This is what happens when people have to wait HOURS to ride a ride or get something to eat. Disney has lost the art of crowd control. Getting people on the rides, off and on to the next one without standing in a line for an hour or more. The parks need more rides and shows (that are working) as well as new rides suitable for ALL of the different ages. Instead Disney is now much more interested in getting the park visitors into the shops and buying merchandise…AKA: the almighty dollar. They have forgotten that happy park visitors, who are enjoying themselves and being entertained are much more likely to spend money than bored, tired, angry visitors!

With Disney taking a financial hit the last 2 years, more of a emphasis has been placed on “What can we do to gain more dollars” instead of finding a balance with an enjoyable experience and making a profit for the company and the employees. I remember last year there was a issue with a female jumping off a ride to grab a fruit that made it all over the media. Standing in long lines can be a pain especially with kids. My wife got injured with a girl using a motorized scooter and accidentally bumped into my wife causing injury to her leg which is another issue.

The fact that Disney was willing to give bonuses to execs but not pay their cast members a higher wage says a lot.

Just arrived back from WDW and had none of these experiences, thank goodness!!!

We visited all the parks two weeks ago for our fourth and LAST vacation there! It’s always been an expensive vacation but they have crossed the line so to speak with the new lighting lane system. Basically, just another way to take money. Even though it was a moderate week, the lines were 2 plus hours long on anything worth doing. I believe it’s the lighting lane causing the lines to be long because those folks pay to cut in front!! Also, the restaurants booked completely full so our only real choice was $55 each pre-packed lunch. I’m not going ever again. Jim

I was at Disney last week expecting the worst; however, had a pretty good trip. Only one time at Epcot did we have 3 young adults cutting rope drop to get to Remy’s. I think the authors read a couple Reddit posts and making it out to be a big issue when it isn’t. Also, We bought the Genie + and once I figured it out, it was fine. Works better in Epcot and Magic Kingdom than the other parks. We did buy a lightning lane for Remy’s to make sure we were able to get on the ride. Cast members were great and had several good experiences with them. My biggest issue was that my room wasn’t available until after 4pm.

It’s a different type of guest now at the parks. Many are rude and feel entitled. Not sure what’s happened but people are just angry these days. Maybe it’s two years of lock downs and control. And after midterms it’s going to get worse. Enjoy your few months of freedom before it’s taken away again. I feel sorry for the cast mostly.

There are so many YouTubers that record rides and talk nonstop for their videos. I dont want to be on the same ride with them.

We experienced this on Pirates of the Caribbean in March 2021. Very annoying. My husband shouted a lot to try to ruin their livestream.

I was there Sunday and had a wonderful time!!! It is what you make of it. If you choose to only see the negative and complain then you will not enjoy your time. I have always spent my time waiting in line and it was fine. Don’t go if you expect to go straight on. Don’t be negative for anyone else

Yes, a teen watched TikTok during Star Tours. She never looked up at the ride & it was hecka loud. I asked her to turn down the volume. Strange to wait in a 30 minute line just to watch TikTok.

We just went a few weeks ago. I am a serious Disney lover but I left very unhappy with our experience. I did feel like I was on my phone all day looking at genie plus instead of actually enjoying. I had to use my portable charger. We also went to Universal. We really enjoyed it and my phone was on 50% plus when we left because I didn’t have to be on it to see what was our next ride. It breaks my heart that I didn’t feel the Disney magic this time.

We just got back from our first and probably last trip to Disney World. The crowds were insane! People were staring at their phones and either stopped in the middle of walkway or would just run you over. They were rude, along with many cast members, especially in the magic Kingdom. That was by far the worst park ever. The app is a complete nightmare. It freezes, schedules wrong, doesn’t navigate, etc. And yes, the people talking at the top on their voices in line, on the rides, the blaring phones in line and the screaming kids all day long. Should have spent the money for a tropical vacation at the prices Disney charges now. What a joke.

I’ve been going to Disney since it opened and brought me great joy and fun every single. Fast forward to the last five years it has become a nightmare. Rude guests, entitled abusive guests..perks taken away for staying on property, quality of food gone down smaller portions, it’s not worth the aggravation. The prices are unavoidable its ridiculous. Back in the day you could go to disney for 5 days, stay at the deluxe hotels, with min meal plan for a family of 4 for a total of $500. When big companies put their own needs ahead of the guests it comes down to the dollar. One last thing since when have you ever had to make a reservation ahead of time to the park you wanted to go to? This was NOT the vision of Walt Disney. It is no longer the happiest place on earth.

but what can WE do about it?

      Or are we POWERLESS?

The Disney Genie and Lightening Lanes has taken so much fun out of going to Disney. You get up early and hope you even get to try to get a spot on Rise of the Resistance Lightening lane as the wait times are awful. I was just at Disney, not at a resort. When time came to attempt to purchase lightening lane for Rise, they were sold out to guests staying in Disney resorts… the que never even became available and there were 2 of us trying. Also, trying to find times for other lightening lanes takes a lot of time burying your head in your phone. Disney needs to ditch Genie plus but they will not because it is no longer about the Magic… it is all about the Benjamins!
