If people buy companies will sell it. Look at the other day. People waited 6 hours for a plastic bucket that you will find on Goodwill shelves next year. Disney is selling out park tickets and hotel rooms. So the comment made was not unkind.
Until Bob’s lawyers go after them with a cease & desist and then gets them shut down. Disney want every dollar and can’t have artist and crafters turning out MUCH better quality items than their crap.
They are having major supply chain problems like everyone else. Have you been to your local stores? I mean shelves Hardy have anything. This PLANDEMIC has caused major problems everywhere. Right now people are doing what they can to make things work. Because of the supply chain, Disney is out of Legacy Lightsabers because of the supply chain problems. Shipping in the states is one thing but things coming from overseas, thats the problem.
It is unfortunate that merchandise, food, and customer service has declined and the price has gone up. My sister ordered 2 of the infamous spirit jerseys for Christmas. That spirit jersey was not just poor quality but it was bait and switch. People ordered a product pictured (a $120 shirt) and naively thought that is what they would receive. Shame on you Disney. The infamous shirt is selling at high prices on ebay.
That happened to me with the spirit jersey. I then bought the correct one one we were here, and the stitching for the “50th” on the front has already begun seriously unraveling. It was only worn a couple of hours before it started.
We last visited WDW in December 2019 and were disappointed in the general quality of the merchandise (t-shirts, sweatshirts and blankets) compared to previous visits between 2000 and 2017. We are due to visit in March and will probably restrict ourselves to glassware and ceramics, TBH.
What none of these people are telling you is it’s not a Disney issue but a supply chain issue which is going on for everyone because of this Covid crap. Supply issues are a problem everywhere. The plastic bad at Savi’s isn’t because they decided to change it, it’s because they are having shipping issues. People need to chill, I mean has everyone forgotten what has been going on the past 22 months?
Apparently they think the pandemic isn’t real. We just got back and we’re disappointed that the one lightsaber my son built was substituted the part he wanted for the other choice (2 of the same piece, pick one, a or a) not cool. No way to retro to get the one he came for. Now that would be a nice surprise to be given a voucher to order that one part when it returns. Same with the legacies. He really was looking forward to those too.
They are offering a 10% discount now. Again, as guests, we really need to give them a break. They are in the same boat everyone is. As for as Chapek, yes I agree go away.
Not just the merch but the handling of the merch by the sales people. I hade a salesperson break an ornament while wrapping it, I know this was the case cause the broken piece was not with it when I unwrapped it at home, and when I went to pay for a shirt that didn’t have a tag, instead of scanning the tag of another same shirt the lady switched them and I ended up with the wrong size which was supposed to be a gift. The R2D2 light up model was missing a part out of the sealed box, again I am sure because I dumped the entire bag of parts directly into a plastic container to make sure none of them went flying across the table. The shirts and sweatshirts are super lightweight and stitching is poor quality. Bad look for such expensive merch.
The new magic bands are poor quality. We bought 3 new ones this past week in Epcot. 2 of them fell right of our wrist. Found 1 lost another at 34.00 a pop. Older bands are better quality. Nothing but disappointments with Disney. Also had problems the first aid station in Hollywood Studios with my daughter who has Cerebral Palsy. Filed a complaint with Guest Services.
My spouse and I went to Disney 50th in September 2021. We has a wonderful time. We found many 50th anniversary souvenirs (key chains, Disney ears, Christmas decorations and a beautiful 50th anniversary hooded sweatshirt. I wear this a lot in Indiana where it’s freezing from November -early March. Thanks Disney for a great vacation
That’s wonderful. I like to see a positive story. So many negative stories on the blogs is disheartening although informative. I have noticed that they seem to run out of things. My daughter visited in December 2021 on Christmas break. A disney basic staple the coffee cup was not to be found at the Emporium or DS World of Disney. It’s not just quality; Disney does not seem to have the ability to stock their shelves.
In 2017 we went to Disneyland Anaheim , the original park ,it was fun , when we were leaving we bought a tub of popcorn . The popcorn got eaten half way in the ride home , it was dark ,and so we didn’t notice but after arriving home we realized the leftover popcorn was full of green paint from the tub the popcorn had been popped in had she’d green paint . We tried to notify with no avail . My grandson had boughten me a Carmel apple as a surprise souvenir , when I started eating I realized the Carmel had a steel nuthead from the machine that must have stirred the Carmel . Quite a dangerous thing for a child . When we realized that , I , myself ,tried contacting Disney about their quality control . They never sent me a inquiry or even a reply , we haven’t been back since . The old Disney that we went to since the 50s never would have allowed that , but I guess this is progress , In myself was upset about both situations and the possibilities that no one cared. 2 bad things in one trip , and we drove 8 hours to get there so we couldn’t just take back , we won’t be going back ,it’s been 5 years ,I probley won’t go back in this lifetime , sadly we used to take the trip every couple of years .
Just go to Universal, people. Much better experience in every way now. They haven’t cut back on anything. You get way more for your money there. I live in Orlando and have totally given up on Disney. So many disappointments and so much nickle and diming the customer. Even SeaWorld and Busch Gardens are more fun at this point and their Fun Cards are so cheap.
I know people don’t want to hear this, but the best way to get Disney back on track is to stop going there and stop spending your money on anything Disney. Disney will never have an incentive to improve if everyone keeps going there, no matter how much you complain.
I am also disappointed with Disney merchandise. Went to Disney world, all parks and bought a few things, like a Eeyore ornament for my mom and a few cool pins but other than that all the stuff was so unappealing.
Some items were not for kids and not for adults so they were hard to see if they are right for me.
Was hoping for Grumpy and Donald shirts, but all the ones available were more for “women” with swirly lines and texture. Not for me.
I recently ordered a baseball cap from shop disney. It was unbelievably poor quality. It seriously was only out of the box for a minute. I sent it immediately back.
I absolutely love Disneyland, so it has been such a somber time that I haven’t been able to go. This past Christmas I wanted to go all out and buy Disney gifts for my family via ShopDisney. I did find good quality products, but I saw a lot of products that seemed of lesser quality. So much that I didn’t purchase a few gifts and had to improvise because I didn’t want to give my family something that wasn’t what I know Disney can offer. I managed, but I know there were many items I wished I could’ve bought for my family but didn’t because of the low quality. All in all, I just can’t wait for the virus to alleviate… I want to go home.
Quality control has absolutely gone downhill. As soon as the parks opened back up to cast members we went to support and bought Disney themed light up Crocs for all the kids. Each pair is absolute garbage and have been swapped 2-4 times. Either half the lights stop working, or all the lights stop working, or the straps break, or the holes the straps go through wear out. We have Crocs that have lasted years with little wear other than the soles but these things can’t last months than 4-6 months before they just can’t be worn anymore. Well finally just told the kids no more once the last sets started breaking. Not to mention the shirts that came with holes or seams that couldn’t pay a single wash. We’ve wasted so much money on clothing at this point but the discount is the only perk they didn’t take away from us CT so we use it whenever we can.
He was hired to make money and is doing it. Quality control was going down hill 10 years ago. Signing a petition will do no good. It is not like your trying to recall a Governor…lol.
I’ll defend Disney on this because even though it’s kind of became a joke supply chain really is that screwed up. The only reason I know this is that I sit next to someone who works in supply chain and listening to the problems companies have is crazy. There are metal companies that are having a hard time because they can’t get the metal billets to actually do anything with. If you’re trying to get things to the park fast to sell generally you’re going to have problems with QC because that is where the time sacrifice is made.
As far as prices go we’re currently dealing with massive inflation. December alone was 7% (the worst in about 40 years). This is going to cause the prices to increase because it get passed down to the consumers like it does in everything. It’s sad but something we don’t think of. Sorry to have to defend Disney on this.
B-s! Go look at the new starwars dolls and compare them to old school action figures and plushies.
That’s not quality control! That’s more like cheap knock off.
Absolutely crap.
And don’t blame inflation because Disney always raises their price to cover costs.
You are correct. I work in the Supply Chain and steel, chips, produce, etc is in high demand, low supply. Add a worldwide shortage of Drivers, political unrest, etc. Sit back and buckle up because it has only started.
Yep. The Salacious Crumb merch found in the Star Wars area (Galaxy’s Edge) was even too low rent for this Salacious Crumb super fan. I would have paid hundreds for a quality plush, puppet, etc. In
In the Marvel area they went with the story that Hank Pimm shrank the eggs. It would have been a much better story, meal, and overall experience if they went with Hank Pimm enlarging the eggs. Did Hank turn into a villain at some point? Why would he shrink the eggs?
I came from out of state, and still couldn’t get into Rise of the Resistance. We tried for several days. We should have been able to reserve Rise of the Resistance, Oga’s Cantina, and anything else when we reserved our spot to get into the park.
So low quality merch, cutting serious corners at the restaurants, and a mess of a reservation system.
Sad to see such a great escape turn to this when we all need an escape more than ever.
When we go home for Christmas we usually bring everyone back one of their Christmas scenes (Mickey and friends on sleigh, Mackey and friends on train, etc). This year? Nope. Nada. Nothing worth buying.
We used to love going to World of Disney as they put out new merchandise for each season. Lately, the merch has been total garbage
Lol… your in a pandemic that is causing turmoil in the supply chain. Quality has been going down for 10 years. People just now noticing. Before he cam in board average sit down was $60. Tickets same price as before and he was not in charge when hotels started charging for parking
Prices are up and quality is down. Tshirts are paper thin. And I have tried to find a 2022 T-shirt in every shop from the Emporium to World of Disney and everything in between, there were no 2022 shirts to be had. I see people
wearing them but they’re from Amazon.
Its why people are going to places like etsy to find custom Disney stuff because not only are the products laking quality they are laking style and attention to detail. I have noticed this change way before now. End caps of cheap plastic castle banks. The only real place to get nice nick knacks in WDW is in the Art store in Disney Springs. Which makes me think is the core of the issue lay in the art department of the products department of WDC. Because the items in this store are made by freelance artist and are 1000 times more creative.
This is 100% true and one of my biggest issues. There used to be items you could only find at a Disney park but now everything is commercially made and distributed and most of it is junk. That, on top of the (inflated) nickel and dime pricing, does not make me care about visiting. I’d rather spend my money elsewhere.
And then Disney sends a cease & desist to these artists and crafters on etsy and gets them shut down. I know a couple on FB, who make gorgeous, fully encrusted with crystals, mouse ears. The mouse’s lawyers are in the process of shutting them down. Their gold 50th ears (for $60), look SO much better than the $750 ones Dis put out.
Sad, I used to go to Disney every other year. I can’t justify it now. It has become not so magical. Cheap merchandise, poor customer service, and the food quality have tanked. Hope they can fix things, it was such a magical place once upon a time!!
WE used to go to a disney park 2 to 3 times a week ……Now its still fun for us to go but we have been going 1 time every 10 to 14 days………The cast members have never been rude to us , they just seem frustrated because I always hear guests yelling at them , the guests get in a line and stand and take pictures for minutes at a time, they let their kids run amuck and do whatever they want to do…..very few make their kids behave……..I honestly got sick to my stomach watching a little girl running around her dad in circles for half an hour in a line . my husband asked him if she was getting dizzy and dad just said I dont want to tell her NO she cant do that. Technically she wasnt hurting anyone but I did have to leave the line because I knew it was going to be another at least 20 minute wait ………Anyways the merchandise part………Yes the quality has gone down especially with the ears and the price has practically doubled……I have around 40 ears but havent bought one in probably 4 to 5 months because most of them are cheap plastic. I like the soft cloth ones…….the last pair I saw I liked were marked 59 dollars…forget it……..I have been looking for a particular lounge fly bag for someone for over a month and havent found one yet. either they dont get many in or people are hoarding them to sell on ebay or somewhere , Now I just want a valentine minnie doll . I also bought a couple of the large mickey cookies with the ears dipped in chocolate but threw both of them away after taking a few bites of a very stale cookie……. But I can say i have had a lot more money in my pocket lately…..and looks like I will have even more if this keeps up
Lorraine check shopDisney for a valentines Minnie. I have Mickey and Minnie in cute valentines outfit being delivered soon. They were on sale for $16 each.
It’s all about the bottom line. I mean let’s face it Disney’s like every other corporation. Don’t care about the customers don’t care about the cast members but do really care about the investors. Sad to say.
I already sign the “fire bob cheapskate” petition but Disney has been going down hill since Kathleen Kennedy and similar like minds took over.
It’s a damn shame.
Recently sailed on The Dream (this was our 4th cruise) in October, so we’re fairly used to Disney overpricing their merchandise especially on the ship. On the Disney island I spotted a short thin material dress, child size 6, on the rack. Was expecting $24.99 maybe even $29.99…..price tag shocked me…..$39.99! I started looking at all the merchandise….of it increased at least $10-15 of what we’ve paid in the past. It was a bit sad.
I have been a huge supporter of Disney merchandise for years. I now will not purchase the clothing. It is thin, zippers break on first use and images wash of after first use.
Disneyland park and dca pay below minimum wage in the parks. Seriously, make better money working at the gas station across the street.
I’m sure they cheap-out in every possible way to increase the corporate profits.
I doubt that old Walt would be a fan of the new corporation.
Disney experience is trash. We have annual passes and they oversell genie+ and lightning lane. Got in line with a 35 minute wait time and got out after 75 minutes because of that lightning lane. I literally watched 40+ people be let through on Toy Story Mania then 1-2 groups from the regular lane then back to the lightning lane for another 40+ people. Watched the scanner blink blue and they just let people through or some didn’t scan cause it was just herding cattle. That whole upcharge for Genie+/lightning lane is running the experience. I’m just going to keep going to Universal instead since I have passes to both.
DEFINITELY!! We have bought the Lunar New Year shirt almost every year but did not get last year’s shirt due to cheap fabric and shoddy imprint design. Each year the shirt has gotten less and less appealing. Taking less care with product. This is only one example.
We recently ran the Walt Disney world marathon. I had completed two other previous Disney world marathons. The quantity of items was embarrassing to be honest. We arrived and there was not even one race marathon shirt in my size. The majority of items were gone so they were selling run Disney merchandise that they had put out there since all else specific to the race had been sold. They even started selling the display signs, desperate to sell something from the race. I usually spend close to 300 dollars and we didn’t buy one thing.
I guess people would if they can’t buy decent stuff. It is a shame. I am disappointed period with Disney. We are loosing our good Actors and actresses too. It is disgusting that Hollywood has gone to the dogs and movie stars that are American born have to go to Europe or foreign countries just to make a living, because the movie companies have lost their marbles, and get their noses into private matters they had no business doing. 😢
Even before the world came to a halt, the diversity of merchandise was changing. I noticed it a lot at EPCOT where in the world showcase pavilions there was formerly lots of items from the particular countries. I was noticing that more and more of it was getting replaced with generic Disney merchandise that has little to no relevance to the pavilion it was in. Easy example – in the UK pavilion, there used to be lots of British items in there (I bought a lot of Doctor Who stuff in there), Beatles, and lots of other British items. The last time I went in there it was replaced with Winnie the Pooh. Of course Norway became littered with nothing but Frozen stuff all over.
I won’t speak for the quality as I’ve not bought anything in some time now, but the variety has been declining for a while. Even while I was in Disneyland Paris in late 2019, it was nearly impossible to find anything exclusive to that resort. Everything was generic and didn’t even has the resort’s name. I found exactly two sweatshirts that actually had the name Disneyland Paris. Everything else was generic Mickey stuff. At WDW there are lots of shirts and different things with the castle on it and tons with the resort’s logo. That didn’t exist at DLP. Maybe it was a seasonal thing, but even when inquiring, no one could direct me to that type of merchandise there. It was all very generic and felt like items that could be acquired at a mall Disney store. I found precisely ONE mug at DLP that actually had a small portion of the castle on it as well as the name of the resort. To little surprise it was the exact same one at the France pavilion at world showcase with a slightly different name on it (and no castle in the background). No joke – not one single mug at DLP with the castle on it. I actually had to get a custom etched one at a glass stand there as nothing existed. Wild!
I’ve seen this for some time now where the distinction between parks and resorts has been eroding. Look at the bags used at checkout – they just reference “Disney Parks”. Ditto for the umbrellas. Keychains have a generic castle. That is purely a cost-cutting measure. It’s not terrible, but makes each place a little less special on its own. Luckily the reusable bags that people buy are still (currently) distinctive, but I’m expecting that won’t last either.
I’ve always loved buying Disney merchandise and have a huge collection of Disney mugs dating well over 20 years. I love bags, phone cases, watches (previously), pens, books, almost anything. I like the unique and more specific items versus just generic “disney parks” stuff. Just feels lazy and cheap to me. I haven’t bought a mug in a while as there haven’t been many good ones.
I am here at Disney now and have never been so disappointed in a vacation. I have been coming here for 25 years and have had great memories.
This year has bought nothing but disappointment, the food, the lack and quality of merchandise, and rudeness of staff has left me speechless.
Like everyone else I work hard for my money and pay a hefty penny to come here on vacation with my family.
I feel Disney is losing it appeal and at this rate will be losing many guests as they will choose to bring their money elsewhere. Next trip will be to Busch Gardens and Universal as I’d rather give them a try and my money I’d they are even a step above what this trip has provided … beware anyone planning a trip to Disney in the near future! Never ever did I think I’d be writing a bad post against what was one of my favorite vacation spots
It’s as simple as FIRE CHAPEK! Almost ANY one of the people on this thread could run Disney better. Get rid of the entertainment networks, ABC, ESPN, etc. Disney Parks fans don’t care about the networks and higher park prices to support the networks and their employees. Go back to Walt’s dreams. Not the dollars dreams.
I need to say something I been seeing stuff like this everywhere. The problem is not Disney itself bit the supply chain is wreck everywhere right now. That is the reason things are the way they are. The plastic bag thing at Savi’s wasn’t a choice, it’s because of shipping issues. Right now they are sold out of Legacy Lightsabers because of the supply chain. People not to stop blaming Disney, this problem is everywhere. Hell just go to your local Walmarts and see for yourselves. Shelves are empty. (Note: Me and my wife are going to Disney World next Friday, Jan 28th – Feb 5th. My wife was able to reserve my spot at Savi’s workshop this morning. May not get the legacy saber I wanted but I do get to build one which excites me even more because I have a couple 3D printers at home and some hilts I printed that fit with Savi’s chassis. Yay
I go to Ca. Disney resort park every December We get totally inspired to go home and get our tree up my tree has lots of glass bulbs of disney. Today the last few years they sell Crap! plastic! So Very Sad, I will not send my Hard earned money on any more Disney’s True Crap…. Disney Corporation even middle class folks like nice pretty things..Saddd
Went to MK in December with family. Just wanted a cute 50th anniversary Christmas ornament. None to be found there or Downtown Disney. Very dissatisfied in the quality and quantity of the merchandise.
I went to Disneyland for a day back in October and I also noticed damaged and poor quality merchandise as well as the same stuff that was there when I went right before covid exploded. I got myself some Haunted Mansion art in California Adventure, but other than that I left with nothing else. And that’s rare for me.
Disney food quality went down hill with free dining. Quality of merchandise has gone down way before covid. People are just know being awaken of the fact. Look all around you as there is a huge supply chain issue and is going to get worse. Ask your grandparents and great grands what living during WW2 and the depression was like because like they say in Piarates “you are living in it. “
Been a dvc member since 95 this was the sadist trip for me I had 3 grandkids with and bucks to spend .spent 368. Dollars for the worst and sloppiest GERMAN BUFFET AT EPCOT! IM 70 AND SPENT 1700 HUNDRED FOR TICKETS THAT I DID USE JUST TO BE WITH MY FAMILY ! NO SENIOR DISCOUNTS ! SEASON TICKET HOLDERS GET ALL THE PERKS. WENT HOME WITH NO 50TH SOUVENIERS THERE WAS NONE WORTH BUYING ! THEY HAD YEARS TO PLAN AND PEOPLE GOT SCAMMED !
Sorry folks but this is a NOT an issue caused by the pandemic or supply chain issues. True, those issues are exacerbating the issue of poor quality of Disney items, but the decrease in quality has been happening for some time now. I bought a souvenir shirt for the re-opening of Pixar Pier during Pixar Fest back in 2018, and after 3 wearings and washings, the collar stretched out, the stitching on the sleeves began to unravel, and the printed logo on the front had begun to fall apart. We used to go to Disneyland at least two to three times a year, and over the last 5-6 years, I’ve noticed the quality of Disney items has dropped considerably. We now go to the parks maybe once or twice every two years. Where we used to spend $200-300 on souvenirs every trip, now we spend maybe $100. The quality is just not there. If you want a change, speak up with your wallets. Don’t buy the cheap garbage just so you can say you did. And don’t stand in line for 6 BLEEPING HOURS for a cheap plastic popcorn bucket that you would pass up in the dollar store if it didn’t have a Disney logo on it.
I don’t want spirit jerseys! I want nice art and collectibles. It’s insane. I guess the majority of people buy crappy clothes because that’s all they carry. I know there’s only so much shelf space, but to not carry things on shop disney is even worse.
Anyone who has been around awhile can easily see the quality of merchandise, food offerings and even quality of lands and attractions has slipped dramatically. A 100% cotton tshirt or sweatshirt in the past was a nice thick thread count and the items lasted for years. I know because I have several. The ones are much much cheaper quality. There is no comparison. Other items like the old Pieces of Eight were a really nice thick heavy piece you could personalize is gone. The fritters were the best at the stand by POTC now they are small and not good. In the old days candy came in little square plastic boxes with gold Disneyland logo. Now just a plastic bag. They cut everywhere they can and it’s shameful as the costs for entry and merch has increased way far above consumer price index. You no longer have all the shows like in Frontierland or the acts at Tomorrowland Terrace. Cost of things like a balloon that don’t cost them .50 cents they get $12-$15 for or $5 for a small popcorn. It’s price gouging at its height. It’s ok to go have fun at any age don’t let the corporate apologists dissuade you just because some want the stuff and can afford it Disney and Chapek will continue to push prices. It’s simply corporate greed. And don’t forget there’s a plan to recoup the losses while they were closed down. Money grab is plain and simple. It doesn’t mean you can’t still believe in the magic and have a fantastic time and also believe they are ripping people off and it’s wrong.
Comments for Guests Disappointed With Disney Merch, Has “Lost All Quality Control”
Not a sheep
As long as the unwashed keep shelling out their hard earned cash for the merchandise, Disney will continue selling this crap.
Sandra J Swanson
That was a very unkind comment. The only thing you were correct about is lower quality merch and higher prices
Not a sheep
Why is it unkind? That’s exactly how the WDW executives view us.
K
If people buy companies will sell it. Look at the other day. People waited 6 hours for a plastic bucket that you will find on Goodwill shelves next year. Disney is selling out park tickets and hotel rooms. So the comment made was not unkind.
Puckles
Agreed. Adult morons who refuse to ever grow up.
Idontcare
So then why are you here?
JohnWinheim
I guess people should be buying things YOU want them to or not. Why do you care soo much about what others buy? Sheesh get a life.
Not a sheep
You’re special, aren’t you?

Quality disney merchandise can be found on etsy.com. American crafters making really nice things.
Jennifer Lower

“PLANDEMIC” derp
You sound really smart, Dalton.
Do you wonder why you’re mocked 24/7? Wonder no longer.

You sound edgy as a mofo. Damn, bruh!

Unwashed? Holier-than-thou much?

It is unfortunate that merchandise, food, and customer service has declined and the price has gone up. My sister ordered 2 of the infamous spirit jerseys for Christmas. You preach girl!!
Lacey
That happened to me with the spirit jersey. I then bought the correct one one we were here, and the stitching for the “50th” on the front has already begun seriously unraveling. It was only worn a couple of hours before it started.

That’s shameful. All that money. How disappointing
Bonnie
We last visited WDW in December 2019 and were disappointed in the general quality of the merchandise (t-shirts, sweatshirts and blankets) compared to previous visits between 2000 and 2017. We are due to visit in March and will probably restrict ourselves to glassware and ceramics, TBH.
beautiful gorgeous
Not really interested in faded shirts that they call vintage
Sandra J Swanson
Not just Disney world, California Disney is just as bad
K
It comes from the same vendors.

Guests had to fight for a discount on light sabers. Paying full price and not getting a carrying case, not acceptable.
Shane P Dalton

That is exactly what happens when MBA’s start running a company – reduce quality – increase prices and regard your customers as a crop to be harvested
Ms Debra

That’s what happens when you sell out to China. It’s all about profit. I wouldn’t buy anything Chisney at this point.

Steve Eldredge
You’re absolutely right about Universal.
I know people don’t want to hear this, but the best way to get Disney back on track is to stop going there and stop spending your money on anything Disney. Disney will never have an incentive to improve if everyone keeps going there, no matter how much you complain.
Universal!
Melissa
And Universal Orlando has the Velocicoaster! 👍🏼

I gave Disney t shirts from etsy.com. They were well received. Shopdisney did not appeal to me this year. Very sad.

J
B-s! Go look at the new starwars dolls and compare them to old school action figures and plushies.
That’s not quality control! That’s more like cheap knock off.
Absolutely crap.
And don’t blame inflation because Disney always raises their price to cover costs.
K
You are correct. I work in the Supply Chain and steel, chips, produce, etc is in high demand, low supply. Add a worldwide shortage of Drivers, political unrest, etc. Sit back and buckle up because it has only started.
MARK CARRAS
Greg
When we go home for Christmas we usually bring everyone back one of their Christmas scenes (Mickey and friends on sleigh, Mackey and friends on train, etc). This year? Nope. Nada. Nothing worth buying.
We used to love going to World of Disney as they put out new merchandise for each season. Lately, the merch has been total garbage
Randy Hodo
The new CEO tanked the company for the almighty dollar. Way to go, Disney. Goodbye.
J
That pink dragon bucket has better details then all of the crap they sell at the bazaar in starwars land.
K
Lol… your in a pandemic that is causing turmoil in the supply chain. Quality has been going down for 10 years. People just now noticing. Before he cam in board average sit down was $60. Tickets same price as before and he was not in charge when hotels started charging for parking
Sue
The stuff is made in China. What do you want and anyone who waits in line for 7 hours for a plastic bucket that’s made in China is crazy. Sorry.
Rox
Prices are up and quality is down. Tshirts are paper thin. And I have tried to find a 2022 T-shirt in every shop from the Emporium to World of Disney and everything in between, there were no 2022 shirts to be had. I see people
wearing them but they’re from Amazon.
joe
Its why people are going to places like etsy to find custom Disney stuff because not only are the products laking quality they are laking style and attention to detail. I have noticed this change way before now. End caps of cheap plastic castle banks. The only real place to get nice nick knacks in WDW is in the Art store in Disney Springs. Which makes me think is the core of the issue lay in the art department of the products department of WDC. Because the items in this store are made by freelance artist and are 1000 times more creative.
Unmagic
This is 100% true and one of my biggest issues. There used to be items you could only find at a Disney park but now everything is commercially made and distributed and most of it is junk. That, on top of the (inflated) nickel and dime pricing, does not make me care about visiting. I’d rather spend my money elsewhere.
Erjen
And then Disney sends a cease & desist to these artists and crafters on etsy and gets them shut down. I know a couple on FB, who make gorgeous, fully encrusted with crystals, mouse ears. The mouse’s lawyers are in the process of shutting them down. Their gold 50th ears (for $60), look SO much better than the $750 ones Dis put out.
Pete
Sad, I used to go to Disney every other year. I can’t justify it now. It has become not so magical. Cheap merchandise, poor customer service, and the food quality have tanked. Hope they can fix things, it was such a magical place once upon a time!!
lorraine
But I can say i have had a lot more money in my pocket lately…..and looks like I will have even more if this keeps up
Erjen
Lorraine check shopDisney for a valentines Minnie. I have Mickey and Minnie in cute valentines outfit being delivered soon. They were on sale for $16 each.
Joe
It’s all about the bottom line. I mean let’s face it Disney’s like every other corporation. Don’t care about the customers don’t care about the cast members but do really care about the investors. Sad to say.
J
I already sign the “fire bob cheapskate” petition but Disney has been going down hill since Kathleen Kennedy and similar like minds took over.
It’s a damn shame.
Kathy
Recently sailed on The Dream (this was our 4th cruise) in October, so we’re fairly used to Disney overpricing their merchandise especially on the ship. On the Disney island I spotted a short thin material dress, child size 6, on the rack. Was expecting $24.99 maybe even $29.99…..price tag shocked me…..$39.99! I started looking at all the merchandise….of it increased at least $10-15 of what we’ve paid in the past. It was a bit sad.
Angela
I have been a huge supporter of Disney merchandise for years. I now will not purchase the clothing. It is thin, zippers break on first use and images wash of after first use.
J
Disneyland park and dca pay below minimum wage in the parks. Seriously, make better money working at the gas station across the street.
I’m sure they cheap-out in every possible way to increase the corporate profits.
I doubt that old Walt would be a fan of the new corporation.
Damien
Disney experience is trash. We have annual passes and they oversell genie+ and lightning lane. Got in line with a 35 minute wait time and got out after 75 minutes because of that lightning lane. I literally watched 40+ people be let through on Toy Story Mania then 1-2 groups from the regular lane then back to the lightning lane for another 40+ people. Watched the scanner blink blue and they just let people through or some didn’t scan cause it was just herding cattle. That whole upcharge for Genie+/lightning lane is running the experience. I’m just going to keep going to Universal instead since I have passes to both.
beautiful gorgeous
Probable done by slave labor in China.

DEFINITELY!! We have bought the Lunar New Year shirt almost every year but did not get last year’s shirt due to cheap fabric and shoddy imprint design. Each year the shirt has gotten less and less appealing. Taking less care with product. This is only one example.
Karen
We recently ran the Walt Disney world marathon. I had completed two other previous Disney world marathons. The quantity of items was embarrassing to be honest. We arrived and there was not even one race marathon shirt in my size. The majority of items were gone so they were selling run Disney merchandise that they had put out there since all else specific to the race had been sold. They even started selling the display signs, desperate to sell something from the race. I usually spend close to 300 dollars and we didn’t buy one thing.
Candygirl
I guess people would if they can’t buy decent stuff. It is a shame. I am disappointed period with Disney. We are loosing our good Actors and actresses too. It is disgusting that Hollywood has gone to the dogs and movie stars that are American born have to go to Europe or foreign countries just to make a living, because the movie companies have lost their marbles, and get their noses into private matters they had no business doing. 😢
ChadMC

J
Wait! Check out the new line of made in “Shanghai Disney” I saw an amazing beautiful silky minnie plush at dca for the lunar newyear.
Rosenberry Rich
It’s as simple as FIRE CHAPEK! Almost ANY one of the people on this thread could run Disney better. Get rid of the entertainment networks, ABC, ESPN, etc. Disney Parks fans don’t care about the networks and higher park prices to support the networks and their employees. Go back to Walt’s dreams. Not the dollars dreams.
Lisa
Bob and everyone that is letting that man stay in charge is ruining Walt’s dream. He is ruining Disneyland

Claire Crain
Went to MK in December with family. Just wanted a cute 50th anniversary Christmas ornament. None to be found there or Downtown Disney. Very dissatisfied in the quality and quantity of the merchandise.
Melissa
I went to Disneyland for a day back in October and I also noticed damaged and poor quality merchandise as well as the same stuff that was there when I went right before covid exploded. I got myself some Haunted Mansion art in California Adventure, but other than that I left with nothing else. And that’s rare for me.
Klara Gibbs
Disney food quality went down hill with free dining. Quality of merchandise has gone down way before covid. People are just know being awaken of the fact. Look all around you as there is a huge supply chain issue and is going to get worse. Ask your grandparents and great grands what living during WW2 and the depression was like because like they say in Piarates “you are living in it. “
Idontcare
It’s because it’s made in China. Everything they make is worthless trash that breaks immediately.
G
China influence reason why quality down.

Hillary Pritchard
I don’t want spirit jerseys! I want nice art and collectibles. It’s insane. I guess the majority of people buy crappy clothes because that’s all they carry. I know there’s only so much shelf space, but to not carry things on shop disney is even worse.
MO
