To be clear, Fastpass severely backed up the queues across all Parks as well, folks are just now noticing this fact as we come back from that rather long pandemic induced break. For some, life under Fastpass was all they’ve ever known as those children and gen Z’s have never experienced a Disney Park without it.
Fastpass and Lightning Lane are toxic to the parks, Disney should have just quietly done away with it and never looked back considering the prices they’re charging these days, and especially considering the low quality of available offerings and upcharge experiences.
I agree they are toxic, I have decided since wednesday ( the last straw) that if I get to a ride and it says the ride is more than a 45 minute wait, I will NOT bother with it…….My husbands birthday was wednesday and he wanted to ride the pandora ride so badly. We waited over 2.5 hours which is over 1.5 hours longer than we waited without anyone having the lightening lane pass or genie…….I just cannot describe how we feel about waiting for such a long time for a ride especially with the cost of getting in the park is so high plus we have not seen a tram yet at MK and I have been told they are running………We went to MK on christmas day, and AK on jan 5 and we used to go to a park 3 times a week, but just cannot stand the long waits
We chose not to purchase the new genie+ option or LL and were very frustrated with what this has done to the entire Disney experience. For example, when Peter Pan’s standby-by wait time was only 30 minutes we hopped in line. We ended up waiting 90 minutes because the Lightening Lane was so full they rarely let the stand-by queue go. We told staff how drastically inaccurate the wait times were as in the past Disney had always seemed to set expectations differently and the cast member simply shrugged his shoulders! Additionally the “free” Genie suggestions in the app did not match up with our own experiences and we felt like it was “steering” us inaccurately in the “wrong” direction possibly more to Disney’s benefit than our guest experience.
My family was able to use the Genie + and Lightning Lane on our last visit to Disneyland and California Adventure in December. I have to say that our experience was AMAZING!!! The longest we had to wait was 10 minutes and that was because Space Mountain temporarily stopped working, most other attractions including Matterhorn, Thunder Mountain, GOG we walked right on. We are Magic Key holders and this is absolutely worth the additional cost. We saved so much time NOT waiting in lines that we were able to enjoy everything the parks have to offer.
