I and my family and friends are massive Star Wars fans and we are super excited for the resort even with the price tag. Watching the video just made me all the more excited.
There are countless 5 star hotels out there that cost a fraction of this. In order for this to be a value, I would want to know that my money was going towards something worthwhile above and beyond 5-star accomodations (of which I’ve yet to see if this hotel qualifies for). The video did nothing to reassure me of that. Quite frankly, the thing looks pretty henhouse, and the $6k+ pricetag seems borderline criminal.
Unless the production value of this thing changes, hard pass on this unless it comes down in cost by like a factor of three.
Sadly, the first few months is probably the best experience you’ll ever get for the Starcruiser hotel, once it becomes routine, just expect the cast members to phone it in. If Disney corporate phoned in the whole project, why would the cast members take any more effort than the rest of the company?
I heard $1200/nt. (which fit in with early pre-pandemic rumors of $3000 for the package), and thought $2400 didn’t seem too out of the way for a solo trip, compared to a Caribbean Beach week or Disney cruise–
Unfortunately, the “Cruise cabin” model meant I would still have been charged for TWO passengers, and $4800 was over my limit.
I want to like the Galactic Starcruiser, but am forced to say that the worst I can say about it is that it seems to be going the way of the NASCAR Experience and American Idol:
A Disney attraction everyone would LIKE to do, but the sad reality is, not a big enough percentage of paying guests CAN do. 🙁
(And WDW should be lucky they didn’t go with their original idea to make Tower of Terror a $1000/nt. “experience” hotel in 90’s dollars.)
My question is why can’t we drop the “cruise” aspect and just have a Star Wars themed hotel with a more affordable price tag. To be honest, that is what I was expecting. And do this star cruiser nonsense on an actual cruise ship? 🤷🏼♀️ I was excited that we were getting a Star Wars themed hotel but balked at the ridiculous price tag. I am a huge Star Wars fan but not excited about this hotel one bit. 😕
I am a huge Star Wars fan and would love to stay at a hotel themed as such. Unfortunately. I cannot afford that price tag. And even if I could, I can think of better ways to spend that kind of money.
Not entirely convinced you can extrapolate a couple of people on Reddit saying they’ve cancelled into “cancellations are pouring in”, but yeah this thing does not look good. Almost like merely a cash grab. Not that Disney Star Wars could ever have THAT jibe levelled at them….surely….😏
Most of the assessments of cancellations I have seen have been based on availability opening up. A few weeks ago there was nothing through June – now I see about 8-10 openings (it changes regularly as new people reserve the open spots). Not sure I would say they are pouring in but some folks are cancelling – maybe cause of marketing or maybe just cause the final payments are approaching…interesting either way.
I don’t see Original trilogy fans like me being turned on by this at all. I have no interest… it is clear to me that disney star wars wants to distance itself from the past. Why alienate that audience? Why not cater to old and new fans. I’m disappointed in the job disney has done with star wars.
I wouldn’t have been willing to pay $6 grand for a 2 night stay in ANY hotel ever and simply hanging up video screens around the rooms and other areas does t make it any more immersive than putting up 6 bid screen tv’s around in your living room would and it definitely wouldn’t make it seem in any shape, form or fashion “REALISTIC” so once seeing the “C” grade level video of the experience is in no way going to induce feelings in most if not all of the people who were actually considering dropping that kind of money on this “bait & switch” scam would induce reconsidering the entire thing and cancel their reservations before Disney would refuse to refund their full deposit (which should have been a major red flag to begin with) as they only posted the preview video days before a good number of deposit refunds would have been partially reduced inside the 90 days window from their scheduled visit and 45 days in would be complete forfeiture of the entire deposit so with all this in mind anyone in their right mind would start canceling immediately, lose part or all of the deposit or worse still proceed with the “SCAMTASTIC VISIT” and lose the whole enchilada!! Disney World has become a perversion of anything close to what had Walt envisioned!!! What was once a family destination for all things happy and fun has become nothing more than”SCAMTASTIC DISASTER” thanks to the money-whores who have taken over this once !!!beloved company
Seems pretty rational to me, not to pay 6k for “2 nights and 2 days” (which aren’t actually 48 hours mind you) If I would have that kind of many burning a hole in my pocket, I would definitely spend it on something else more fulfilling, like going on a cruise with my wife.
Exactly! In fact, their costs to run the hotel are much less than the costs of a real cruise. They don’t have to coordinate supplies, no fuel, and they pretty much have entertainment just like a real ocean cruise. So why the extremely high price of the “cruise”.
People, you can go to Bali and stay on the water in a nice bungalow for that price. Or charter a yacht with a personal chef and bring some family and friends for a few days. I’m just getting Fyre Festival vibes from this Disney hotel 🤣
We were super excited to go however we just found out that we cannot wear masks fully dressed up as our favorite Star Wars characters… My husband spent a lot of time and money building his costume and now he can’t wear his mask or his helmet he’s really upset about it!!!😭
He called Disney about a week ago and they told him nope… obviously we’re still going to go but this really it did upset my Star Wars loving husband 😔
While I agree that so far the sneak peek videos have been underwhelming, newly opened dates doesn’t mean that cancellations are “pouring in”
One guest cancels, the date is now open on the calendar. It’s that simple. Time will tell how things go!

It is beyond a 5 star. It’s a death star. Lol. Definitely too rich for my salary.

Oh I can totally afford it and definitely would not “like to do it”

I canceled cause of the mask mandate. This is an entirely indoor event for 2.5 days. I don’t want to pay $6k and have to wear a mask.
Ahu
It’s not even a full 48 hours. Take a look at when you arrive and when you need to check out.

For $6,000 bucks, I rather go on a week cruise than 2 day hotel visit no matter the theme. Geezzz!!

Do they at least give you costumes since this is supposed to be an immersive activity?
Katherine Akin
No. Costumes are for sale at the hotel. Don’t know the prices, but I’m sure they aren’t inexpensive.
Ryan

Adults have never been allowed to wear full costumes in any of the parks and masks have always been a definate no, even during the NSS party.
I’m certainly not shocked they kept the no mask rule.
