Sounds about right. There were a few of them staying at the place I work for. They were all beautiful from the outside but only a few were from the inside and that’s including the adults.

    1. Jason

These people were lucky it wasn’t me or my friends working that day. Security would have been on sight yand they would have Ben escorted out.

      1. Barbara Ganschow

Rightfully so! Conduct yourself thoughtfully or get your thoughtless self “escorted” out of the Park!

        1. Sarah

I’ve actually witnessed cheerleaders get in a fist fight, in uniforms, crying and fighting over a boy…. In DISNEYLAND! they for sure were escorted out of the park. I never thought I would witness bloody cheerleaders in Disneyland lol

        2. Charisse

Oh gawd! Seriously you don’t think they know what they are doing? Each athlete has to go through qualications in order to compete at the level they do. Don’t start judging unless you know the type of training they go through. And the parents are going to let their kids get hurt. We don’t pay $15k- $25k per year for our kid to get hurt and ruin their chances to for Worlds Champion title and scholarship to college. And there is difference with these cheerleaders. High school is nothing but side line and non serious. Allstar is very serious.

      2. Peter Parker

        Lol. Riiiight. Real sure. 😂👍🏻👌🏻🖖🏻

        1. Uncle Ben

STFU Peter, you self-entitled little tw@t. You’re probably one of these idiot cheerleaders the article is talking about.

      3. NDR

Why just escort Ben out? The rest of the group was just as bad.

It’s clear why you’re a lowly security guard, your gpa and iq are both in the single digits.

        1. Doc

Wow NDR, I bet you feel so good about your comment to Jason. By the way… In general, common nouns are not capitalized when they’re written out as words, but the abbreviations are ALWAYS capitalized—whether they’re units, elements, or acronyms. Make sure your GPA and IQ are correct.

      4. Samuel

Cheer groups are not allowed to do formation in the park ever. it goes against the rules they have to follow. if cheer groups are doing this security is called and they can get kicked out and their school/cheer group could be band for not following rules.

    2. Andy

We were there for the baton twirling championship over the president’s weekend, cheerleader were around due to a comp the weekend before I think, most were no issues at all but we did see one group get asked 3 times to stop doing stunts and lifts in one of the parks, it’s a shame because these idiots give other teams, athletes and the sport in general a bad name

      1. Cheer Dad

There’s always a few bad apples in every crowd. Just understand that these comps often have 20k + cheerleaders so if you’re only seeing bad behavior from a couple groups them I’d say that’s a good number of kids not behaving poorly. Too bad the article and comments don’t paint that true picture.

      2. Charisse

Baton twirling is NOT cheerleading. That is apart of band.

    3. Barbara Ganschow

I have had a few Instagram “Moms” (able to reproduce but not nurture) use their battering ram strollers on me to get their spawn in the “picture perfect “ spot to show what a lovely accessory this wee one was to their trip to the Park😢Being a senior with a mobility disorder I do not need these pushy thoughtless sorts knocking me over. I dislike having to cause Cast Members more work in helping me and paperwork and first aid. Please behave or begone. 😢

    4. Rhonda

      More of Disney’s WOKENESS!

      1. mercury

        Huh?
I mean I know this is a low effort post on my part, but I’m honestly not sure how this even applies here.

  2. Chris Wood

The only one putting the park guest in danger are the guests themselves, who I suspect are standing around watching this spectacle. I have every confidence that Disney knows and gave permission for this. At the very least Disney should have blocked off while cheerleaders were entertaining

    1. Alicia

I cheered for almost 2 decades. Did you read where this was? Disney isn’t stupid. They would NEVER give permission for this. And your own comment show exactly why. They would have a MASSIVE liability suit on hand if someone got hurt and they allowed this without proper mats and a performance area without keeping out other guests. NO, they did this of their own volition exactly for the reason they gave the CM. They just wanted a quick shot of them doing stunts in front of the castle. Some teams are aholes and don’t care, they’ve been doing it for decades.

      1. Phil

Disney should have stopped them and told them if they continued the POLICE would remove them and they would be barred from future visits

        1. Noel

I was at Disneyland this past Saturday and I was in the Main Street Arcade and one of those cheerleaders pushed me from behind, didn’t even say excuse. Just came up from behind me and shoved me and walked off. If I didn’t have my two young kids and wasn’t dead tired, I would have choice words for her and her mother.

        2. Pixie

And competing in that week’s current and all future cheer events! Pixie

      2. Barbara Ganschow

Perfectly rebutted. Shenanigans like this are inspired and conducted by self absorbed immature people. I think any mob posing to block or harm guests need the boot out.

    2. D

Actually if they are reported, which they should have had a photo taken of them, and reported, they can get disqualified. I actually believe that it’s pretty common for Disney to do that, at least at WDW. All cheer squads are informed of this before they enter the parks.

      1. Barbara Ganschow

The “risk takers” do not care…”they won’t get caught” is there attitude

      2. B

I was coming to say this. If they are caught stunting in oark, they can get disqualified from the competition as well as kicked out of the park.

    3. Think for yourself

You sound exactly like the entitled parents the article talked about.

    4. R

You think Disney approved an exit to be blocked? So you think nothing bad could have happened if violence, fire, a snuck in weapon was used in that area at that moment? Huh, sounds like you are probably part of the problem by defending and excusing classless, harmful, inappropriate and inconsiderate behavior in the parks.

    5. Andy

Actually Disney didn’t give permission, we were there the same time for a baton twirling competition at ESPN and the contract and waiver Disney make everybody sign is mad

    6. Vm

They were not entertaining just being jerks

    7. Of course you'd say that

You must be a cheer mom or dad of one of these entitled brats. Disney would never have approved of this! I worked as a greeter in MK before and they wouldn’t even let people stand on a bench or railing! Everyone knows that Disney is strict and will avoid lawsuits at all costs. Don’t be daft.

  3. Cookie

A CM has every right to ask Guests to refrain from doing anything that will endanger themselves or others. People’s sense of entitlement is what is causing many of the problems in the parks these days…line jumping, buying multiple items to resell, complaining when your stroller is moved, etc. It’s very disheartening to see happy and magical places become battlegrounds.

    1. Barbara Ganschow

Thank you. You are so correct.👍🏻

    2. CJ

      Thank You, Cookie!

We are all Guests inside a Walt Disney Theme Park … and it’s up to all of us to respect the Rules (with more individuals and groups filming themselves doing foolish things for online attention? it’s going to mean new rules and Cast Members have to enforce them per Corporate!)

  4. Manny

Russian bot please go to hole in wall where it is dark and you can live as a kiska.

  5. Doober64

These children should have been removed from the park, and they should have had their cheerleader kids tossed with them.

  6. M

I think your racism is showing.

  7. MikeinVA

This isn’t a new issue, and isn’t isolated to Disneyland; we had a similar experience at WDW in February 2019. Tons of cheer groups, many of which would lock arms and kinda push themselves through crowded areas like Main Street and the other park entrances. Catching a bus to the parks with one of those groups was a horrible experience; they took up the entire bus, and many were incredibly rude and using inappropriate language. The experience was so bad we swore we would never go back when the cheer groups were there, and we haven’t.

    1. ItsJess

My family was there at the same time and it was a nightmare. They walk twenty abreast, slowly, stop and cluster in large groups, hold up queues keeping spots open for their friends, grope and make out with their significant others, yell profanity, etc. Very entitled visitors with no regard for the other guests (who may have planned or saved for this trip for years). I was also a bit surprised at their mostly risque attire- I’m probably an old fashioned Gen Xer but we were taught that going to a place like WDW meant being photographed- and not wanting to cringe when you look at those photos in ten or twenty years. You put clothes on that won’t make you want to die a little inside.

We also swore that we would attempt to find out if any of those cheer competitions were being held the next time we visit.

    2. Andy

Happens every year the week before president’s Day weekend as they are there for a competition at ESPN the weekend before. it’s a nightmare

    3. Not ALL cheer groups are like that. We have been to Six Flags Great America many times during cheer competitions, and found the cheerleaders to be friendly, and even inviting us to come into the amphitheater to watch their competition. Which, we thoroughly enjoyed!!!

  8. MaJiGenie

Another generation of Karen’s that just want to be looked at in the park along with Karen styled moms who also seek attentention. They have plenty of place and space outside the park to do this. once again they are just a group of woman who wants attention…. hope they didn’t even place

    1. How RUDE can you be!!! I certainly hope that you don’t have a daughter that has any outside interests or hobbies WHATSOEVER!!! I feel very sorry for her if you do, with your Karen attitude.

  9. Ver

As someone who works at WDW I’ll tell you that if us CMs catch you doing stuff like this, you will get disqualified from your competition. We also have a big problem with cheer groups being inappropriate on rides and just in general.

  10. JR

If you read the rules and policy it states that there cannot be chanting, cheers, groups that are above a certain allowed amount. Other rules say no climbing, running, or stunts of any kind.
It further says that these actions can get you banned from the parks and/or all property. Banning means that the police will give a no trespassing order, which makes it legally binding.
    Just follow the rules people!

  11. Cheerleader groups as well as followers have a superiority complex. Little they know is all inside their heads. The majority of people dislike them as well as their childish behavior. Everything this groups come to Disney Security is placed on high alert in the hotels. They also tend to have sex around public areas such as stairs, restrooms etc.

    1. John

Ok, The hate on this thread is strong!
It is one thing to say that it is inappropriate and dangerous to do stunts in the park, disobey rules, and put yourselves and other guest in danger. It is another thing to be ugly and petty by attacking the kids character and their chaperones/moms character by calling them named and assigning your hangups to their personalities.

Just say this was dangerous they did not obey the rules or the staff, abs should be stopped or escorted out.

All this extra Karen this and privileged that….not necessary folks.

      Have a great day!

    2. FJB

Around stairs and restrooms you say?? Hmmm got it. Thnx for the tip

  12. Bob

Going to disney is by itself an upper class activity. Lots of poor inneh city kids cheer. Hmmm… check your priviledge Karen.

    1. Jennifer

See now people need to just let them do these things, so when they get injured and become victims of their own stupidity, and try to file a lawsuit against the Disney park for the injury, and fail then maybe they’ll learn a lesson, but telling them will not work.

  13. Kay

A large cheer competition was going on a week and a half ago in Anaheim. The weekend I was there to celebrate my birthday with family. We saw many cheerleaders in the park but none were disruptive. However, we stayed at the Anaheim Hilton where it looked like the bulk of the competitors were staying and they were pretty rude and very loud. None of the adults were reining them in.

  14. DLand

Over here in Disneyland California, it get crazy busy when Cheerleading competitions come around & we use to try so hard in avoiding them because it’s ALL TRUE. These hormonal young people & there Handlers DONT CARE IN HOW THEY ACT. Been there (cheerleader once here) done that & NOBODY really told us Anything, just “Don’t get caught!” Yup, we’d be told THAT & not DONT DO ANYTHING STUPID.

  15. Ann

I’ve had bad experiences with cheerleaders since high school (many years ago) because they were so stuck up and mean to everyone not as pretty as them.
Most of them got knocked up by someone on the football team.
I’ve been to Disney World during their cheerleading competition week, but never again.
I won’t book a vacation during cheerleading competition week.
They’re doing their loud annoying cheers during rides and shows.
There was so many of them, it clogged up the Fast Pass lines (I’m not sure what it’s like during Lightening Lane).
My brother says that I shouldn’t discriminate against cheerleaders, but I think it’s because he’s a guy and he likes to look at them.

  16. Andy

Sounds like the CM is the Karen here. Complaining about mask use outdoors when they’re not required outdoors.

    1. They need to just give up on the mask thing!!! People are sick and tired of it.

  17. Deb

We were there when cheerleaders we’re there for national competition in February. Cheerleaders we’re terrible. Ran in packs. Cut in bus lines and ride lines. Wouldn’t get out of the way when walking. Good thing they left about halfway through our stay or our trip wouldn’t have been as nice.
Disney needs to monitor this. Also shout out to band that came and stayed in our hotel. They were polite and considerate.

    1. K Mackelprang

Band groups always seem to be polite, respectful, and upholders of the rules!

  18. Jenna

I was kicked in the face once by a cheerleader practicing her high kicks as she walked towards me on a crowded DL sidewalk. Fortunately I wasn’t hurt badly but it smarted like crazy and left a bruise. She didn’t even apologize, just laughed.

  19. Carol Anderson

I think you didn’t read carefully…the CM was upset about their blocking of the entrance to the Castle and the danger of doing a stunt without any safety precautions. You’re welcome 😉

  20. lizo

At Disney Springs I encountered a cheer group that crowded into the Ghiradelli store without masks and refused to observe social distancing measures. They were wildly obnoxious.

  21. Mike

Sounds like the only “Karen” here is the angry cast member. For goodness sakes they just wanted to take a quick picture. Maybe try board out of your ass and let people have their harmless fun.

    1. FormerCM

      Troll

      1. Cast members are notorious for treating patrons badly!!! Why you are called “cast members”, is beyond!!! You aren’t dressed up in costumes or performing in shows. THOSE people are “cast members.” You are not. You are just a worker. How dumb is Disney?

        1. Pinky

Wow Karen. Are you alway mad at the entire world or did you try to get a job with Disney and they turned you down for being a jerk?

  22. Disney Fan

The cheerleaders (and the adults allowing this to happen) should have been kicked out of the park. Disney needs to make examples of these people/groups to show that this type of behavior is not and will not be tolerated. Unfortunately, common sense and courtesy is no longer the norm. Stupidity and an “it’s all about me” attitude now prevails. I have been visiting the Disney parks for years and the behavior of the crowds have consistently declined (families with giant strollers blocking the walkways and entrances to rides, same people not tearing down their strollers before getting on the buses so everyone must wait for them to get on, families stopping in the middle of the primary walkways rather than pulling over to the side to look at their phones/maps, children running up and down the hallways in the resorts in the early morning and/or slamming their doors, screaming/crying babies in restaurants/shows and the parents refusing to leave . . . are any of these ringing any bells?).

  23. Celie

My husband and I returned to Disney World, a several years back, to celebrate our 25th Anniversary at the place we spent our honeymoon. It was summertime, and we expected it to be crowded.
What we did not expect was the way the group of Brazilian students on vacation was allowed to run roughshod over the other visitors.
The group was. Do large that it was subdivided into four or five groups of 25 to 30 older teens. Each group had one chaperone that carried different colored flags for each group.
The kids would stand around talking, eating, blocking people from walking, etc, while the chaperone would stand in line. When the chaperone got to the front of the line, she would raise the flag, then everyone in her group would push their way through the line to get on the ride. And when I say push, I mean push, shove, knock over, step on, everyone that had been patiently waiting IN THE LINE to get to the front. The whole time they forced themselves forward, they were cussing in their native language, calling Americans vulgar names, etc. People were complaining about it, but no action was taken.
I finally had enough and refused to let them through infront of me. The chaperone started cussing me and telling me she was with the children. I told her fine, then she could go wait the children until they waited their turn in line like everyone else. She asked the ride attendant to do something about me blocking the kids. He looked at me and I said, “Don’t. Call management.”
People behind me finally got the courage to start complaining out loud, instead of under their breaths, and the attendant told her and her crew to go to the back of the line.
A few minutes later, management shows up and wants to speak to me as I was boarding the ride. I told them wait right there. That after standing in line for 90 minutes, I was going to ride first.
After the ride, I met and told them what was happening. They tried to tell me that they understood my frustration, but it was a large group from a different country and ….
I asked if they were more important than the American visitors, which way exceeded that group. They said no. I asked would an American school group be allowed to push their way through to meet up with chaperone. They said no. Would an American group be allowed to cuss out patrons and call them vulgar names? Again, no.
Then pray tell, why where they being allowed to do these things. I was assured it would be handled.
On the bus back to the hotel that evening, the same group of students started sitting on the laps of guest already seated on the bus, pushing kids over to make room so they could sit. Etc. One young girl tried to sit on my hubby’s lap. He stood up, knocking her to the ground before retaking his seat. I pulled out my camera and finished my roll of film taking pictures of these kids.
Had the film developed at the park at a ridiculous price and brought the to the person I talked to the day before.
Not sure about what happened, but the groups stayed together in the park, standing in line and waiting their turns. Bus ride home, they stood quietly until their stop.
Someone I talked to, who spoke Portuguese fluently, ( I only understood a little), said the park management threaten to kick them out of the park and off the property if they kept up their behavior.
I guess my complaint was heard. But, I was really disappointed they let it allowed as long as they did.

    1. Celie, good job!!! Thank you, for doing this.

    2. Melissa Turner

The culture in Brazil is that you are clever if you find a way to break rules or ignore etiquette to your benefit. Disney wants the profit these international groups bring to them so they try to convince other guests we should overlook bad behavior because “they are from another country”. More people need to object and stand up for themselves. There is also an American Cheerleading culture that is self-absorbed and belligerent in the same way as some of the international groups. Push back everybody!

    3. Christian

I have seen Brazilians act this way in the parks!

  24. Suzi

Thank you for doing this. I have witnessed same kind of behavior.

  25. Lynn

The cast member was doing her job, and well done at that! 👏 Ppl think they can do whatever they want and this world needs to change that attitude and live by the rules. And whatever it takes to keep those rules, so be it!

  26. NbN

My daughter is a former cast member and she said that the cheerleaders were among the Worst people she had to deal with. Very entitled, rude, line jumping, and and generally breaking every rule in the book. And their “chaperones” were either no better or absent.

    1. Barbara Ganschow

Their chaperones are their role models and how to act like disrespectful idiots.

  27. Kelsey

They also get in the way at hotels. They block walkways, and I’m not joking, a cheerleader almost backflipped into my 4 year old grandson. They were on the grass next to the path. They have minimal supervision, and the hotels are full with them during the cheer competitions. I’ll ne er go back when they are there.

  28. Ella Harmeyer

starting with his use of name, it continues to be amazing to me that trolls have nothing better to do that try to start discontent. as for the “being sarcastic” excuse… NOT. This jerk is just being a jerk.

  29. Chris

I’ve been there during cheer competitions before – I remember the way one or two of them would get in line, then when they got close to the front of the line, here comes the whole group! Neither the Cast Members nor the adults in the group did anything more than shrug their shoulders

    1. Oz

Nothing really they can do. What’s more efficient— just loading them or holding up the attraction (which causes some of them to go 101) and dealing with angry snobby people?

  30. The article finished with “have you ever encounter a cast member like this?”. Uh yes. Everytime I’m in the parks I encounter probably 50 of them “doing their job”. The cheergroups are tweens and teenagers and all groups of tweens and teenagers are obnoxious.

  31. SHAME on you for that racist comment!!!

  32. Mike

Agreed the CM was doing their job to protect the other guests from the improperly supervised cheer squad. The adults not teaching the children respect and boundaries is the real problem.

  33. Dani

Practicing VS posing for a picture..2 VERY DIFF things. SERIOUSLY everyone , DO NOT CLASSIFY groups into catagories..Imagine if your kid just won a title and were posing for a pic..if a gymnast did a cartwheel or whatev..NOW- BEING ENTITLED OR RUDE AMYWHETE is disgusting. ITTS NOT JUST WRONG BECAUSE UR IN “DISNEY”.I’m sure some of those kids had NEVER been there before.. but, the EMPLOYEES, OH , I MEAN Cast members..are ‘ at WORK’ I get it..Im an ICU nurse. If I told you what some adults do 5 feet from DYING famy members & strangers alike- you may reconsider the punishment for the above photo crime…just sayin…

  35. Susan

Any infractions should cause the squad to be disqualified from the competition and ban them from entering the park for a determined time.

  36. Paul

In my experiences of visiting wdw whilst cheerleading competitions are on. ALL of them behaved this way. Selfish. Obnoxious. Arrogant loud irritating idiots

  37. Oz

These are the kind of idiots I want to see hit their head on the concrete when doing something stupid and ignoring CMs.

  38. Lorenzo Trujillo

Jason, we plan our visit to WDW to coeside w/ our annual cruise. For several years I could not figure out why there were so many cheer Karen’s cheering, pushing, n just being obnoxious. From our first night at Disney Springs to our day in the parks. We were standing in line reading n choosing a place for lunch. A group of cheering Karen’s pushed us and others out of way to take our place in the lunch line. All while cheering 4 bits, 6 bits…. When I got home I complained to WDW operations about being mistreated n pushed around by these cheering nitwits, Not the same nitwits but our flight connected through Phoenix, AZ, n we were besiged by these nitwits in Phoenix, the flight, n the magical bus ride to our resort. OMG, what an obnoxious sport.

    1. Barbara Ganschow

There is something about whipping a crowd into shouting and cheering that makes the cheerleaders often unable to distinguish between the appropriate and inappropriate area to demonstrate their whipping a mob into a frenzy. I shared this thread with my adult son and he was glad to hear others concerns. Having Sensory Integrative Dysfunction he reminded me of the time he was knocked/thrown to the ground (he’s 6’5”, 260lbs) by a hoard of jumping, twirling, screaming “young ladies” as he was in line for Dumbo only to have their “chaperones” laugh and tell the girls they were strong to be able to knock over that big fat guy.🤬😡😱

  39. Frank Rizzo

Cheerleaders have always been a problem in society. Useless entity. No one cares, especially the sports teams they cheer for. Go away Cheerleaders!

  40. Donny

I can remember one year we were staying at Pop Century and we were waiting in line for Hollywood Studios bus and the line was pretty long. The bus came along, and before anyone else could get on, a couch ran up to the back door, got on and told all the cheergroup to get on the back. There were alot of arguing on the bus that night. Even during the day by the pool, they just leave their towels on the ground, can’t even pick them up and put them away. I’m glad we’re not going back anytime soon.

  41. Ali

Have been in Disney when a high number of Cheerleaders were there and every group I came across were rude and felt they were entitled to force their way into lines ahead of others. Friends were staying in hotel where a large number were staying and had to be moved as the cheers consistently ‘performed’ in the corridors and ran up and down till the early hours . Have respect for others as well as yourself just because you cheer doesn’t mean that you can behave however you want

  42. Harry

They do the same thing and have the same attitude at hotels I work for. They act and feel entitled and do not feel rules apply to them nor do they care for the property or well being of others.

  43. Phil

Yep, that I.Q. Is really is working. “Let’s do our cheer routine”. They don’t care if they injure anyone let alone themselves!!! If I was injured by them, I would SUE their Guardians and also Disney for allowing it.

  44. Melissa

Every time I visit a Disney park I’m convinced I’m going to see some young kid with their brains splattered on the concrete because their parents allow them to horse around and climb on everything instead of watching them and teaching them how to behave in public. It’s more concentrated when it’s a group like the cheerleaders, but if their parents had taught them to behave when they were little they wouldn’t be quite so selfish when they got a little older.

  45. Anonymous

I have two cheerleaders and we don’t fit in with “most of the crowd. There are a hand full of bad apples in the mix, but you get that everywhere. I can say at past events there, our team was in grass to warm up/reunite of which they practiced on and that’s so dangerous! We just seen this past weekend a girl be lifted on concrete right in front of the arena for a picture by who was holding the event. That being said, it’s not just happening at Disney parks, but it seems only Disney understands the safety concerns.

  46. My daughter is a ride operator at Knott’s and they had lots of the same complaints when the cheerleaders were there too this year. I blame the adults who were supposed to supervise them as much as the kids. That was supposed to be why they were there, not just to have their own fun time.
