People got suckered into buying it and now they dont like it. It seems like the Disney Youtubers are praising the system.

Of course they are when most of the successful ones get it paid for by Disney to review it

Just another thing that has eroded the “Disney Magic.” My wife and I were so disappointed.

Genie+ wouldn’t be so bad if you received at least 1 pas for each ride, but effectively you’re paying for a Disney lotto. We did it once and were able to use it on exactly 2 attractions that day. Just not worth it. Rise of the resistance was the only attraction worth paying extra for… and I do it again.

Instead of Genie+, Disney should go with a tiered ticket system tied to what you want to do. Some people want to shop and eat only, so Disney is making plenty of money above and beyond the ticket from them.

They should have at least three tiers. $60 range for shopper only. $95 for all access but as standby lines. $130 for all access plus one LL per attraction.

Probably sponsored. Youtuber Adam Hattan doesn’t. He posted him getting out of a line and said it’s a waste of money. Think the crowds gave him a panic attack if I remember him saying. It seems to have made the parks unbearable. Put me off going this Feb and booked a different trip. It’s too expensive anyway to come away disappointed. I read today Space Mountain at DLC had a wait of 240 minutes. That’s your day gone essentially.

Stupid question – The wait time for Space Mountain – was that the regular wait time or Lightening Lane? Thanks

As a Disney consumer I’m livid with these changes. As a stockholder I’m livid with the recent decline in value. BOTH of these guys suck at their job and should be replaced immediately.

Visitor to WDW 5 or six times a year for 20 years, from Michigan. The Fastpass system, and the ease it brought to planning our one to two week visits, prompted us to become AP holders. On our last visit at the end of November we manages 3 experiences per day, and the complexity and inconvenience of mobile ordering made our Landry’s card a great meal planner. AP has become as poor an investment of funds as the parks are a poor investment of time.

    Blame them all.

Sadly it will continue until we the people stop
Purchasing genie+ That’s the only way they will stop this and the reservation system is if we don’t go. Have a Disney protest for a month and stop going. That’s the only way they will listen but sadly I doubt that will ever happen

Disney needs to get rid of G+ and bring back fastpass. I was all for G+ at first until I notice that it’s not working like it promised. The whole thing is a mess.

  5. Agree completely. We must send a complaint in the form of a strongly worded letter directly to Disney and let them know we are not happy.

I don’t like the idea of 2 separate classes of disneyland citizens.
I don’t like the emotions it stirs on either side of the story.
Disneyland used to be a place where all the guests were equal and united.
Now there’s an ugly us-&-them feel.
Reminds me of the classic book about the
    Star-Belly-Sneeches

I went to Disneyland on a Sunday. My longest wait was maybe 30 minutes. Every ride I did, the wait time was MUCH faster than the posted time. Heck, Smuggler’s Run said 10 minutes & it was a walk on….twice.

All this was on January 9th.

I’m glad I didn’t spend the money on Genie+ because I didn’t even need it even though the park was busy.

Genie plus would be great if you could book more than one attraction at a time. I would pay 20 dollars extra per person per day if I could have a return time for each ride I wanted to ride. But they way it works now is you can’t book your next ride until 1) you scan into the first one or 2) two hours after you book the first fast pass. By this time alot of the rides are booked up for the day and the fast pass becomes useless. Universal fast pass is better in that you can pretty much use it for all the rides and you get more than two attractions in. I will however agree that rise of the resistance is one ride I will always be happy to pay for separately.

Fast pass, tiered tickets, Genie+, whatever.

All of these are an attempt to do one thing:

    Mitigate traffic.

The parks are crowded, lines are long, and there are still people lining up to pay housing-inflation-rate prices for tickets, food, fast passes, freaking popcorn buckets from a barely tolerable character, and there is zero decline in crowds or wait times.

Until the House of Mouse actually sees a decrease in revenue that cannot be made up by increasing prices, this is what is going to happen.

We don’t matter, until there’s enough of us not going to ding Disney. That time is a very long way away, though.

I think Genie is garbage. I loved fast pass. I am an AP and I haven’t ridden a single ride since it came out. The lines are all tremendously long and when I went to try Genie there was no times until the end of the day. I miss when I could just pick 3 ride times and know that I, at least, had those. It may not even be a super popular ride but I knew I was riding something.

The genie plus system while frustrating to figure out at first, my kids blame my lack of tech expertise, helped make my two days at Disneyland and then California Adventure with my two daughters flawless. Our two days flowed so perfectly over a holiday weekend we only did in two short 20 minutes lines for some non popular rides cause we were killing time til our fast pass time was ready else where. Besides that we walked from ride to ride with little wait and ate food ordering mobile in perfect sequence. It was amazing!

Genie+ is horrible! Absolute waste of money and time. Whatever Imagineer came up with this should be forced to walk the plank. Fastpass was soooo much better, especially for guests staying on sight. There is absolutely no benefit to staying on sight nor getting Genie•. In fact, our family has been come for years, has spent 10s of thousands over the last 15 yrs – this is going to be our last trip for a very long time. COVID shmovid, Genie• is a huge epic fail.
