In my mind, it is a collective failure. Clumsy, confusing, does not deliver, does not satisfy customers’ needs. Folks spend lots of money to travel to, stay at, eat at, iDisney in order largely to enjoy attractions. I have felt thwarted by the tiers, by the time constraints, and the restrictions on enjoying the parks.
Also bothered by a sense of survival of the fittest mindset that rewards those who can navigate a system that I have not mastered at all although, it is certainly true that the early birds always snagged the worm before others could.
This is odd. Genie+ should work better than fastpass being that everybody had fastpass, but not everybody pays for Genie+, so there should be fewer people in the fast line. Back in the fastpass days, everybody got 3 passes. So now, everybody should get more. That is, if only half the people get Genie+, then those people should get an average of 6 Genie+ rides. So why isn’t it working? There can be one reason. The Genie+ selling system algorithm isn’t working right, not releasing passes when it should have, letting a lot of passes go to waste. This is unfortunate. Back in the days of paper fastpasses, the system worked great. I miss those days.
I hate Genie+
Get up at 7 am for only one LL, with no certainty of getting what you want.
Then spending the rest of the day with your nose glued to the Disney phone APP, ignoring your family and not enjoying the park.
It’s so stressful and confusing.
Get rid of Genie+ and bring back 3 Fast Passes, please.
My last visit to the “Magic Kingdom” was a disaster! So crowded you could hardly move-the stroller parking lots were overwhelming. It was a Monday at the end of Jan 2022. Hour waits for attractions that are starting to look really tired! Spend a few bucks on the Space Mountain pre-story…it looks like it was built in the 70’s
Completely agree with these comments. Genie + was not worth the money. If you want to do the good rides, just pay for the individual Lightning passes (especially for the Avatar ride). They give you little to no direction on how to use the app or Genie + so the first day I was unaware I needed to try for a spot right at 7 a.m.. After that nearly everything was booked up until 9-10 p.m. at night. I spent my entire day glued to my phone trying to frantically book the next one as we stood in line for the first. It just sucked. I was able to use it 4 times total in 2 days at the park for mediocre rides. Disney has the parks so full and trying to up charge customers at every turn that it’s hard to see the “magic” in any of it anymore. We took our kids last week and won’t be back again. Not worth it. The most fun we had there was at the resort just relaxing.
Sigh, “Lowering Expectations” seems to be the catch-phrase for Disney these past couple of years. Another contender would be “Less Fun for More Money”.
My Partner and I have old cell phones and the Disney app cannot be used on them. We are going in June with family who have cell phones that the Disney App can be used. So they will do it for us. Other then that I am winging it. I will be going to the parks one day by myself. No Genie, no meal reservations. I want o stress and will have whatever fun I can. I had my cellphone 3 years ago and used the Disney app. I was miserable, had my head stuck in my phone and all I care about was get to my next appointment. It was a job. I am retired, I do not want to go on vacation and have it be a job. Depending on my experience, this might be my last time going to Disney. I have better things to spend my money on.
Fast pass was far superior to “lightning lane/Genie+/etc…….as a season pass holder, in the past you could reserve 3 fast pass attractions per day many days or even months in advance, and that was included in your pass. Now you pay, are “expected” to be there very early so you “might” get 2 or if your really lucky 3 rides………and you can’t plan in advance of getting there……..how in the world is that better? More profitable for Disney? Yes. Better for the consumer….NO!!!!!! Pay more, and get less seems to be the new thing……not sure it will be worth it for me to get a pass in the future…..

A little confusing. The quote’s verbiage actually says you can typically use 2-3 LL per day- not Genie+, like your verbiage says.

What a waste of time money and energy Disney put into this garbage!!! Bring back the paper fast pass. Please!!!!
