Went to Disney World in Jan. Was so excited to show my kids hitchhiking ghosts for the first time, but instead the projected ghosts kind of floated around and never appeared to “sit” in the doom buggy. Soooo disappointing on my favorite ride.
I was there last Friday and the Ghosts were not working at The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland. I have also noticed that more attractions are breaking down since the Covid-19 Virus Pandemic Shutdown.
Yup! They were broken when I was there too just last week in March and when my sister when in January. One would think with gas prices soaring that ghosts with the mosts would still be thumbing it!! Many many broken rides at Disney! Spend more money and get less in return!
I was there yesterday and not only was it working but they had added different ghosts from the old ones. The one in our car looked sort of like Bettlejuice.
March 8 and 9, no hitchhiking ghosts, yet the same recording played that said to watch for them. Also Rise of the Rebellion ride was broken down almost every morning for the week.
Rise of the Resistance is down often. It’s higher tech than the other rides in the park, and has reliability issues with the signal for the trackless ride.
The hunted mansion at Disneyland park has been open to the public since 1969, being open for 52 years, it’s time for projectors or photo opts. Some change to this ride is positive sign to see. If we all stepped back to do web searching, seeing how long the classic disney rides were around, it would give us a better understanding.
Was there yesterday and ride broke down while we were backwards going down a small hill, so my kids were terrified since we were leaning backwards for almost 10 minutes in the dark. My 7 year old bawled her eyes out for the rest of the ride. But the hitchhiker ghosts were there! Hah
That’s not necessarily a “break down”, could have been an off-loading or on-boarding of handicapped persons. I have to have the ride stopped every time I ride it, or I will fall trying to load.

Visited March 2 and 3 and there was no hitchhiking ghost, very disappointed cause with a first timer.
