Never thought I would see Disney saying to guests, “stinks to be you.” I read another article in which people on the fake star wars cruise arrived at Galaxy’s Edge and were told that Rise of the Resistance was broke down, but you can have an alternative adventure on your smart phone. What is with this company?
I paid $7 each for my son & nephew to ride Space Mountain. Just before boarding the ride it broke down. They ended up waiting just under an hour for it to resume. They were told if the left they would forfeit their LL+ purchase.
Paper fast passes don’t exist anymore, as confirmed by your own article, so why would anyone expect that? I bought a LL for Ratatouille and it broke down. They ushered everyone in the LL line back through and gave us all new LLs via our Magic Bands that were good the entire day for any ride (including Ratatouille). They were doing the same things for people who were on the ride as it was being evacuated but not sure how they were handling if those people didn’t have a Magic Band.
Sorry Tricia, that comment was meant on the main article and not to refute anything you said. Sorry to hear your experience on a broken ride wasn’t as smooth as mine.
We paid for ILL for Mickey and Minnie’s in Jan. When we got to the front of the ILL line which took 15-20 mins, the ride broke down. We were told about it but left standing there while we waited a further 5 mins and were issued a return ILL pass for another time. So, we paid for a ride we had to then wait in line for twice. Took up a bunch of time and we had to reschedule part of our day as we had planned on being elsewhere.
Compare this to 2019 when Jungle Cruise broke down and we were given three fast passes for any ride. Lickety split. No questions asked. Wondering if Genie+ just doesn’t have these allowances in place.
We were due to go to Disneyworld Sept 2020 then reschedule Sept 2021, but with another cancellation we decided to get a full refund, as disney is with all the charges to rides, parking in resorts & parks, , we won’t be going back to Disney, disney is using a pandemic to charge more for their parks, it cost more for overseas people traveling even the booking in advance for parks & rides now with genie plus they gone the 60 days, on resorts 30 days off site you have to be in parks to book on the day, this is impossible for those overseas as by time they travel the dates & times are gone, there is nothing on what they done with disabled people if DS passes is still available , DISNEY GOT GREEDY AND NOW FOR THE RICH NOT FOR WHAT WALT DISNEY SEEN WHEN HE BUILT DISNEY PARKS, IT WAS FOR ALL FAMILIES TO ENJOY NOT FOR THE RICH ONLY
We won’t be going back to fill the new CEO pockets we just can’t afford it anymore just Greed & won’t pay those cost to pay to get into a park then pay also for rides, this is why there is consistly large queue, as people won’t pay for lightening lanes
Wait till the 1st summer & the holiday seasons happens as this will be the 1st after everything gone back , let’s see how disney will cope with the long large queues due to Disney charging for lightening lanes that people won’t pay when you already pay to get into the park 😡😡😡😡
Sorry to say, it’s that expensive for everyone. It’s ridiculous…. as for booking LL times, it’s the same across the board so everyone is stuck in the same boat there too. Sadly the prices go up with the demand for higher wages, it’s only going to keep getting worse.
We went to DW in November. I have a DAS pass which allows me to schedule 1 ride at a time via the app so my party enters through the Lightning Lane. We were on line for Pirates when it broke down. After 15 minutes everyone with a LL pass was given a pass for another ride – except anyone with a DAS pass. We were told it “isn’t the same thing” since I didn’t pay for my pass – yet it works the same way. Way to discriminate!
Disney needs to wise up and admit that genie+ was a mistake. Bring back fastoass. If they insist on making money off it then they should make it free for resort guests and have everyone else pay like $25 each day for their entire party. People will be much happier.
Disney has changed over the past two plus years, and not for the better. Disney no longer cares about the park guest nor their families. To day, it is all about generating revenue for the corporation. People need to gain a real world understanding of the change. I have been a Disney park guest for over 50 years, and I am done with Disney. If Disney wants my money, they will need to earn it.
Pre-covid I waited in line for Under The Sea at MK with my three small children for at least 45 minutes. We were close to getting on when the ride went down and they made us all leave. They did not offer us fastpasses and when I inquired about one they said no. So yeah, I was pretty annoyed. I think it depends on the cast members mood, honestly.
Just got back from a week in Disneyland a couple weeks back…The parks were packed so we had our fair share of ride breakdown issues…
We paid for ILL on Rise and at our scheduled return time walked up to cast member telling everyone that the ride would be down for an undetermined amount of time…I asked what we should do about our ILL and they said they’d be honored at any return time before park closing, provided the ride gets running again…If the ride remained down we “might” be able to get a refund by calling the standard customer service line…That was a total shock to me…Luckily we were able to ride the thing a couple hours later but I was still amazed that I was told that by a cast member…
Meanwhile our breakdown experience on Radiator Springs showed a different approach…Bought ILL for it, lined up and the ride broke down for about 10 minutes or so…Got running again and we got all the way through the ride when it broke down again right before we would be exiting the vehicles…Waited about 5 minutes for them to let us off…The cast member here was extremely nice and did in fact issue us replacement ILL passes for any ride to be used before park closing that day…
So I’m thinking this is totally a cast member issue…They clearly have the ability to issue the passes but maybe get pressured into not doing so by management? Maybe it just depends on the mood that particular cast member is in for that day…
DL vs WDW too, the parks handle it differently. I’ve been to both and from my experience DL is more accommodating to the customers than WDW. So odd that the two parks are so different.
We go to both DW and DL. In DL we asked to ride in the “front” car of the Monorail where you have a 180 view and it was closed. Cast member gave us 2 fast passes. On day 4 our tickets didn’t scan and delayed us 20 minutes into the park, they gave us 3 fast passes. We have NEVER gotten that at DW. Any inconvenience is just a wash there.
We were there in December and had the pleasure of Rise Of The Resistance breaking down on us 3 different days in line, about 7 hours total wasted standing in line trying to ride it. Eventually got on a “complete” ride on the 4th attempt. But each time it broke down we were given a Lightning Lane Pass, and also another when Expedition Everest went down while we were in line.
Pretty much the same here: waited 1h in the 40 minutes line of frozen, it broke down and we were just moved out. I even asked for a fast pass for later: no.
Comments for Is Disney No Longer Giving Guests “FastPasses” Following Ride Breakdowns?

I guess $4,800 doesn’t buy what is used to…

You are so right. Covid is the excuse of a lifetime for greedy companies who are only concerned with their financial gain.

We had been told they no longer issue fast passes for ride break downs numerous times. I only time we received one was when we were on a vip tour.

The magic is gone but as long as they are at park capacity Bob will just keep screwing the guests. Disney is all about profits now…
