We have pretty much stopped dining there and Kona (the big Kahuna breakfast used to be actually something BIG). I can’t think of a single dining experience that is worthy of $50 a plate anymore.
We were just at Ohana and it was a huge disappointment. Not worth the $55 per person price. Presentation looked like a mess, food was fair. I never mind spending money on meals but this was not worth the cost at all. We tried Kona as well. Felt like I was eating in a cafeteria. The sushi rolls looked like I bought them at a supermarket. The drinks were undrinkable, tasted like medicine and were returned.
Sad to say I will not be returning to the Polynesian any time soon.
Side note:our server at Kona was kind and professional. This is no reflection on her or any other staff.
I definitely feel like Ohana has gone downhill. I am not a huge meat or seafood eater. The only meat items that I eat there are the dumplings and the chicken. I used to love the noodles, rice, veggies, bread, and dessert. Because everything was AYCE, absolutely delicious, cooked fresh, and brought to the table, I still didn’t mind the price. I always wished there was an option to get a bowl at Kona or Captain Cook’s with the noodles or rice, and choice of meat or vegetables from Ohana, kind of like what you get at Sa’tuli. I went in mid November, and felt ripped off. The chicken was HORRIBLE. Once it was definitely raw in the middle, then it was overcooked, rubbery, dry, and lukewarm. The dumplings were totally inedible. The bread, noodles, and dessert were lackluster, and tasted way different than they used to. They were bland and mushy. All of the food was cold, and the salad was warm instead of cold. I definitely felt I would’ve gotten better value roasting a $50 bill. At least that would provide some entertainment, since there are no longer characters and games. I left there, and decided to go to City Walk because I was starving. I was on vacation, and wanted the really good dinner that I was expecting. We usually eat the free continental breakfast, quick service lunch, and splurge at dinner. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed. City Walk did not disappoint. I grabbed a few different things from different places, but had a big meal at Toothsome’s. It was a lot cheaper per meal, had a better atmosphere, the portions were huge and included leftovers, and everything was so delicious. Bob Paycheck is basically charging the old character dining prices for no characters or entertainment, less food, and poor food quality. Anywhere he can cut corners he will, so he can keep giving himself raises.
To the reporter that went to Ohana for the story… Rather than speculate on why there were Hawaiian rolls served instead of the regular bread, why not try asking them directly and provide that answer to your readers rather than guess and make everyone else wonder and grumble?

Yall need to get to the point with your “news” cut out the BS intro to the news story and just talk about what happened.

I wish they would bring back original marinated skewered turkey. That was the best
