If you’re making plans to visit Walt Disney World Resort this month and planning a day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, you’ll want to take note that the popular ride, Kali River Rapids is still undergoing refurbishment. While we previously announced the attraction would reopen on December 16, 2021… it looks like Disney is sending some mixed signals!

Kali River Rapids is a popular water ride located in the Asia portion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney describes that experience as a chance to “Raft Down a Rip-Roaring River”… and yes, you should expect to get wet (or possibly soaked!). The attraction closed for refurbishment at the start of November 2021.
Interestingly enough, Disney is sending some mixed signals on the attraction’s refurbishment status. Currently, the Walt Disney World website states, “Kali River Rapids is closed for refurbishment through the end of December 2021.” The attraction does have operating hours listed however beginning December 16, 2021, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm as shown in the screenshot below:

So, yes, we’d assume this means Kali River Rapids will reopen on December 16, right? Well, the mixed signals arrive as Disney updated the refurbishment calendar to show the attraction in refurbishment status through January 3, 2022, with the attraction opening to Guests beginning January 4, 2022. But WAIT… there’s more!

Literally, as we were writing this article, Disney has once again updated the refurbishment calendar, removing the Kali River Rapids extended refurbishment. Now, the refurb calendar coincides with the Kali River Rapids webpage showing that YES… Kali River Rapid will reopen on December 16!
