So glad our kids and grandkids along with my husband and I had the privilege of visiting Disneyworld and Epcot before this shameful display of uncivilized and abhorrent behavior became the norm. We had two wonderful and memorable trips that we will always cherish, but have cancelled any future visits until these selfish, immature people are no longer welcome there. There is no reason considerate and law abiding individuals should have to share space with people who refuse to obey rules that are set up so everyone can enjoy this wonderful place. Shame on them!
I believe this lawless behavior started when Disney started to sell liquor everywhere in the parks. And with the added pressure of this terrible park/ride system it has gotten worse.
I had planned on taking 4 grand daughters to the parks this year. But now I’m not going to take them. Its too complicated and time consuming. The experience Won’t be as it was years ago, when I took my 4 children. The parks should be a beautiful happy carefree stroll. Albeit, sometimes with line waiting. But you shouldn’t be paying tons of money to be watching or hearing a bar brawl. Disney you should be ashamed!
Yes covid is gone just like a flu or cold. But that doesn’t mean stupidity is gone bc I see it a lot at Disney very inconsiderate people think they are the only ones there disney needs to go back to the way it was with fast pass yes parks where crowded but we didn’t have the reservation system that is supposed to limit guess capacity. But I don believe more and more people are coming down plus more and more people moved down here. So yes the parks are crazy and they will
Only get worst with spring break unless Disney does some changes
HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH? I SEE NOT ONE SMILE IN THAT HOARD. AND MOST LOOKING DOWN AT THEIR PHONES. WE’VE BEEN GOING FOR THE PAST 40 YEARS. IT WILL BE ANOTHER 40 BEFORE WE GO AGAIN.🤯
SPOT ON RUTH. We have been going for 20 years plus, and its not the same. So not worth it, Disney and this rubbish board led by Bob the Paycheck needs to be replaced, the MAGIC has gone. MOST EXPENSIVE PLACE ON EARTH not happy at all.
It’s horrific the way people are acting. I would like to know what happens to the people instigating and participating in this kind of behavior. Are they arrested? Banned from the parks? Nothing? Personal opinion they need to be banned indefinitely.
Sadly this is the state of our country with this fool running it. Violence wasn’t the norm till the Democrats made it the norm. This administration applauds criminal activity that’s why this is continuing to happen.
I can not believe that somebody is making this a political problem. Give me a break. I have been to Disney Resorts in Orlando since 1983 and this never happened. After 5 visits I will never go back. I was taught to treat people with respect and dignity. Unfortunately some people don’t have any kind respect for others. Disney is not going in the right directions. It needs to take a moment and do some inner searching. People need to be taught “Do unto others as you would have them do to you” and do it.
I definitely agree that these changes by Disney have greatly contributed to the downfall of their theme park experience. That along with disrespectful people in general in the past couple of years has ruined the Disney adventure. The pressure of constant attachment to devices to make your day enjoyable has had the opposite effect.
The article is giving very bad information to people. #1. What happened was an assault. Which is matter for law enforcement as it is a CRIME, A CRIME that carries SUBSTANTIAL jail time when committed on ANYONE 65 years or older.. This was NOT a security issue. #2. CMs can and will do NOTHING for a medical emergency other than notify security who then MIGHT notify PD AFTER they are given the OK by their supervision.
PEOPLE If you are at the parks and see something like this YOUR FIRST call should be to 911 for an ambulance for the victim. On that same 911 call a request for police to report an assault with a description of the perp. You ask PD to meet you at the front gate to file a report as a witness to the assault. This way PD requests security to track the perp with your description and may escort them to the PD or they can direct the PD to the perp with cameras. Lastly, you inform the cast member to call security to detain or track the perp and that police are on their way.
Until GUESTS do something about these lunatics themselves then nothing will be done. WDW security is an absolute joke. If you are relying on them or CMs to keep you safe you are delusion. The excuse that WDW is private property does NOT mean they can stop PD from doing their duty. Nor does it mean that PD can’t enter the park when a crime has taken place. If you are having a cookout with friends at someone’s house and a crime happens would you tell the home owner and leave it at that? Or would you call 911 for help?
R (that’s an unusual name), the Orange County Sheriff’s Department staffs a whole division (sector) at WDW and has an onsite facility near Saratoga Springs. WDW Security can radio for a deputy anytime, at their discretion. And Reedy Creek FD is dedicated solely to WDW, complete with EMT’s! When in a Park calling 911 only delays the process because it goes to Kissimmee dispatch. You wrote an interesting dissertation, but folks, when you’re at WDW and assistance is needed you immediately alert a CM for the quickest response. R (there’s that name again) I’m curious, does our judicial system really have stiffer penalties for “crimes” committed against for those who are 65 year old’s and older? Hmmm, maybe those “perps” should focus on those youngsters under 65? And PD sounds like a medical condition, maybe try a little blue pill for that. Thanks for the entertaining read, everyone needs a good laugh now and then.
@ Rudy, obviously a fake name. YES, there is a federal law about assaults and murder on a person over age 65, It is ACTUALLY considered a hate crime. It is used to increase sentences of those convicted of assault and battery.. Look it up don’t be a lazy leftist.
Rudy, there’s that name again, fake. By reading we learn things, but for some it must be very difficult so I will go more slowly for you. If you ACTUALLY read what I wrote, I said call the ABULANCE & PD first, then notify a CM. NOT INSTEAD of. All of which can be done nearly simultaneously ( that means at the same time ). It also means that you are providing a witness statement to the PD (RATHER than just going about your day in the park) so the injured victim has a witness to the assault when they are going to sue the perp (that means perpetrator), it also takes away WDW Corp. excuse for NOT calling PD which happens quite often when violence takes place in the park. Typically, if they do anything at all, they escort the perp off property. The reason is, it looks very bad for WDW Corp. if cops are at their gates nabbing people daily. It is also impossible for Corp. to “claim they are dealing with increased violence at the parks approately” if there are thousands of calls to PD over the course of a year. Which would put a black eye on corporate and force their hand into actually hiring and training appropriate lefels of staff to deal with the leftists new normal.
If you paid more attention you would know, that reedy creek already put out a warning to guests not even 2 months ago NOT to rely on WDW for prompt medical service and stated that they felt WDW was too dangerous for guests. Making a call to any PD to report any crime anywhere in America is a civic duty for ALL Americans.
Name-calling is the most common tactic people with limited intellect or liars (or both) use when they can’t form a coherent rebuttal. So following your premise, Disney would be better off allowing violence in the Parks as that will improve their corporate image?? Re-read your post R, and I quote “Lastly, you inform the cast member to call security to detain or track the perp and that police are on their way.” In what English speaking country does the word “Lastly” mean “simultaneously” as you claim. And the definition of a Federal Hate Crime: At the federal level, a crime motivated by bias against race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability. They must have accidently left out that senior citizen, age 65 plus thing?? There’s so much wrong with your post R there’s no need to go on…Yours Truly Rudolf, a real name 🙂 Rudy for short and not afraid to use it.
I have been a Disneyworld visitor since 1981, and today I have to say that “The Magic” that inspired Walt today was totally lost.
The theme parks are full of people, the attractions with a long delay, it gives me the feeling that Disney only wants to sell and recover its profits from previous years and an issue that should be prohibited… the sale of alcohol in the parks… I have seen upset people vomiting everywhere, arguments and fights between groups of young people who drink alcohol and shouldn’t.
Walt doesn’t deserve this situation….
It is with a sad heart that I read the original story and subsequent comments. I agree a lot of the “magic’ has changed at WDW, we had noticed it changing even before COVID came along. For us it started when we had to start paying for self parking when that service really did not “cost” as we noticed no increased security, change in the property etc. And “they” have been chipping away at the edges since then. COVID through a huge challenge at the entertainment industry. But the changes didn’t stop there. People are changing, where are the folks that were helping the unfortunate, the folks in need, delivering groceries, prescriptions; just offering a friendly wave? Many of the WDW visitors have a “me me me” attitude. There is a belief “we have spent all this money, I want it all , and I want it now” Again, unfortunate. I like many will be waiting awhile before I go into the parks again. We need to turn our energy and efforts to help our fellow man/woman/child. We need to close the divide, treat others as we would like to be treated. We need to find the magic within our selves, when we do that and share it with others we can change the world (WDW and the rest of the world) Please be Kind.

Whaat happened to the man who ran over her?

Good question, I would like to know that also! Is he banned from the parks?

Is Disney the cause of all the problems with unruly guests? Let’s begin: mobile ordering, genie+, guests constantly on their phones, etc., etc.
