Thank you for the heads up, I’m staying onsite this week and don’t always look closely at my bill. I’ll make sure to check for parking charges and get if fixed
They will give you an itemized bill. In fact there is one available in your MDE account thst you can see on your phone through the app.
Or you can go to the front desk to get an even more detailed bill. All you have to do is ask. The best way to avoid charges is don’t charge anything to the room, then if they say you have a balance, you can legitimately go to the front desk and point out you have charged nothing to the room.
Actually you are the arse for ass-uming. Everyone should ALWAYS ask for an itemized bill from Disney, Universal or anywhere you are staying…ALWAYS. It’s easier to fix on the spot than long distance.
Kamm perhaps you should read the comments, i never said you should not check you bill, but Disney should not be ripping us off by auto adding on things on a whim, which happens a lot it would seem. So read first you just made yourself an Arse it would seem.
The parking charge has been going on for as long as they’ve charged for parking. You should always check your bill. Details are entered most times by humans, and humans can make mistakes. There’s nothing sinister going on.
We checked out and we were charged $25 daily for parking. And we were staying inside in the hotel! Imagine our shock for that while we were eating our $11.95 hamburger!
I just checked out today and they charged me $15 a day to park. As I took Mears I didn’t have a car. I went to the front desk and they took it off. She said that it’s automatically added if you do online check in and arn’t on magical express. I reminded her that doesn’t exist anymore but she just said “yep”. So read your bills carefully at the end. That was $75 they charged me for nothing.
So this part at least was automated, not human error.
Just got back from a trip to Disney World. We arrived via Lyft and checked in online at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I checked my bill and we were charged $25 a day for parking.. thankfully I checked before leaving the resort. Front desk was very helpful in refunding me. Very sneaky on Disney’s end.
I stayed on property and they didn’t have The room available that we had booked in advance and paid for. So they put us in a room that was a category down from what we originally booked so it was cheaper. They owed me a credit for the difference in the price of the room. When I got my final bill , not only did I not get the credit they owed me, but they tried to charge me some bs taxes on the room and also for a fifth sleeper in the room. One problem, there was no fifth sleeper in the room that they put us in AND we paid for our original room taxes and all, in advance. It took four phone calls and probably eight hours total on hold to get it taken care of. It’s not acceptable!
Every charge that seemed mysterious to me turned out to be legitimate. Itemized bills are readily available as others have pointed out. Occasionally, a charge or two will show up on your credit card a week or so after your trip, and usually you will find it was that last minute stop in the resort gift shop or the bagels and coffee you got before you left for the airport. People should be aware of parking charges as now standard at WDW (as they long have been at Universal). If you flew and had no car, do stop at the desk if you see a parking charge. Disabled parkers should be able to get the charge waived for their vehicles. I deal with that when we arrive at the resort, even though we do online check in and usually can go directly to our room. Nothing weird going on here. Just check your bill and dispute any charges you didn’t make, same as at any hotel. Humans make errors, and CM humans can correct them if you ask.
Sandra, Don’t listen to the creatin, yoyo. You, Sandra are absolutely correct. If folks are to much in a hurry to check their bills, well, they can deal long distance instead of immediate resolution.
Change the record Kamm you clearly have more money than sense, yes do check you bill but the problem is Disney are adding charges automatically as it states in the article, that’s fraud, this was not human error.
We are local and my husband always drops us off. I have to have the parking removed each and every time. As big as a company they are , there has to be a fix.
People really should stop thinking of Greedy ChapekLand as the most magical place on earth. It is no longer true. People are frustrated before they even leave home. Fights, arguments, people running into each other due to faces in phones, no magic in the air or even offered. It is not the most magical place on earth anymore. Chapek ruined it. He should no longer be allowed to profit off Walt’s name.
Remember the days when you checked into any hotel and had to show your license and plate number and state? Disney has made this charging thing a horrible experience. You get an email when you use your magic band and sometimes don’t. I got charged twice for Pecos Bill. The person who suggested use cash forgets that mobile order requires that you don’t use it. All I know if I spent another vacation at Disney and had the experience that I had my last trip, the last thing I would want to do is to stand in line to fix a charge that I didn’t use. That would be the topper on the cake.
We stayed at Coronado Springs in Oct 2021 (2 rooms). Paid for parking for 1 room, but received a separate invoice for parking for the second room (1 vehicle). Despite calling, emails, it is still no rectified.
File a written complaint in the form of a strongly worded letter and send a copy to everyone in Disney management, consumer advocacy groups, local governments, the chamber of commerce, the restaurant and hotel association, the tourism bureau and be polite but firm. Follow up on your complaint to seek resolution.
I appreciate this. But luckily did not notice this at Disneyland Hotel itself. It was a pretty great experience overall. They do charge around $35/day to park if you have a car, more for valet.
Goofy’s kitchen is where we were flabbergasted. We went for breakfast service (buffet style) and I walked away from the cashier and let my husband handle it. Apparently they did not give him a price upfront and he assumed I researched this (usually I would). We were surprised they gave us a family picture (idk if it cost extra but we only liked that it was “free”)…then at the end of our meals I almost passed out at the $120 bill for 2 adults and one 9 year old who only had some fruit. Gratuity included but they seemed to expect extra.
On that note; the service was good, and they DID have some classic Disney customer service that is amiss in the parks today. We took one sip each of a drink we did not like ;and they immediately offered to refund it. However we went mostly just to eat, our kiddo is disabled and did not like the character interactions (though they were thoughtful about this too). The food was MEH. TBH it was less satisfactory than Denney’s but my husband is grateful for the experience. I am more regretful.
I’m telling you something has changed at Disney. It’s not the same people running the place anymore. It’s a bunch of greedy bean counters running things now.
And yet, hoardes of people still flock to Disney despite the terrible value it has become. We loved Disney and as native Florida’s, it was our go-to for a fun vacation. This year, after unapologetically making changes to the annual pass system, removing free parking from resort stays and now the implementation of Genie plus just to stand in another line, we are done. No more Disney for us. These were complete deal breakers. Can we still afford Disney? Yep. But our vacation dollar will be going elsewhere. This year? Hawaii!
15 or so years ago staying at BCV on my DVC points I had several hundred charged to my room/credit card that turned out to be another rooms charge. After that I refuse to put my credit or debit card on file. I survive without online check in or mobile ordering. Also had my debit card number stolen another time on vacation at WDW. I now mostly only use disney gift cards I buy at a discount from target or BJs.

Your missing the point – Disney are not only ripping you off they are now stealing from you.
You should not have to go through all this to get an accurate bill its crazy and again Disney just want and will TAKE your cash.
Disney are turning into Gangsters.
Edward Jackson
Yes Disney is horrible, you should never go to Disney ever again. Now maybe the line at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will be under and hour and a half.

Told them at check in: no car. Still, We got charged (Oct 2021) for parking. They sent us a separate invoice. Still dealing with it.

I got charged a fee for a missed dining reservation when in fact we did attend. Not sure how that happened, I called and it was refunded.
