I agree with many points on this. When it comes to source material, you shouldnt make drastic changes without valid reasons. Comic book fanbases are some of the pickiest, and changing race and religion of certain characters without providing context as to why will only leave you open to more criticism.

And side note: i wouldn’t call eternals successful since the movie sadly didnt make up the money to even cover its budget.

They aren’t making changes to the characters… Fans are upset because the actors aren’t the exact nationality or practice the exact same religion as the character they are playing. That is completely ridiculous. That’s why it’s called acting. You are always playing someone you aren’t in real life.

Totally agree…but people are going to complain about everything today…but not the right thing. There can be subtle differences in characterisation but bringing religion into a decision for a movie is bad business

Nakia’s religion is an essential part of her character and to cast someone who is half white and Christian is an insult to her character. To have her wear a hijab when she doesn’t even practice the religion is very disrespectful. Things that have serious cultural and religious meanings should never be used as props. Islam is the third most common religion in the US, after Christianity and Judaism. I refuse to believe that it was impossible for them to find a Muslim actress. As for Kamala’s powers, the change is also unnecessary and takes away huge plot points in the comics, the biggest one being her shape shifting as Carol.

No it’s not disrespectful. It’s called ACTING. The whole point of acting is to become different characters. Rarely is and actor playing themselves unless it’s biographical. Fir example Scarlett Johansson. Isn’t Russian. Tom Holland easnt bitten by a radioactive spider nor is he from Queens. Neil Patrick Harris frequently plays straight characters. It’s all mane believe. The respects comes in to HOW the character is portrayed, not a much as. WHO plays it.

They actually are making changes to the character. Instead of having an awakened power that lets her grow, stretch, and change form (a major point when she started and why she adopted the name), she now has a magic amulet that allows her to use powers. Weird, considering there is already a new Arab-American hero called Amulet. He is also in high school AND his amulet is an heirloom from his grandmother too.
So instead of a faithful Ms. Marvel, we have her name and look, but a different Arab character’s powers.

Here’s a great idea, let’s make a Spiderman movie, but instead of webslinging he can fly and shoot custard out of his eyes.
    Wtf?
    Exactly.

The Hawkeye bit is so unneeded and untrue at the end. Wrong words.

As far as who Hawkeye that kills… If I remember correctly in the movie he’s killing members of the Yakuza a Japanese international crime syndicate who does not allow white guys to join their syndicate. And in the TV show he kills people and Echo’s family’s gang. I hate to break two people but I hate to break it to people but most real criminal organizations above street level and a lot of street level for that matter really interracial or sexually equal minded…

Marvel fans are the worst for complaining about comic stuff, I thought dc folks were bad but Damn.

Those who make the final decisions on marvel and star wars characters and storylines have been doing a really terrible job. Should have a contest for new star wars trilogy and marvel feature, hardcore fanbase can comeup with a storyline, character builds etc for next movie, winner chosen receives credit and a nice check for work chosen.

Has anyone consider they may have changed her powers because budget constraints and how the powers looked on screen? Beside isn’t it more important to get the core character right instead of every little detail?
