My wife has done the same thing. Plasma pays a lot apparently.

Where can I find a place to donate plasma in my area ? ( Lake wales Florida)

    1. L. Shewbridge

I’ve donated at OneBlood. I can’t give plasma because of my health, but I donate blood every 56 days as long a sim not anemic. For free BTW.
You can find your location at: oneblood.org

    2. Mimsy

To Donate is to give without expecting something of value in return. One donates blood. This is selling plasma. Let’s use the correct terms. I’m not saying it’s good or bad, but let’s call it what it is.

        100%

My spouse did this for our trip in Jan 2022. Over a year he saved $1754. We promised our kids a trip for their college graduation. It has become so expensive however unfortunately it is apparent that the magic is gone. After 24 trips I am done.

As a user of said plasma, I am thankful for everyone who *sells* their plasma! It helps me to stay out of hospitals. Donated plasma for free goes to entirely different purposes (ie red cross) and people like me only benefit by those willing to sell. I love each and every one of them, and resent your implication that it is any less worthy than a red cross donation!

Plasma donations are vital to the survival of many many people with chronic illnesses.
Since plasma donation takes so much longer and is more involved than a blood donation, donors are paid for their donation.

  3. Considering the widespread shortage of blood and blood product, people should be looking into giving, irrespective of Disney.

      Thank you!

      I donate plasma
So I can go to see my fog Snoopy selfish rat isn’t 4 me

I ran many Disney Facebook groups and yes, this is a very common practice. Many people were doing it as a couple so that they can pay for Disney trips for their family.

  5. Angelo

I live in Belgium, where I also give plasma or blood. Unfortunately we only get coupons, 4 coupons is the equivalent of 1 ticket to the movies.

Thank you to anyone who donates plasma! The small amount you receive is minute compared to the amount of life you give. I RECEIVE plasma so I can go to Disney (among other things such as raise my children, live, and be a wife). Never look down on someone donating something that is in such short supply right now!

      1. Just Dottie

Why not? I think its an overlooked way to earn some cash AND help someone else in the process!
        Good for her!

  6. Andrew

My wife and I do this all the time. We’ve earned enough to almost pay for our DVC

  7. Sharon Puff

Walt Disney never intended for people to have to donate plasma or anything else to enjoy his parks!
I have been to Disney many times including way back when you had a coupon book and they took the ticket to ride a specific ride; most were 25-50 cents.
Disney has now become a money grubbing business that most people especially ones with children can no longer afford—- I feel Walt Disney would be saddened by what Disney has become; he made Disney for families and entertainment not for people to become multi millionaires!

Plasma is urgently needed world wide!! It is used to create life saving medications for those with autoimmune disorders, chemo patients, burn victims and now Covid patients. Those that offer their plasma are true life savers. Not desperate, by any means!! And- it’s a safe practice. I’m sure Walt would be proud!

Until the ban on people like me donating unless we swear to our sexual history is ended, I don’t want to hear it. It’s just another reminder that we are considered less than human 🙁

      2. John

This is why Disney can get away with whatever it wants; its people will do anything to go.

  8. Jake

Part of me wonders if this blog truly enjoys Disney, or prefers to comment on smaller portions, longer lines, and more expensive perks. I think it’s important that people understand that Disneyland and Disney world are expensive operations. The cost of those tickets go to pay for hard-working employees that put up with a lot of crap in addition to very expensive pyrotechnics. Magic isn’t cheap. Especially these days.

  9. Kris

More reminders that people like me are banned from donating blood unless we swear to our sexual history 🤷‍♀️

  10. Chris

It’s not donating if you get paid for it

  11. Denise

First I don’t understand what is strange about someone donating something so life saving as plasma regardless as to why they are.
Secondly Americans in general can do with smaller portions. Dare I say some should abstain altogether. Disney is just making it easier. Too small for you then don’t buy it

  12. Charles Labedz

I have 4 plasma centers near me in the Chicago area, they will pay you $100 for your first 10 donations after 10 you go to the next one and get $100 for 10 donations by the time I am done with the 4 centers I go back to the first and I am back in the $100 bonus again $200 a week for watching YouTube videos for about 40 minutes each

  13. Melissa

I’d donate for free if I was medically able, so I’d absolutely do it for $700 a month.

    1. Keil Fleischbein

I have friends who used to donate. Its not healthy.

  14. Marcus

If you need to donate plasma to go to Disney, you need a realignment of priorities. It’s like people who complain they are broke because they don’t get paid enough, yet always have money for beer and cigarettes….

  15. R

So a person has to actually sell their blood and body tissue to afford Disney and everyone thinks that’s just great.🤨 Huh🤔. Okay. 81 Million votes?

    1. Late

Crazy……Hope they dont need get in a accident etc….with being volume depleted….afterwards

      1. Shoshi

Actually, a healthy person can donate twice weekly because blood plasma regenerates itself so quickly!

I have CVID (a primary immune deficiency disorder I was born with), & donated plasma provides the donor antibodies for me that my own body cannot make. It can take upwards of 6,000 plasma donations just to make one batch of IgG serum. IgG is the only antibody that can be accepted by another’s body, & provides protection from viruses as well as any disease the donors were vaccinated against! Most of us with PIDDs (primary immune deficiency disorders) have to endure monthly IVIG- infusing the donor antibodies thru IV. The rest of us have to infuse via SubQ- that means we have to insert up to 5 or 6 needles with IV tubing attached & use a pump to infuse. We have to do this in our stomachs or inner thighs, and at least once weekly. Whether we infuse IVIG or SubQ method, we are dependent on these infusions forever. Forever. For the rest of our lives. And right now, plasma donors are contributing their own COVID antibodies (both from having been infected & having the vaccine). There are so many of us who get vaccinated, but who can no longer respond to them- meaning, our bodies won’t make those antibodies. Plasma donors are heroes to US, no matter what their reasons for donating are. These donors SAVE OUR LIVES. We are parents, teachers, public servants, cops, medical professionals (yep), and many of us as kids as young as 6 months old. Yes- even as young as this.

I understand why some have issues against donating plasma or whole blood, but to us PIDDers, none of those motivations matter. What matters is that these donations save our lives, and let us build life among other people. Without these donations, we go without our IgG infusions, and we die. It’s really, honestly that simple.
If anyone wants more information about PIDDs (primary immune deficiency disorders), to better understand why & how plasma donations affect us, the best resources can be found on the Immune Deficiency Foundation’s website (primaryimmune.org). There is also basic information on the websites for the NIH, NORD, & even WebMD.
Before people judge plasma donors &/or their motivations so harshly, remember this Disney fan’s story. She donates to earn funds so she can visit the “happiest place on Earth”. The people who receive HER antibodies are able to visit the happiest place on Earth BECAUSE her antibodies will help prevent then from dying from something as mundane as the common cold.
(The same really applies to wearing face masks. Many PIDDers have been wearing masks in public LONG before COVID happened. I’m one of those people. So please, don’t pre-judge someone you see wearing a mask. We aren’t paranoid. We are just trying to survive.)

I did this back in my late teens early 20s… but it was to bring in extra cash to help pay for my rent, groceries etc, it was to survive not go on vacations.

  17. Keil Fleischbein

This is idiotic. 700 a month is 14k annually. You should not be spending money at Disneyland once a month with a 14k income.

Suggestion: save $500 a month for a year to buy a used car. Insure the car and get a job delivering pizza or taxiing Lyft/Uber. Use the 50k-60k you will make to finance your Disney trips. What you’re doing right now is insane and unhealthy.

  18. Judy

Yes I would but there’s no donation center here in Pomeroy Ohio..there is Frontier…what do you do for Frontier?Ty

I paid for a trip to Disneyland for my family of 4 by donating plasma. It isn’t a rare as they make it sound. I got twice a week, so four times a month. I donated for 8 monthd and saved up enough for 2 days at Disneyland, plus airplane tickets and we splurged and stayed at the Grand Californian one night and the Paradise Pier the other night. I am still donating to save up for Disney World trip in 10 months. Being on a single income, donating helped us be able to afford family vacation for the first time in 4 years! Plus you are helping other people with your donation.

    1. Lorie S.

I tried to edit comment and it posted twice. Oops that was supposed to say I donate 8 times a month not 4. I can add 😄

      1. Shoshi

Thank you for donating plasma! You get a cash reward for doing it- but the reward for those with PIDDs like myself who receive your donated antibodies, well that means life itself. Literally.

As someone who’s life depends on a weekly plasma product infusion, YOU DESERVE DISNEY EVERY DAY!!! I am alive today because of people who donate plasma. I have a disease called CVID. It is incurable. The only treatment is Ig infusion therapy. You are a hero to all of us who are living thanks to your donation!! Thank you!!!

    1. Shoshi

Hey Karen, from a fellow zebra on the IDF group. I’m the one who shared this article to our group the other day! Zebra hugs!

My Disney-loving kindergartener and I are thankful to all the people who donated plasma. After an autoimmune condition caused inflammation in his spinal cord, his legs were temporarily paralyzed as a toddler. Fortunately, it was just temporary, thanks to plasma exchange therapy. So thankful to blood and plasma donors who helped give my son his mobility back!

  23. Pete

Where are they donating plasma and getting nearly $90 bucks a visit??!! I’d donate plasma for green like that!

  24. Pete

That person is also over donating between multiple centers. 1 plasma center wouldn’t let you donate that much safely.

  25. Lisa D

Trust me when I say it is very possible. Some people use plasma donations to pay for school or pay off dept beacuse right now with pandemic plasma places are paying large amounts of money for your plasma.Donating Plasma is how my husband and I went and paid for our July Cali/Disney trip. We stayed at Huntington Beach area and went to Disneyland one day than California adventure the second day.we were in California for 6 days. We bought tickets first to make the reservations than reserved the hotel room. Every paid for piece by piece. than we saved everything from donating plasma for other cost for the trip. We also ate a lot at cheap eats places like breakfast jacks and coffee at the beach every morning and used our microwave and fridge in our room by buying food at store. The Disneyland days we ate at Denny’s across the street. We brought our own snacks and bottle water in the park.we would donate plasma at high payout places that are giving new donor’s $100 plus for each donation for first 10 donations. Than we will switch to another place when promotion was over. We went to one that gave $180 for first 8 plasma donations. It adds up fast! It was our way of being able to go. That trip ended up being the best trip out of all our trips we ever had at Disneyland.

It is not “donating” when you receive payment … it is “selling” your blood

    1. Audra Pankrez

The blood center turns around and sells the blood to the hospital.. the hospital does not get it for free.. so there is that.

  27. Pat

In th UK you donate for a cup of tea and a biscuit. In other words. For free. Day ticket to Disney Paris is £50 so affordable and so we go next week. Average queue time 20 mins. And we get to visit Paris. Feels a lot more relaxed

  28. Sandra

I donate plasma too, and I only get 35.00 one day 15.00 the next time I get to donate, I would love to get 700.00 a month, we’re is that place, I’m getting ripped off

    1. Linda Hoerter

When you are giving your blood/plasma in exchange for money, you are not “donating” anything. Many people donate their blood as a way of giving back for their good health. Selling your blood/plasma is mercenary, IMO.

  29. Kevin

This is not “donating” and its not a “brave” or “selfless” act. let’s call a spade a spade here. This is a disgusting act of selfishness. If this person was so great she would actually donate without getting paid and if she did get paid she would use the money not on herself.

  30. Jen

I donated plasma (free) a year ago because Red Cross needed people with Covid anti-bodies. Unfortunately there is something in my plasma that can cause a reaction in a tiny number of people. So free or paid, I am no longer able to donate/sell it. I can still donate blood.
