Disney needs to have the “no phones on rides, ever,” rule. That guy should have been immediately removed from the ride then the park and banned for life.
Universal studios does it for certain rides but this idiot should be banned. He could have already a cast member off the ride and tuinrd it for others.
I think it goes without saying that this guy received a lifetime ban. He could have easily injured/killed himself or someone else. You can replace a stupid phone. The normal thing to do is stay on the dang ride til you offboard and then notify a cast member that you dropped something on the ride.
Ridiculous! Its rather obvious that this putz think their phone is more important then their life. There would have been a law suit if this guest got hurt. Universal studios has lockers so guest are instructed to put their phones in, this is something Disney should invest in
If Disney hadnt made needing a phone in the parks so important this might be a problem that could easily be resolved. I havent been to Disney since 2012. I assume everyone video tapping rides must be super annoying.
There’s always going to be people that are really dumb. You can’t fix stupid, so don’t penalize the rest of us with more rules! I hated that no phone rule at universal- it was very annoying.
I hadn’t seen this story before. But man.. how stupid can you be?
But to tell you a cute one you haven’t heard; way back when my now 38 yr old daughter 12, we rode the Matterhorn, she was little for her age and sat between my husband and I. My husband had a big vhs video recorder on his shoulder to film the ride. He gave my daughter his Indiana Jones hat he just purchased to hold. He told her if it flew out of her hands not to worry, it’s just a hat. So as the ride was almost over and we’re still in dark she says, “oh no daddy, I lost your hat”. He said it’s okay, I can get another. As we got into the light she threw her hands up with the hat and said, “just kidding”. It was hilarious that she even thought of doing that.
And we won’t discuss the idiocy of the video camera. But every time we watched that video over the years you can hear her little voice saying that.
1) if you lose something tell a CM! Most of the time they will find it and return it…either to you, your room if staying on property, or to the lost n found at the gate. My friends daughter even received a camera she lost by mail!
2) if you absolutely have to have your phone out during a ride, you can purchase a “phone wallet” that is on a strap that hangs around your neck! And yes, you can still take pictures or record with it in the case!
Funny story…in 08/19 we were at WDW and I lost my cheap dollar store straw hat on Splash Mountain. It was no big deal because it was cheap. But fir some reason the ride had a brief shutdown and as we sat there low and behold my hat floated by! My son reached out and grabbed it! It was soaking wet. When we got off, one of the CMs gave him the thumbs up…they really do watch the rides!
Years ago, my camera got slung on the Cat in the Hat ride. I know it was there because I rode it again just to look for it. Even though I told them exactly where it was(not difficult at all to reach), I was told I had to check at the front office in the AM to get it. We did as instructed, but surprisingly NO CAMERA was turned in from that specific ride. Lesson learned for me!!
Good idea but there will always be morons who believe they are far too important to follow such rules. Lifetime ban is important to at least make an example of him. I’d actually love it if the parks could sue HIM for endangering other lives, but that is very, very unlikely.
It obviously isn’t a cast member since the guy isn’t wearing a costume. Maybe he was next to a much bigger person and was able to slip out of the safety bar.

So should they take your phone from you before you go on the ride?

I don’t even believe this story is true. Those seat bars would not allow him to get out. That man in the photo is probably a cast member.

Please don’t post an old video and label it as new to meet a quota.

What did he think, after his ride vehicle left he was going to take the next one?

Is it me, or are people becoming more and more Stupid with each passing day.

Can’t blame the guy. I lost my phone at Sea World. Showed them right where it was, filled out the lost property report and they never returned it.

This is 4 years old….scrapped the barrel on this one didnt we.

This is probably the only time I would thank a moron cause I love behind the scenes stuff

A friend and I jumped out if it’s a small world at Disneyland. It was fun. We jumped back into the boat after we ran around a while.🙂🤭
