What an absolute joke, they continue to charge an exorbitant price like before but now they remove the biggest reason for even going to the Buffet. I can go to a seafood buffet outside of Disney and pay the same and still get crab legs included. I was happy to see them re-open but what’s the point now? just more Disney cost cutting and knowing people will continue to over pay for less.

    1. Jeff

THis is not because of Disney. This is due to an national Lobster and Crab shortage. Many grocery sttores are pulling Crab and Lobster from their shelves as a result. Note: The cause of the shortage is something of a mystery. A winter dredge survey showed the overall population (of Crab) fell from 405 million in 2020 to 282 million in 2021, driven largely by a sharp drop in the number of juvenile crabs, which hit their lowest level since 1990.

      1. Kevin M Sharkey

Thank you Jeff. At least someone on here gets it. People just want to blame the Disney company for everything it seems.

        1. Julian H

But if you pay huge amounts of cash you can have it, so Disney do have stock, but as always want to charge stupid outrageous prices.

So although the price may have gone up Disney takes this opportunity yet again to fleece its customer. Surely a better more favourable option would have to limited the Crab and Lobster due to a shortage, but I guess that way Disney don’t get to rip you off.

This board needs to be replaced, why can you not see this…

        2. charles brown

Not true i live here and we have Boston Lobster Feast .All the crab legs ..Lobster ..Clams and other food you can eat . 59.*95 per person .3 locations .One in Orlando fla and 2 in Kissimmee fla

      2. Karen

Really, then I guess we can see the price drop when supply meets demand? Doubtful!

    2. dave

sorry – unless you live in Maine with your own fisherie. We live outside Chicago and ALL, I repeat ALL all you can eat Crab places have stopped that. One really good place in Lincoln Park just outside downtown Chicago used to be $43 all yuou can eat crab and gourmet burgers– very popular. They closed due to inability to get supply then cost if they could. They re-opened with a new price of $112 per person- yes you’re reading that right. They are now closed again – not because they didn;t have any business, but couldn’t get the crab – they are re-opening with the all you can eat burgers and will vary seafood as available ( Scallops – shrimp etc) – so if you want to say DIsney’s prices are high and getting higher ( depending where you live this is true – not so much for those of us who live CHicago – LA-NY etc.)- fine- but the 17-20% real inflation rate over the past year hitting food and transportation costs majorly EVERYWHERE

    3. Jamie

Well I’ll stick to a restaurant that won’t overcharge & screw people like Disney has been doing. I can go to any Chinese buffet here & get crab legs all day.

  2. SteveO

They took our fast passes, our PhotoPass and are charging more for annual passes. This is one family that will not be renewing!

    1. Jordan

Photopasses are still a thing…what are you talking about?

      1. Chris

They are now an upcharge for passholders whereas they used to be included.

        1. Julian H

Jordan must be Bob Chapek I’m sure of it, as no matter how bad it gets at Disney with their Lesser Service, Higher Charges and general Ripping of the customer base, Jordan blindly follows, as I have notice in other articles.

So many complain on here and rightly so, but Disney is not listening or simply just do not care, the latter I fear.

          1. Jordan

Yes, I, a black man, am Bob Chapek and I’m going around telling people to chill out while things get worked out since, I don’t know if people are aware of this, we are still in a pandemic and still trying to recover.
I’m pretty sure you’re just a troll that wants to get people riled up. That’s what I’ve seen whenever your name pops up. People complain all the time about how things have changed for the worse, but none take into account that we are all still struggling. I see some of the stupidest things that people complain about. “oh, I have to wear a mask inside? I don’t want to go now!” Get over yourselves

          2. Julian H

Dito Jordan, get over yourself. I’m no troll but if thats all you have I can take it.

I have been going to Disney for 20 years, and I speak the truth, Disney is ripping its customers and its no where near as good as it used to be, but far more costly. Unfortunatly I believe you are brainwashed no matter what Disney does you will blindly follow, which is just crazy. Thsts your choice but at least be truthful to all. If someone or a Company is ripping you off I am going to say something wether you like it or not.

          3. Julian H

Jordan because someone has a different opinion to you, does not make them a troll, I’m open to debate and call out unfairness. I have loved going to Disney for over 20 years staying on property, but it is not the same anymore and one should be honest about it and not be afraid to call Disney out, the hope is it will make them better, but I fear with this board and Bob Chapek it will not happen.

        2. Jordan

They still have it though, just because it costs a little bit more doesn’t mean they got rid of it.

          1. Julian H

So limit it to customers already paying a fee, not try to justify charging double. Come on man

    2. DisneyDad

Steveo.. that is what they want so when you do go one day you pay per day. I bet they will not bring back annual passes unless they suffer losses or at a higher price.

    3. Perter Von Frostenheimer

Good, Annual pass holders are the least profitable and most obnoxious Disney patrons around…don’t let the door hit ya…

      1. Potter 009

Kma I have been a Disney photographer for the past 32 years I go on 3 weeks of vacation a year staying at deluxe resorts the vast amount of time I dare say I probably spend more than 90 percent of the people that go. Don’t lump us all together there are those of us who don’t mind paying for a good time

        1. er 009

          Pass holder stupid ac

  3. Ken

This was a favorite restaurant of ours. Breakfast is still good but dinner has gone downhill with these upcharges.

  4. M

Umm… Cape May is in New Jersey, not New England.

    1. That’s true. They even have a ferry boat that goes back and forth to Lewes, Delaware.

    2. Frances

Thank you. I wondered about the New England reference.

  5. Jennifer

Not surprised by anything they do at this point. Disney used to be so much more – now it’s gone to hell in a hand basket. It’s a shame .

  6. Mike

Just another way for CHEAP-AK, digging his hand deeper in your pocket!!!

    1. Kevin M Sharkey

Its actually because of a crab and lobster shortage but nice try.

      1. dave

        absolutely true

      2. Julian H

        As mentioned above earlier:-

But if you pay huge amounts of cash you can have it, so Disney do have stock, but as always want to charge stupid outrageous prices.

So although the price may have gone up Disney takes this opportunity yet again to fleece its customer. Surely a better more favourable option would have to limited the Crab and Lobster due to a shortage, but I guess that way Disney don’t get to rip you off.

This board needs to be replaced, why can you not see this…

        1. Kevin M Sharkey

You are completely wrong and just want to use this as another excuse to blame Disney for something that is happening everywhere across the world. You obviously do not understand the laws of supply and demand coupled with what happens when there is severe shortage of a resource coupled with what happens when there are supply chain issues to get said resource to places. Go to a local restaurant (even a chain one) and compare the prices for certain items (seafood, chicken, steak) now to what they were a few months ago. They are more. Its not Disney causing this. And if, like you suggest, Disney has some giant surplus stock of crab you do realize that it’s not live crabs swimming around Typhoon Lagoon and what they do have has a shelf life before it goes bad and cannot be served?

        2. Kevin M Sharkey

And you can copy/paste your earlier response again, Julian. It still won’t make it any truer.

          1. Julian H

Kevin I copied and paste because you were clearly not listerning and I guess twice was not enough for you. nd it is true.

      3. Michael harbuck

But yet unsurprisingly they don’t reduce their price to make up for it

      4. charles brown

Agree Kevin that was the biggest joke yet .Everything in Disney is going up in price and even the food .They just again did another price hike .I go there just about every other weekend if i can get a reservation and have friends that work there ,The CEO Bob is the problem that started this reservation crap and raising the prices that is slowly killing Disney and a lot of people i see rather go to Universal Studio.I for one will not renew my pass when it runs out

  7. george

It is just a shame what Disney is doing now. Yes costs go up every year and they have to cover these but when is enough going to be enough. Everytime you turn around they are adding charges to something that used to be free or jacking up the prices. But they know this is not going to stop most people from coming so they keep doing it.

    1. Kathy

Well it’s stopping me taking our family back again! It’s just ridiculous all the charges & up pricing they do!!

      1. Kate

DVC called me today because we had been considering buying in. But after our January trip we decided we will no longer support Disney’s now out of control money grab with our vacation dollars. I explained to the DVC caller that we have decided we don’t want to support those price increases and we won’t be buying into DVC. Tonight, we booked our hotel stay for a non-Disney vacation later this year instead of returning to Disney. It will be good for our family to branch out from Disney.

        1. Bob Novak

Smart move. You can never get in to use it but you find that they have rooms available to sell. They also take away benefits and increases dues annually. They had to give a break during the year they were closed but more than made up for it this year. There are more options out there as I’ve discovered since I cannot use my share when I want to.

  8. Jordan

Why are people surprised by this? Shipments are taking longer to get anywhere. It’s harder to get their hands on things, so obviously they are going to try to discourage over eating at the buffets. Does it suck? Yes, but it can’t be helped when prices for things are going up everywhere while still struggling to get things sent anywhere.

    1. Julian H

A simpler and more customer friendly approach would have been to limit the Crab and lobster on the buffet, with an explanation would have been better, Disney obviously have stock, but feel they can use this to their advantage and decided to hike a huge increase.

      1. DLand

Exactly Julian H. It’s ALWAYS ABOUT THE MONEY & people being SHEEPLE WILL PAY 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

      2. Jordan

Yeah, and yet people would still find a way to complain about that or try to work around it to get more. You can’t please everyone, at least you get to have your fill.

        1. Julian H

Actually if it wasexplained at the buffet it was limited then people would understand, but to charge you the same remive it unless you pay double is acceptable to you,, just crazy, more money than sense I guess.

    2. Kevin M Sharkey

People would rather blame the big bad corporations for all the woes in life than think their might possibly be other factors in the world at play in said corporations decisions.

      1. Jordan

Exactly. I wish people would think about other options besides they must be trying to steal from me. At least wait until the world goes back to normal before getting mad at them for not going back to normal

        1. Julian H

I wish Disney would think of other more acceptable options that going straight for your cash. Nickle and dime Management no imagination or customer service anymore from Disney.

  9. Glad I don’t like lobster (a richman’s scallop) or crab legs. Put whatever doesn’t sell alive in Bob Cheapskate’s bath tub.

  10. Scott

    Skimpflation

  11. Beverly Morgan

I used to love going to WDW in Orlando. But no more. They have chosen to become more elitist and don’t want those of us who are on limited incomes. It truly is sad. I don’t believe Walt would have EVER wanted it to come to this.

    1. Just saying

Limited income usually means fist fights in the park.

  12. Howie

Disney is not the issue. If you do a bit of research you will find that the lowest cost per pound of crab legs is $28.99, with an avg cost (before shipping and the type / size of legs you order) btwn 39.99 up to 90.00+.

Next is the fishing fleet – Fuel prices have skyrocketed, along with vessel maintenance and crew costs. It’s not cheap to operate these ships with the current economy in a mess.

Now the kicker – “The NOAA Fisheries office in Alaska said it imposed harvest limits after their marine survey revealed that crab stocks did not meet regulatory thresholds to open fisheries.”

Along the Wester Canadian shores, some businesses have already gone through 97% of their cold storage supply, which has caused them to take crab legs off their menus. That’s significant.

So Disney would be taking it in the shorts big time by charging $42.00 per adult and having all-you-can-eat Crab Legs. I know of families who will eat more than 1 lb of crab legs per person. So lets look at this realistically.

    1. RoC

Non-kneejerk comment with facts. Much appreciated.

    2. Kevin M Sharkey

People don’t want to do research. They would rather blame the big bad corporations for all their woes in life.

      1. Julian H

You are just copying and pasting now Kevin

    3. Raise the price, Keep the Crab legs.

  13. Frances

Thank you. I wondered about the New England reference.

  14. Kw

It’s just another thing to charge you. They are taking the fun right out of your vacation.been a dvc member snice 2003 and I think I might get rid of membership.not what walt should have done.

  15. John

While I’m not totally surprised, I follow the show “Deadliest Catch”, and the king crab survey was so bad, they canceled the season. All they could catch is cod and opilio (snow crab). So if it says Alaskan King Crab, they’re from last year, or they’re basically lying to you.

  16. RoC

The problem, as I see it is “all you can eat buffets” i dont go to them because they are not cost effective as well as terribly wasteful. When I did visit a few and crab legs were on the steam table, it repulsed me to see people load up their plates with crab legs which denied other people the ability to get some as well. With today’s idiots at the park it would not take long for a golden corral type melee to take place because of rudeness and gluttony. This was the right thing to do if for safety reasons alone.

  17. At 75 I am totally done with WDW. All the fun in the park is gone with too many restrictions

  18. AH

It said “Disney is over charging and lowering quality in many fans minds”. It’s not in our minds. It is a fact. Inflation is actually running at about 10 to 15 percent and not the 7.5 percent the government says, but Disney has been jacking up prices at more than inflation for years. Besides that, they were always charging 5 to 6 times an item rather than 3. Standard charging is to take an items cost and multiply it times 3: one for the cost, one to cover overhead, and one for profit. $1 item then sells for $3. Ever wonder why Disney Parks drove the entire Financials for the multiglomertit cops? Huge markups.

  19. Rich

I’ll bet CEO “Rob-ya” Chapek doesn’t pay extra for it.

  20. R

Since stupid people NEVER learn, they will continue to complain but still spend their money on this crap.

    1. DLand

Exactly “R”💥 Bam 💥 & it’s NEVER GOING TO STOP because People (up to a point) DON’T CARE & Will pay ANYTHING THROUGH THE NOSE & ALL THE BEHIND THE PEOPLE RUNNING DISNEY are LAUGHING 🤣🤣🤣ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK 🏦 because PEOPLE WONT STOP PAYING MORE!!! Plain & simple!!!

  21. Tracy

Im confused title says taking away fan favorite freebie and charging for it now? What was the freebie? I dont see it mentioned in article?

    1. Peter

Sex. The freebie was sex at the front gate when you first come in. That’s gone now. Very sad.

      1. Michael harbuck

I’m sure it is for you only time you got any

      2. DLand

Peter 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Now THAT WAS FUNNY 🤣🤣🤣 I’m Still laughing 🤣🤣🤣 Some people are either so not in touch or Dense or just don’t see Anything.
Best Answer on this thread 🧵 🤣🤣🤣🤣

        1. Peter

          I aim to please 🙂

  22. Mike

Going to WDW for the Springtime race, but from all the complaints I’ve read lately, it will probably be my last trip. Universal sounds better every day.

    1. Michael Harbuck

If they improve a couple things I’m in agreement

  23. At the prices Disney charges they are no loosing money! There MAYBE a shortage on crab legs, because that’s what they want you to believe, but in reality its just another way to cut something out and charge more! If there was a shortage, the crab legs would not even be offered! This was my wife’s favorite place to eat but not anymore! In a 10 year span Disney has doubled in prices on everything! Receipts from 10 years ago to today prices shows double in price! NO more Disney for us after 34 wonderful trips and all the memories! Thanks Disney but no more! Universal is looking good at a third of the price of a Disney trip!

  24. DLand

Well shiver me timber’s mateies 🏴‍☠️ Thank You Lord, I don’t like or eat crab 🦀 or lobster 🦞 I’ll stick to Shrimp Thank You 🍤 🦐 & I live in Beautiful & Sunny Downtown Anaheim California home of the 1st & Original DISNEYLAND 🥳🎉🥳🎉🥳🎉

  25. Bud the Cat

    Cheap bastards. Always have been.

  26. Bren

Okay, for all saying it is a crab and lobster shortage, defending Disney for once again giving less for more, how about they lower the price of the buffet then? I’m sorry, but I can go to a tourist trap in Williamsburg, VA with an all you can eat seafood buffet and it’s no where close to this ridiculous price for a buffet that now does not include crab legs. But once again Disney is allowed to charge more for less. When will people realize this? Stop defending them saying their profits were down, they’re making up for being closed for Covid, have you not seen the latest quarterly report? Sorry, but if they want to provide 33 1/3% of the experience at a higher price, they can keep it. Either provide the experience or cut the price. But people will keep going. Sorry, not me any time soon. I have better things to do with my money than pay to be frustrated and aggravated all day. Those days are done since Chapek had taken over the parks before being the CEO. Saw it coming, and found somewhere to travel that does appreciate my business, my money, and can be a real vacation after all those years doing Disney. SO sorry, they are suckering you. And all defending this stupidity of Disney, well, quit drinking the Disney kool-aid! Just my opinion.

  27. Ken Brenner

I WAS an annual visitor, staying at the Dolphin Hotel. We normally would eat off site at the nearby Red Lobster for a good bit less than any WDW restaurant. We sometimes at at on the restaurants at the Dolphin (our favorite: The Fountain).
With that background said, I think the negativity towards Disney is more related to the changes proposed or made because of the WOKE-inspired complaints by a loud few. The best example is Splash Mountain, but includes The Jungle Cruise. Another complaint I hear alot is how they are ruining Epcot.
All of this is negative and is passed on each time WDW mentions price increases. These issues are, in my belief, tied together.
Regardless of the topic or complaint, I’m sad that what was a “magical” place to escape from the real world, the real world has come to WDW.

  28. matr

STOP GOING TO DISNEY PARKS PERIOD U IDIOTS!!!

  29. Boston Lobster Feast went from One Location to now Three. They must have done this so they could lose more money ?
