this 🙄

  2. CurtNorth

I can’t even imagine what this must cost, pure decadence. This would not be sometyto be proud of.

    1. skatebeer

      @CurtNorth I agree with you 1000%!

      1. Patricia Marurger

Sad to be so selfish. I wouldn’t do that even if I could

        1. Barbara

Agreed! Think of the thousands of guest (even those who’d traveled from foreign countries) who were unable to attend that park for a few entitled attendees. Pathetic.

          1. Jewelss

You can’t just show up and get into Disney these days, reservations have to be made in advance to get into the parks. So I am sure no one traveled
from a foreign country or anywhere for that matter, and was unable to attend.

          2. Sean

            You don’t know that

      2. Riot the rich

Sad when folks like this make what happened to Russian Csars seem like a good idea

        1. Must be nice ..its takes me a while just to save up to go when I can. Maybe once wvsry 3 or 4 years.

      3. Andrea Weldon

Entitled are they? I would have been upset and angry especially how much it costs to visit Disney these days.

        1. Bobbie

Yep, people save and save, then when they come… shut down because they do not want to mi gle qith the commoners? 🙄

        2. Goofy

Jesus christ, they paid to go to the park after closing. Take a breath.

        3. Joegolf

Didn’t any of you read that this was a party held BEFORE the park opened. No one lost a minute of regular time of normal hours of operation.
The writer did not have typos. Instead, the writer is a product of our public education system where they learn how to become good commies and trans everything.

          1. Jak

Dunno how you parsed that info. I reread it and it was not at all clear that it was before the park opened. All the writer repeats is that it was a wedding after-party.

      4. Kylie

Broke ass TRASH. A REAL baller would have flown them and all their guests to Disneyland Paris and given away complimentary Chanel bags stuffed with perfume… Cheap broke ass posers!

        1. Earache

As a world traveler and Chanel customer, I ‘d much rather prefer your wedding.

      5. I agree as well!

        1. I wasn’t agreeing with the above comment. I was agreeing that this is ridiculous

      6. Nobody22

        Weirdos

      7. Paul

        Some people are so disgusting

      8. Susan Jones

They’ll be divorced in 5 years.

        1. Ron

You’re a horrible person to say that. Disgusting!

      9. Memememe

So, they didn’t “shut down BECAUSE of one guest”.. they shutdown because it was closing time and then reopened for this party. So where is the story?

    2. Dr. Emmett Brown

Time to eat the rich if they can shut down an overly expensive theme park!

      1. Kevin R.

This is very common. My company had our Xmas party at Epcot. The park closed at 8pm and then we had the park from 8 until midnight. Universal, SeaWorld, 6flags, they all do this regularly.

      2. JeanT

Yep, how many hungry people could be fed….

        1. I so agree with you. I see lots of hungry people in food pantries. Elderly, disabled and houseless.

        2. Al

How many have you fed? First you need to do it before being critical of others.

          1. allie

bro some of us are also poor and can’t afford it. rich people can.

      3. Goofy

Lol, stfu. Someone paid to get in after park closing. Get over it.

    3. I find this to be an inconvenience especially when I have saved for 6 months! Doesn’t anyone agree with me?

      1. Pat

I agree with you. You plan for over a year, you arrive and see a closed sign. That would just really suck.

        1. Aj

A lot of good could have been done with that much money. Seems terribly self centered. Perhaps they do donate to various charities but still.

        2. It takes 5 mins to look it up

Hours of operation are posted on their website, months in advance.

        3. Ptorq

“Sorry folks, we’re closed. Moose should have told you.”

          1. Carlton Banks

Lmao! Why did I read this in John candy’s voice. Disney is not shutting a park down during normal operating hours for anyone. You can pay through the nose to come early or stay late but that’s about it.

      2. Bobbie

Yep, people save and save, then when they come… shut down because they do not want to mi gle qith the commoners? 🙄

        1. alexa

hi i was there and it was actually at 2 am. are you going to disney at 2am?

      3. Ruthanns1014

Absolutely. If I had saved for months/years to come and some little brat shut down the whole park my children and myself would be furious

      4. Weirdo

How so? They paid a small fortune to use the park after it closed. Why are you mad at that?

    4. Stephen

JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU WHAT DISNEY CARES ABOUT NOT THE EVERYDAY HARD WORKING PEOPLE WHO HAVE TO SAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO TAKE THE VERY OVERPRICED VACATION JUST TO WAIT IN LINE FOR HOURS AND BE TREATED LIKE CRAP VERY SAD MABEY THE COMMON FOLK SHOULD BOYCOTT EVERYTHING DISNEY

      1. June Newton

I agree 100% percent since he took over the ceo idiot he has ruined Disney

        1. Black Tammie

I guarantee you that o’l Walt himself is turning over in his grave at what people have done to his dream.

          1. Gern Blanston

Black Tammie – Walt was cremated, so no turning over in his grave will be happening.

Also, this was outside of regular park hours. The park was already closed to paying guests.

            -Gern

      2. I agree! I have 2 children who will probably never see Disney. Every time we get close to saving enough to go just can’t stomach the cost. I in turn use the money to pay car and house insurance for the year and still save some or buy a cheap used car cause that’s the budget we have to live on. Thanks Disney for supporting working class parents, not. And on that note I’m canceling my Disney Plus.

        1. I’ve taken my kids to all the Florida parks, and I’m as poor as a church mouse! I always drove down in my minivan insteadof flying. It took planning, but I NEVER paid for a hotel. I’d look up timeshares that offered free accommodations AND tickets. Yes, I had to listen to a 90 minute sales pitch, but I’d just take the kids with me and tell them to whine after an hour. I’d tell the salesman No and leave with my tickets. Sometimes I’d have to buy tickets for one of the kids. If you know a Florida resident, they get tickets cheaper. We stayed in some GORGEOUS timeshares too, with kitchens and 3 bedrooms, pools, free breakfast, etc. If the park offered a writband food deal for around $25, we got them because one meal is almost that. We’d eat lunch AND dinner there. It all just takes planning and patience. My kids had some GREAT trips to Disney, SeaWorld, Universal, and Tampa Busch Gardens. I never would have been able to afford it any other way!

        2. Leslie

You not going is your fault, not Disney. You said you just can’t stomach the cost. I’ll probably never go either but oh well…..

        3. Destiny Thompson

I wish I could afford to take my kids just once!! So every one who are mad that the couple who chose to have their wedding this way are probably just bitter! I personally wouldn’t do it but who knows if you have that much money I guess anything is possible! I don’t blame them! However like I said I just wish I could afford to take my kids once!!

      3. franklin

The common folk can’t afford most of what Disney has to offer except maybe their streaming service.

Also your caps lock key appears to be broken and you can’t afford a new keyboard either.

      4. You ought to look up what kinds of things Disney supports. I have read quite a bit over last couple of weeks. It may turn your stomach even more.

      5. Gern Blanston

STEPHEN – I spelled your name with caps lock on so you would feel more comfortable.

This was outside of regular park hours. The park was already closed to paying guests.

Also, what company doesn’t care about making money? Non-profits do not count!

        -Gern

    5. Myran

Events begin 2 or 3 hours after the closing of Magic Kingdom park.
There is a $30,000 ceremony fee for this location.
10 to 300 guests, including the couple

    6. Former disney manager

Disney does shut down the park early and kick all the regular guests out. For a fee. Yes, the closing time is posted, but who would think to look that up? I always thought it was wildly unfair to regular paying guests. But a buck is a buck, right?

    7. Ginger

The fact that the “writer” of this “article” didn’t even bother to mention cost shows why I used quotations to describe what I’ve just wasted my time on.

    8. Kevin

Can you imagine what it will be like to be married to the woman who wanted this? YIKES!

    9. Dawn

That is rude and uncalled for. No need to use a racial slur because you think poorly of someone and their choices. They paid a lot for the wedding and the AFTER hours party.

    10. Heather

I believe it was $180k just to rent it out. Not including all the vendors. I saw the Tik Tok video.

  3. Heidi Kohne

This shouldn’t be allowed, even though it is a private company. It’s already hard enough for guests to experience everything in the park in normal operating hours, and a narcist wants to close the park for just themselves. I hope it’s done so that park just opens a half-hour or one hour later than usual so that the public isn’t too inconvenienced.

    1. franklin

      >This shouldn’t be allowed, even though it is a private company

Of course it should. Companies exist to do one thing, make money. If someone is willing to pay $$$$ to enjoy the park with a few selected guests why would anyone say “no you can’t do that.” That argument on its face is just completely silly.

  4. Christian

Was it actually shutdown though? Out of curiosity my wife and I looked at Disney wedding packages and part of one of the high end packages is a reception at the Magic Kingdom AFTER HOURS, so after the park is closed to guests the wedding party and guests are allowed to come in. Pretty much all Disney wedding packages prioritize the everyday guests over the wedding party. The only priority treatment the party gets is they have the option to pick a ride that they get to skip the line once if the wedding takes place during normal operating hours. My guess is they didn’t close down the park for the wedding, and the original poster was misinformed or lying to seem cooler.

    1. Anonymous

That is exactly correct. It’s not like they closed at 3pm or all day. The park was already closed. It was most likely after 10pm for the ceremony alone. People are so jumpy and nasty in their opinions. Thank you for keeping an open mind. No inconvenience was made in the making of this wedding.

      1. Johnny

More folks are jealous despite their cries that they wouldn’t do this.

        1. Waldopepper12

I wanna say no n ur wrong but….

  5. Self inflated egos without any sense of money or self worth.
Disgusting is a mild adjective. Get a grip.

  6. Cecilia Rabelais

Another reason we won’t be going back. If I had spent my money on reservations, tickets, airfare, etc., and used my vacation time to go to the park only to be told it was SHUT DOWN by ANYONE for a private event, I would be LIVID.
Just because they have the money to do so, doesn’t mean the park should allow it or inconvenience their other “poorer” paying customers, that may have saved up for years to afford to visit the park.
I know families that scrimped and saved forever to afford to take their kids there.
I also know people that got married there. After a small reception in the castle, everyone change clothes and went on to experience the park together … waiting in lines, like normal people. They still had the time of their lives without interrupting everyone else’s vacation.
And, why should celebrities or rich people get the park to themselves? They are not special. Well known or have money, but just like everyone else. They get dressed the same, eat the same, drink the same, and, believe it or not, use the toilet the same as the everyday person.
If they don’t want to be noticed, they should have chosen another career. And,they have enough money to close a entire park, let them pull a page from Michael Jackson’s book and BUILD THEIR OWN.
The downward spiral the park has taken the last few years is bad enough. Now this “shutting down” just adds another red flag not to go.
Oh, and Mr. CEO of Disney, instead of giving yourself ridiculous raises, shutting down parks for private events, building new multibillion new attractions, what about maintaining the ones you have now, hiring more staff so your hotel guest will get the amenities you charge outrageously for, but do not deliver, restoring the “free” transportation for Disney Resort Hotel guests, (which everyone knows we paid for in the fees and no longer free, fast passes, which were also included in the amenities fees, and free hotel parking for hotel guest, who are already paying your higher hotel rates. Quit using “Covid” as an excuse to price gouge to line your pockets with money at the park goers expense. And give your “cast members” a much needed raise.

    1. Kelly

You have to book a reservation in advance. If you made it all the way down there and purchased tickets before you realized the park was closed, that’s on you for being an idiot.

This article did a poor job explaining what actually went down. Weddings usually get a sliver of time before or after park hours, not when paying public guests are there.

I agree they should pay their cast members more, but your other demands are kind of hilarious. They are a business and making decisions to benefit their business. Throwing a hissy fit because rich people can pay more for a more private experience demonstrates you do not know how capitalism works. If you’re looking for a non-money driven experience, Disney has never been the place for you.

      1. Phyllis Browne

        Yup, you said it perfectly!

      2. KC

Kelly, I totally agree! Well said!

      3. Anonymous

Thank you Kelly! Some of these people are so negative. If yall dont like it, dont go. The last thing the most magical place on earth needs is more Karens.

      4. Cindy

Actually I believe this shut down was recent and their excuse was some award thing. People had to leave the park by 4:30 if I remember correctly. If this is the actual reason, shame on Disney.

        1. CSWms

Cindy, I have been a cast member for 8 years and I remember one night Magic Kingdom held our Cast Member’s Award night only select members and their families were invited and allowed to go. I heard about it the next night’s shift (I’m a night bus driver and I love it). Again, just like everything else the park was not shut down on anyone it was one of the nights that Magic Kindgom closes early anyhow and two hours later Cast Members with 20+ years; that’s right 20+ years committed to making other people happy on holidays working away from their own families so people wanting to go to a theme park on Easter, Christmas, July 4th etc can go. SO, there was linen covered tables, servers and an evening under the stars for these select wonderful dedicated Cast Members to receive their beautiful Disney Designed statues just for them. I am hoping to continue for 12 more years but at already 58 years old I’m not sure that will happen for me. It is nice to be appreciated when that time comes. Even before Disney started their reservations I would tell my friends when they asked me “when is the best time to come visit out there?” I first told them to decide how many days they wanted to spend and which parks they wanted to spend their time. Then go on the website and see the hours of operations. Magic Kingdom because it is focused on the younger family members is usually the first to close. Epcot where the alcohol and most adults prefer to go is usually the last to close. With exception to when we have the additional ticketed after hours events. Even with those the park closes by 1am, usually midnight.

Wondering of all the complainers on here; how many of you went your senior year to themed parks after hours? I know my class of 1982 did! We, us seniors (with the help of many parents but I had to save my work money and my parents matched what I saved) anyhow I lived then in California, northern up near Oakland. About an 8-10 hours drive to Disneyland park. So, the seniors who took the trip flew to John Wayne Airport and loaded school buses first stopping at Knotts Berry Farm wearing casual clothes, not closed to the public. We had a set amount of time there then we loaded the same buses and were taken to Universal Studios for a few hours. After that we all loaded up and we went to a Catholic School where we used their locker rooms to change into semi-formal clothes and then bussed to Disneyland were we had a park shared with a total of (if I remember the number right) 25 other schools that all paid for admission from MIdnight to 8am. Then we boarded our school district buses that had driven down to pick us up for the long ride back to Oakland. I didn’t think twice about anyone that I might have inconvenienced for our paid/earned right to be there at those hours. It was awesome we met and made new friends some I still have contact with 40 years after graduating and I still have my pooh with cap and gown and 1982 embroidered on the hat!

My suggestion when paying big money (or little as any is difficult to save) make sure you read all the fine print. Double check times, dates, don’t go when you think it will be more crowded. Most of all take your patients with you so you DO have a good time. Do not be in a rush. Be happy for someone else; just because you couldn’t do something be happy for the ones that could. It makes you feel good inside.

    2. SeRickJr

      Don’t believe everything you read!

    3. I so agree with you! I would freak out after saving my hard earned money! Then to be told that the park that I want to visit is shut down!

      1. Sharon

It was after hours. A very popular live streaming was streaming at the end of the night as folks were leaving and it showed them setting up for the event. It was AFTER hours.

    4. Andrea Weldon

Touche. Honestly they crave the attention. That’s why they are celebrities. They just want you to know they are there. Many celebs can blend in by not acting privlidged and dressing normal.

      1. Leigh

Yeah, they “shut down” Meanwhile over 100 people arrested for trafficking in Disney.

    5. Melissa

My husband company hired characters to come to the beach club we got private meet and greets FIRST TIME ever both Elsa and Anna, mickey and Minnie, Belle and beast and woody and buzz all together in photos as groups . And private meet and greets if you have money , you can do anything godless them they can do it and it’s always after park hours

    6. Bobby

      Jfc IT WASN’T SHUT DOWN!

Disney wedding packages include private access AFTER THE PARKS CLOSE!

Keep your panties dry, boys and girls. Sheesh!

    7. You ought to Google Disney and see what they support. That ought to make it where you don’t want to go back. I might be wrong but in the news last few weeks there are people calling for a boycott of them,Hulu and some others.

    8. Dawn

The Weddings and receptions are AFTER REGULAR PARK HOURS. Someone that was there said that it was 2 AM while they were there. AM. Not during the open hours. Not sure why this is so difficult for people to comprehend. All you have to do is look up WDW Weddings, it’s something like $30,000 for the package. And you get the park AFTER it closes for the day.

  7. SeRickJr

I have a hard time believing they actually “shut down” the entire park… It looks like an after hours thing, you do know that anyone can capture a video with whatever they want to say. It doesn’t mean it’s the truth. There is zero proof this was 100% factual in a 30 second video.

    1. Cindy

It happened in the last few weeks.

  8. Trent

Disney doesn’t close magic kingdom for weddings.

  9. Vicki

I think it’s ridiculous that people spend a year or more sometimes saving for a vacation to have it cut short by a celebrity, try explaining to your kids why Miley Cyrus gets the park to herself today and we go home tomorrow, no discount no warning just lots of hard earned money wasted so a rich spoiled human can be more important

  10. Former Disney CM

I worked for Disney as an events Cast Member. Rarely do the pre-planned events interrupt the day guest experience. Weddings and parties occur frequently before or after park close.
As you can imagine, these events are very expensive. CMs are paid just fine for the experience and educational background required for particular roles. If you want to earn more with the company they will pay for further schooling. You have to put in the work to get the reward.

  11. Not a sheep

Made up story. 100% after regular park hours.

  12. OzonePark108

She didn’t shut down the park lol.
She likely had a Disney Fairytale Wedding and this was likely her dessert party or reception.
This would have to happen after park closing so no she didn’t shut it down lol it was after operating hours. Good for her that she has the means to do this and include her friends and family.

    1. Married at Disney

You commenters need to get a grip and get over yourselves. It was after hours, and no regular, hardworking park goers were inconvenienced or putout by this. Your jealousy levels are off the charts.

  13. Ben

I honestly think it’s ridiculous what this says. I really don’t care if your a celebrity or CEO or someone special. You cannot close down a theme park because of a wedding. People already have a hard time booking trips to the park as is. To me its just being selfish.

  14. Cindy

Just googled closures. Magic kingdom has closed early (4:30) on Feb 8 and an upcoming date – may 3. So you see, it happens a lot more frequent than most people think. As a paying customer expecting to do magic kingdom on a particular day and watch the fireworks to to find out it is closing early, I would be livid. And I’m sure Disney does not discount the ticket for that day.

    1. Mike

Those 4:30 closures are for cast member service award parties. The cast members that have dealt with rude and snotty guest like you for 20+ years.

      1. Aidan

Mkay bud, that’s your entitlement speaking.

  15. Karen Hunter

There’s a bunch of broke Karen energy here in the comments.

First of all every guest has to make a reservation so no one is saving for months and years to get surprised they can’t go on this one day.

Second why are you so mad that someone has the means to treat themselves and guests to something nice. Every single person that says they wouldn’t is a bold face liar.

    1. Backcountry164

First- You couldn’t pay me to go to Disneyland. Even for a private event. Literally barf. So, I certainly am not a liar.
      Second- It’s bald-faced not bold face…

      1. franklin

Cool. More space for us the next time we go. Do you really promise to never go? It would be awesome to keep your word like that.

      2. I totally agree with you. Go look up what Disney supports. In some news stores they some are calling for a boycott of Disney, Hulu and other things. Please check it out. I haven’t been to Disney since I was a child. I won’t say how long that’s been. I would rather spend my money and vacation elsewhere. Those that are Gaga over Diane I just don’t get. Of course there’s a lot of things I don’t get anymore.

    2. Winston

Maybe the world doesn’t revolve around you and your hunt for the Karens?

  16. Steve

This wasn’t the reason. That was for a party celebrating long term cast members (10+ years). This “shut down the park” happened after the park closed for the day. They do one every year.

  17. Anonymous

The negativity does not belong at Disney. The parks aren’t shut down for events like this, they are done after hours. And the events that do shut the parks down early are advertised months in advance. You have up to 30 days to modify your plans at Disney World. So if you dont like it, dont go. Sorry they are trying to make back some money lost during the pandemic and keeping people employed in a hard time all while making someone’s dream come true. I’m sure none of the negative people here have ever been demanding while visiting or used the term “well, this experience hasn’t been very magical”. Fairytale wedding guests pay a lot of money for their dream weddings, it just sucks that people are so jealous that these people can afford it so they will tear them down. Friendly hint, it doesnt hurt them. They are happy. Maybe you should find a way to be happy too without putting others down.

  18. I’ve spent my entire professional career writing and teaching English in it’s various forms. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with “theirselves,” as it is simply the nonstandard/dialect form of themselves.

    1. Brian

Mark, I think you mean “its”, not “it’s”.

      1. Stfu

No, “it’s” is correct because it’s possessive. English has various forms. English; therefore possesses various forms. English and *IT’S* various forms.

        1. The Divine Mrs. M

Nope. Sorry. Certified English teacher here, with a degree in English Language Arts Education and 7 traditionally published novels. “It’s “ = “it is,” whilst “its” is the possessive form. Mark got it wrong.

    2. Aaron

Your incessant need to include slang in your articles diminishes your credibility

  19. Everyone

Disney had after hour party for seniors for high school celebration, it was called grad night. And those so upset, the park is shut AFTEr regular guest hours. Good for the happy couple, (envy and jealousy nasty monsters fot the poor me comments), congrats hope it was fantastic!!!

  20. ark_keeper

Saw another video on this, they said it was midnight to 3am, so no, it wasn’t shut down.

  21. Nansiiii

Wow ! If you can afford to, go for it ! I hope they had a blast and live happily ever after ! You only live once !

    1. Wow

Correction, you do not only live once. You live every day that you wake up in the morning. You only die once, that is if you don’t believe in reincarnation. I am so sick and tired of the notion “you only live once” again on the contrary, you live every day you are alive.

  22. Deb

Please do your research. Disney does offer wedding after parties at the castle after the park closes. Not cheap. But this couple in no way shut down the park. You are getting people all worked up about the MK being closed for their vacations that they spent thousands for.

    1. Goldie Levine

      ppl are idiots.

  23. Papageorgio

As if being an adult at Disney world without kids wasn’t bad enough

  24. Foster

    Hell no 🙄

  25. EntitledClown

Puke. Some rich clown – let the rest pound sand.

  26. Jeff

Walt wanted a place parents could spend a day with their kids…..Or let a Bridezilla shut down and keep those parents out for their wedding nobody gives a crap about. I bet it’ll be an expensive divorce too.

So much misery, jealousy and bitterness in the comments. Weddings are common place at disney and if she had the dream and means to do something extra for her special day, why does that make you all so angry? Because you can’t?
If you have saved up for 6 months to go to Disney surely you’d go on the app/website and reserve days where the park of choice was open and available regardless of reason, which you’d be none the wiser to had you not stopped and read this article.

Also the parks have had limited entry/hours in some cases due to covid & other reasons, but yea, off with the brides head for your non-existent “inconvenience” 🙄🥱
Anyway, this seems to be after hours or at least the latter hours and this affects none of you in anyway. Stop being haters. Best wishes to the bride & groom!

  28. Sonya

I’m curious how much they would cost. I just spent 1k to take my daughter for 3 days.

After spending money on flights and hotel, I would be livid if another person shut down the entire park.

  29. Rita

Oh grow up! Do you think you are Cinderella for real? You may have ruined dozens of family vacations with your self infatuated ego.

    1. Lori

The weddings are at 5Am and out if the park by opening, or at 10PM after close. They do not interfere with guests at all. This includes celebrities

  30. CJA

Goodness, these must be incredibly rich people! I’m all for having fun, but I would rather put this much cash into buying a house.

    1. CD

And you should save for a house if that is your plan. These folks prioritized having a Disney wedding. Different strokes for different folks…

    2. If I had enough money to close the park for MY kids, I’d ask how many people I was allowed to have in the park. Then I’d invite needy kids from a local school with an A average or kids from a Boys/Girls Club. I wonder how many kids live near Orlando, but have never been able to afford to visit its parks!

  31. Fox

“Closed down” or “shut down” is often used to describe being at the park until the very end, so when they say they “shut it down,” it just means they got to stay up past their bedtime. 😉

  32. Lori

All weddings at the parks are scheduled for before opening or after close. Guests are not inconvenienced. They are typically at 5AM or 10PM.

  33. Shawn

This happened to me the time I went to WALLY WORLD!

  34. Marcus the Real

    Unwarranted and conspicuous consumption.

  35. RyeBread

Sooo crazy people acting like other guest were kicked out or not admitted….wrong, Disney closes at a certain time and after hotel guest (that get an extra hour in the park) if you stay in Disney leave you can rent the park. Yes very large amount of money but not what people think. I’m from Florida and never had to save for a year or months to go to a theme park in Florida. Calm down with the comments low taxes and low cost of living here, just move plain and simple

  36. Bob Aboeey

    Privileged people or what?

  37. Kay

Some people have too much money to make sense

  38. Gary

These social media addicts seriously need beaten half to death.

  39. Rus

Disney has never, and will never shut down a park for a guest.what you witnessed was a pre opening event that did not disrupt the parks regularly scheduled operations.

    1. VWS

And they were serving hot dogs pre light? They do, do this and I have seen it. Sorry Russ…

      1. Julian H

They do indeed do it, a few years ago, we had to leave the park early due to a private wedding event in the evening, that’s all well and good, but when Disney don’t reduce your admission ticket and charge the same as a full day, I do get annoyed with Disney, just like today’s greedy board, its a double charge, one for us and then for the party guests after, but Disney do not need to do anything extra for it.

    2. DK

      Yes, they will.

    3. James

Elizabeth Taylor and Michael Jackson had parties at Disneyland

  40. Wow

Absolutely not, not only is it an insane amount of money to waste on such an evil corporation, there are far better places for destination weddings.

    1. Jim Larson

Indeed they are evil. They are supporting anti gun rights as we speak. Unconstitutional law passed with Disney’s funding.

      1. HJ

        Good.

  41. Deborah Metzger

    Theirselves??
That’s not a word. I cannot trust a story that uses a word like theirselves.

    1. Exactly! I call this a bunch of BS!

  42. Joe

    And that’s your jealousy speaking.

  43. bob robins

And fact-checking skills. They dont close early for weddings.

  44. Michael Shimer

I bet they still didn’t get to ride a parking lot tram. Bob Cheapek, where’s the damn trams!?

    1. franklin

They returned at DLR last month. The people in Florida are being taken for chumps when something so simple hasn’t gone back into service on both coasts.

  45. Mammon has been brainwashing this company and others…In fact alot of the celebrities are taking Mammon’s bait..

  46. Debbie

First off, you have to make a reservation for the day you want to go to any Disney World theme park. So you wouldn’t be showing up to a closed park. This has been in effect since the parks reopened after COVID. And Disney allows private parties in their parts after closing hours. Plus, you don’t know these people, they may very well donate money to charity. I couldn’t afford a wedding or party there, but for those that can, why not!!!

    1. Bib

You’ve saved money for years to go. It’s a once in a lifetime trip with multiple generations of your family. It’s a day you planned in the Magic Kingdom well in advance. Upon showing up you’re told the Park is closing early. I think you might think differently then.

    2. Like I said before Mammon one of the 7 princes down below the earth has been corrupting people like Disney with Greed and a bunch that are favor of this seems like Belphegor gotten into you also..I mean he’s the weakest of the hierarchy down below The Earth

  47. Bib

Doesn’t seem like the wonderful, inclusive, equitable Disney that Disney preaches.

  48. KittyToonzes

My sister’s company had a trade show at Disney annually and it was fairly normal to have catered after parties at one of the parks after regular hours.

I think a lot of people are hating because these fools have the kind of money to waste that Fortune 500 companies do on annual client events.

  49. I so agree with you. I see lots of hungry people in food pantries. Elderly, disabled and houseless.

    1. Kevin

How many and how much have you?

  50. I thought this as well. But little town paper that my Mom sends me needs an editor. Scary when you think about it.

  51. Winslow

Meanwhile, a billion people in the world don’t have toilets.

  52. DV

The title is very deceptive. It wasn’t shut down, it was after hours. Yes they had the park, but it was after the park closed.

  53. walt

Yes but what they don’t tell you is before they let the park they had already filed for divorce.

  54. Kev

Is it my mistake or did your article leave out the most important curious thing: THE COST?

  55. Chris

$30,000 and it happens after the park closes down at it’s regular hours. No closing early. If y’all took the time to click the link that said learn more about Disney weddings y’all wouldn’t be writing so much non nense of things you don’t have the facts about. Simple research people keeps you from looking ignorant.

    1. Kim

Sorry….I’ve been there when things were closed down for vanity parties.

  56. Mike

Why not go a theme park that hasn’t priced most people out? It’s not stupid to ask too much, it’s stupid to pay too much.

  57. Minna

    oooh showoffs, we love it!

  58. Kim

Want the park to yourself? Great! Then rent it after hours. I don’t care who you are or why. You’ve no right to disrupt the vacations of thousands of others for your vanity parties.

  59. Cancel please put it in microwave your hamster

  60. Lisa

Find out what you say is TRUE before you say otherwise!

  61. People die at Disney

    Lol

  62. Charlie Wauters

I think it is an extreme disservice that to the ordinary patrons. The old adage that”moneytalks” sure does apply to Disney.

  63. Amanda

JC get the story right. No one “shut down the park” this happens AFTER the park closes for the day. Also for everyone who’s curious if you look it up it’s $30k to do this.

  64. Poop

    No one cares .

  65. Renee

    Gross!!!

  66. Joe

People should sue for plane tickets, vacation stay, fuel, and hotel stay etc. If you paid in advance and can not go.

  67. Lori

    What a waste of. Money.

  68. Sharon Price

Must be nice to have thousands of dollars to spend frivolously. The people who have 9 to 5 jobs, 7 to 3 jobs, 3 to 11 jobs 11 to 7 jobs and people who have to work around the clock can not afford luxurious like this. A total waste of money and a slap across the face to those working Americans who are the backbone of this country!!

  69. JC

Disney completely ignored the Uyghur genocide that was occuring in the same area at the same time that they filmed Mulan.
But, leave it to Americans to completely care less about slavery, torture, murder and genocide as long as they can get their cheap Chinese entertainment.
I’d be willing to bet that everyone of you fools crying over this story are the same hypocrites hollering about equality, just before you sit down in front of your Disney+ show.
    America…The land of hypocrites.

  70. Brandon

The writer must get paid by the word count tand not the content.

  71. Christie

If I were a paying guest, I’d be pi$$ed off. My money is just as good anyone else’s.

  72. Mel

    How much does this cost?

    1. Amanda

      $30K

  73. Renae Delabarcena

Very sad and disgusting that Disney would do this! Bad behavior and entitlement!

  74. Mach

Well one thing they money can’t buy is the kingdom of God!!!!!

    1. Tee

      I know that’s right

  75. I hate reading articles by this publication. They take to long to get to the point, then never tell you what you came to read!

  76. Zammer

Only for Rich and Entitled people can do this not for everyone. Having a Disney vacation btw is not for everyone. This is a business to make a profit.

  77. AJ

Nothing but BS drama. Nobody “shut down” anything. Disney doesn’t care who you are, you WILL pay them! Your precious friend “rented” out the theme park. It amounts to nothing more than that. It’s something literally anybody could do if they had nothing better to do with their money.

  78. Rich Eubank

Were they just wanting a wedding? Odds are the marriage after won’t last.

My wife and I got married at a cheap chapel at South Of The Border in SC. Our ‘after party’ was lunch at the Sombrero with her mom and dad. That will be 50 years ago next month.

  79. Justin

I’ve been to a corporate event at Disney that closed part of Epcot for our company. This happens AFTER park hours, so at the time the park closed to public at 10pm so we from 10 until midnight were allowed to ride the selected rides as much as we wanted. They did not close the park early for this person’s wedding, but it definitely costs a pretty penny to do so.

  80. Lynda

Totally Self absorbed…and Self indulgence…what a piece of work those two must be!

    1. J

I mean, if you have the money go for it! Who cares. I hope they had a great time! Some of you seem jealous. Stop getting your Disney panties in a bunch.

  81. SAMMY

Chicago Art Museum has weddings, they close off the party with gates, not allowed to go any where but party room. Just show off my party is _________

  82. Robert

Greedy, shame on Disney! There should be no special guests. Ego!

  83. Steven

But these wedding attendants were white and I thought Disney was all about equity? Where’s the black wedding? I hope they offer a black couple(ideally gay) an equally large wedding even if Disney has to foot the bill because they could definitely afford it.

  84. Wanna have a party at the park when it’s closed, and you have enough$ to rent to excite Disney excecs to keep it open just for you..that’s great. Other than that, SHAME ON DISNEY WORLD for even allowing such nonsense.

    1. MB

That’s nice..but there are homeless people.that sure could use help..there are American veterans..who are homeless..you have a right to spend your money..but..REALLY..use your money for a good cause..im sure your marriage won’t last long

  85. Bob

This shows exactly what the upper income bracket can easily afford a tax increase.

  86. Rick

When Princess Diana took her children to a theme park in England. They stood in line like everybody else. Shutting the whole place down is selfish. What happens to people that planned a vacation? Was this for the whole day or just a few hours?

    1. Mike

Calm your tits. It was an after hours rental

  87. Duba duba

Oh no mom`s was working extra to go to Disney world 😢
    (Yea I’m 7)

    1. Duba duba

      For the guest
      I HATE U ********ER NOW F**** of B****

  88. Will

Disney OFTEN closes parks early for any type of event…just for the $$$$$!!!!

  89. Tee

    Right

  90. Cola

Why are we always being told what a rich person is doing? Do they need our applause? Do they need our validation? Is their life boring if people aren’t envious? Idk…

  91. Alex

Did they shut it down or did they keep the lights on after the park closed? Big difference

  92. Layanne

I would love to have my wedding and after party at Walt Disney.

  93. FUKaren

It was the best thing ever? What kind of selfish, entitled, ignorant, stupid ass person says something like that? F— her wedding party. Other people paid to get in there and deserve to enjoy themselves, you obnoxious Karen ass b*tch. Shame on Disney for allowing this, and shame on this idiot wedding party for doing it. I hope your marriage is a sham and ends badly. And I hope every one of the wedding party people gets cancer, aids, herpes, and covid. Fkn jerks!

    1. Mike

Calm your tits. It was rented out after hours.

  94. DixieCup

Why get married in the first place? It’s cheaper just to live together.

    1. Mike

Exactly. Marriage is just a piece of paper.

  95. J

Wow did you know not just celebrities can be filthy rich who knew

  96. Jaime

So who was the guest? I didn’t see a name anywhere in this story. If there is no name then who cares who the “one guest” was

  97. asc

If the two being wed are as big as the backdrops and props of their wedding, it’s fine. Most are not.

  98. EMM

Of course. Disney caters to those who can afford to self-indulge. The families who save for years to give their family a once in a lifetime vacation have that vacation shortened because 1 or 2 people are narcissistic and Disney has no issue reducing the experience for the many to appease the rich. This is NOT Walt’s vision.

  99. Ronnyb

Diana Ross once rented an entire floor of the Grand Floridian Hotel at Disney for her and her entire family

  100. Cate Becker

So what happens when the Commoners arrive for a fun (and expensive) day at WDW only to find out one of the Parks is closed for the sole pleasure of someone rich?

  101. Parker

That is being selfish to shutdown Disney like that

  102. McJesus

If that’s the case then they should refund all the people that traveled long distances to go too Disney World that day. You’re gonna shut down because someone has a wedding. Nobody obviously knew about the wedding and they’re just gonna randomly close down a park people paid good money for. Wouldn’t you think it would be a good idea to SCHEDULE the wedding letting people know that the park will be closed? Common Sense🤦🏻

  103. Nunya Bidness

Disney’s kowtowing to the Red Chinese is abhorrent. I have visited their (vastly overrated) parks in the past, but never will again. Dupes.

  104. Josie

I was actually supposed to get married there. But the wedding got cancelled, and I did not get my deposit back. Read the fine print. But it was a dream wedding.
