The latest chapter in the Ghostbusters universe hit theaters a couple of weeks ago and has since grossed more than $100 million at the box office.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) is the fourth installment in the franchise and is the third to bring the original cast back together, as well as introduce many new characters.

In an interview with Collider, director Jason Reitman shared what he’d want to see in a potential Ghostbusters Theme Park ride.

“The chase sequence in Ghostbusters: Afterlife with Phoebe hanging out the side of Ecto-1, flying around the corners trying to catch Muncher. That is something I want to live. I made it because I’m trying to relive fantasies of riding in the Delorian or riding on speeder bikes in Endor in Return of the Jedi.

There’s a great ride at Universal Orlando. It’s a Hogwarts ride where you’re on Hagrid’s Motorbike with the sidecar and if we could do something like that with Ecto-1, I’d be so down.”

Anyone who has ridden Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal’s Islands of Adventure comes back blown away by the attention to detail and state-of-the-art technology in which the attraction was built.

While Reitman loves what he sees at Universal, if there were to ever be a Ghostbusters ride, it would most likely be built at Walt Disney World or Disneyland.

Disney has a working agreement in place with Sony Pictures for content sharing and while anything is possible, it would be fairly difficult for Universal to gain rights to use Ghostbusters in an attraction. Of course, it should be noted that just a couple of years ago– prior to the agreement– that Universal Orlando had a haunted house based on Ghostbusters at its 2019 Halloween Horror Nights.

Still, can you imagine how much fun it would be to ride an attraction based on the beloved franchise?

Here’s the official synopsis for Ghostbusters: Afterlife according to Sony Pictures.

“From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Jason Reitman & Gil Kenan.”
