I actually think that is a pretty classy jab at the “Giant”……would be difficult though with a company that has always wanted more, more and even more! Can they push themselves away from the table and declare….”We’ve had(got) enough?

  2. Joe G.

Universal had the upper hand, until they went back to forced masks on 12/24. Now we are cancelling our trip in late January. And we won’t be the only ones.

    1. Trent

Nope, youre not, add me to that list.

      1. Dillinger

My son and his family just got home from Orlando on 12/24. He says if Universal had masked back up before their trip that they would have cancelled too.

If Disney keep going the way they are. They won’t have until then! Customers vote with their wallets

          1. Jordan

If you all are literally saying no to going just because you have to wear a mask indoors then I thank you. Means I can go with my friends and have fun without worrying about people throwing a fit for something so simple and means the lines will be a little bit shorter. We’ll have fun regardless 🙂

    2. Jim

Nope. They’re off my list too. Disney was annoying, but at least they didn’t do a complete 360. Universal won’t be getting my money until they get back to normal.

      1. Gern Blanston

        Jim,

I think you meant 180. Math, science, and doing the right thing are hard.

        1. Trent

It’s easy to make mistakes on the simple things. Just ask the CDC.

    3. CJA

And I would have cancelled if they hadn’t.

      1. Tom

Well, I hope it doesn’t go that way, but, if Disney fails, it will be it’s management’s fault. They are taking advantage of their best customers who were willing to pay, what ever it cost to go when ever they want. Only to get turned away for no reservation. Oh, you didn’t read the fine print, did you,”Sucker!”. Disney needs to make it right. BTW, I’m not one that bought in the AP, but it’s just wrong. My 2 cents.

    4. A

Agree Joe G. I’m not interested in being uncomfortable on a vacation that costs as much as a Universal or Disney trip costs. I’ll continue spending my money where there are no masks.

      1. Kerstin Lampert

The mask requirements are the least of their worries….what really matters is whether the “guests” get real value for their money.
We may be at the tipping point for both.

    5. Guy

“Wahhh masky wasky hurts meeee”. If it wasn’t for people like you, this thing would all be over with by now.

      1. Fred Savagery

        BINGO!

      2. traci frost

No if it wasn’t for shills like you this would be over now.
You’ve obviously never read a history book

        1. Jordan

How’s this have anything to do with History? This is about science more than anything, something you seemed to miss since you think it’s people trying to be safe that are the problem.

      3. Trent

You don’t want it to be over, so if you really believed that you’d be thanking him or her.

    6. Paul Engelhart

Keep Bob Chapek in charge of all and it will happen

It is not as bad as it sounds. We were at Universal 25-29 Dec and we saw no real difference between then and our other 2 trips in Aug and Sept…just occasionally a team member would ask you if you had mask and then offer you one if you didn’t have one but that was only in the stores and in lines for rides..Their team members were very polite….the mask thing was silly, as long as you showed them you had one…they walked away..we were asked about masks twice in stores and we simply left without buying anything and on the rides lines we just worn them around our necks/chins and just pulled them up when asked and let them down
as soon as they looked away, which was what many/ most people were doing.
.However, our 2 very short trips to Disney Spring was a different story…it was facist or authoritarian by very rude and demanding employees with a attitude of do it their way or the highway…which I believe will be the real demise of Disney. The magic is gone, they seem to be more focused on the financial instead of family.

      1. M

Since we are just a week or two away from the Winter peak for respiratory illnesses after which things should start going back down, hopefully the masks will be gone for good again soon. It is nice to hear that they aren’t giving people a hard time about wearing them though.

      2. Jordan

So…What you are saying is, Universal was better because they let you do what you want while Disney upheld their rules? If that isn’t childish, I don’t know what is lol.

        1. Wynder

Stay sheepy, Jordan. Do as your betters tell you without questionat all times.

          1. Jordan

Says the one believing propaganda. Keep telling yourself you’re an independent thinker

  3. Brent

    Like Disney would fail !!!
    Phleeease !

    1. Nate

Well……bye. Tourists crowding the parks will not be missed. Universal will be just fine without you.

    2. Fred Savagery

      A. This is stupid
      B. Universal’s advantage is that they don’t have to cater to the 4 to 8 year old crowd.
      C. The people posting that they won’t go to any park requiring masks, thank you. Please stay home. It leaves more room and faster lines for us that can function as adults.

  4. Eliza

Lol, you ever notice that the #2 product always compared itself to the King but never the other way around.
Burger King jabs at McDonald’s. Pepsi consistently compares itself to Coke.
The fact that Universal always tries to throw shade on Disney and not the other way tells me who’s really worried about who

  5. Chris B

I was born in 1976 so if I lived to be 100 1967 would be 9 years before I die 🙂

  6. George Reynolds III

Disney’s assets are worth several billion more than Universal studios!!!! They have been around much, much, much, much longer!!!

Ok folks…. There are far better theme parks….. places like Europe have some terrific ones! (sneak a peak at Effling Park, or perhaps Fantasialand) and see how these stack up against Disney and Universal. Seriously, I am tired of it. There are so many choices out there…
Save your pennies and take a look around…. Check them out on YouTube (and while you are at it look at the themed rooms at both parks… disney could learn a thing or two about true theming).

Disney will always be there but the direction they’re going in from charging for everything but the air you breathe to the wokeness of management means the value of the Disney name will eventually degrade to be meaningless to newer generations.

    1. Tom

Disney is working on the air situations as we speak.

  11. Loui B

Not sure how masks got into the discussion, but since they have personally makes it easier for me to plan a visit. As for the actual question asked think they will both be around for a long time and we as consumers will benefit from the competition and think the fact they poke fun at each other is fun.

We visited Universal Studios and Disney World over the course of a week in early November and saw two problems with DW compared to Universal. Unlimited Express Passes are very expensive but they actually work to allow an attendee to actually skip the lines at almost every attraction. Genie+ and LL is cumbersome and inconvenient to use. DW should have gone with an all inclusive skip the line add-on. like Universal. If a customer is willing to pay extra their park day is stress free except for the other big issue: ride closures. DW has a LOT of them and it is always at the most popular rides with the longest waits. The LL at Test Track was very long after a closure due to “technical difficulties”. If the skip the line ticket allowed flexibility, a person could leave that line and visit other attractions until the LL is back to normal. DW has always had the “time limit” feature to their FP+ and now Genie+. Your LL is only good for an hour which significantly adds to the stress of the park visit if there is a closure while you are in the LL or the ride breaks down while LL customers are on it. That happened to us on ROTR. We were able to get our money back for the LL ticket but didn’t have time to actually go back and ride later. I think the comment about the age of the guests that the park caters to is true. DW has a lot of attractions for the youngest family members and not enough of the thrill ride attractions that tweens through adults like. Masks and Covid restrictions are a red herring that politically obsessed people like to complain about. The real issue for the average park guest is crowds and wait times.

    cause Disney is too “WOKE!”

  15. Maya

Bravo, Ms Turner!!! Well thought out and eloquently put 🙌👏

Unfortunately for Disney, Long time Annual Pass holders will be like me and fly by the wayside. I reluctantly say this because back in the 1980’s when I first bought a pass it was $140 for the year of visiting all 4 parks. Then my Family grew and it became $250 per person for the annual passes and in my final year of being an annual pass holder it cost me $975 per person and now I see our gold pass is over $1200 PER PERSON!! How do they expect the every day American to be able to afford to take their family for even a One Day vacation every once in a while let alone Stay in a Resort which I remember paying just $40 a night with mega perks. It has become a Rich person’s getaway place as Joe schmo will Not be able to afford to go any longer

  17. Carol

Does it matter which park survives 40 years from now? With selfish people refusing to get vaccinated and wear a mask, who will be around to go to the parks?

  18. Jeremy

Disney is very fair priced right now for all that is included, universal is over priced for sub par rides
