Yes! Same ride but in Disneyland. September 2021, hour and a half wait.

    1. Jen

Same. But my wait was 90 mins into the line when it broke down and I left the line cause my son had to use the bathroom. Then we had to argue with the ride attendants who said we had to wait in the line all over again. My husband was ready to punch this guy in the mouth he was so rude. The last time I was at Disney 8yrs ago was nothing like this. The employees have definitely lost their “magic”

      1. John

Wow. Never go on vacation again. You’re the problem with society and the worst part is you spawned one out.

        1. Tim

They all are missingthe point last I check there was a pandemic going on great people keep it up and the next varient will diffinitely get all of us

      2. Uhm.

Uhm, sorry, you can’t hold your place in line, that’s not how lines work. If you leave you’re gone, gotta go to the back of the line.

        1. Well, the kid is not allowed to pee while in the queue and Disney builds attractions that require long lines to form, but they do not have bathrooms in the line, so what do you recommend to ensure a family does not piss away hours in a line.?

          1. James Holt

I can’t imagine paying what theywant these daysto stand in line most of your day not to ride something, let alone paymore money for a lightning pass. Sucker born every minute lol.

      3. VDog

Yeah Karen, I’m sure you and your meathead “tough-guy” husband were ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL to the cast members. Please, please just find another place to show your entitlement, thank you.

      4. George

What would this guy have had the CM do? The ride is broken down. The CM cant magicaly allow someone onto a broken ride. They did what they are authorized to do. Go to guest relations and see what they can do next time. Sheesh!

      5. P

Well, five days before this unfortunate incident in the article, on this SAME ride. I witnessed the guys behind me in line needing to use the bathroom while in a 3 hour line. They just asked a cast member and, one at a time, both were diligently and corteously escorted backstage to the restrooms and back to where their place in line has moved to. Next time anyone in your family needs something basic, just ask nicely, you will be amazed what good manners and common sense will get you in life… but since your family thinks violence can solve anything, then stay at home and don’t have any more children.

        1. A good mouse

I was in this line at Disneyland and I don’t think I saw a single cast member once we got to the indoor part of the queue, which was about an hour of the hour and a half wait (we had some longer stretches of stopping). So it’s not like they were necessarily in an easy position to ask.

      6. Mousetrap

Why not just ask the people next to you line to hold your spot? I’m smelling BS on this one.

  2. Backcountry164

I don’t even feel a little sorry for these people. If you want to throw your money at a greedy mega corporation this is really what you should expect. They don’t care about you, just your wallet…

  3. Terry

How could Disney have “handled this much better”? YOU chose to wait the 200 minutes and when the ride broke down they offered you immediate return thru the LL. What was you expecting?

    1. Gary E. Witt

I do feel sorry for these people but not for what most people would think. Why would anyone wait 4 hours of their life for a ride? Life is too precious to wait that long for a thrill of a few minutes. They will never get those 4 hours back. Someday they may wish that they could spend four more hours with someone they love dearly.

      1. Tim

Customer service at Disney is a thing of the past unfortunately. A free LL pass ar 730 pm after waiting nearly 4 hours? Big deal. The park is closing soon, they should have been given a front of the line pass for the same ride any time for their remaining trip. It’s not that hard Disney.

        1. Babz

That’s what they were given: a pass to come back to the ride (in a shorter line) once the ride was running again. I would assume that that meant that evening or the next day or any day (as long as they had the tickets to get into the park).

        2. Pat C

What is wrong with you people. These people paid good money to enter the park and wanted to ride their favourite ride, what is wrong with that. As for the poor woman whose child needed the bathroom why couldn’t they have held her place. It’s not just children who may need the bathroom in a long queue. Who ever John is who comments on these posts should learn to have some humanity

      2. Marie

Because for some families, they have saved for a few years for the trip and it will be a once in a lifetime trip for them.

    2. Chiz Dippler

If you don’t know the difference between “the news” and a blog, you have bigger issues to deal with.

      1. Backcountry164

ROTFLMAO!! There is no difference anymore!! The MSM realized YEARS AGO that they can’t compete without stooping to the same level.

    3. Dave

I agree with you, Terry. Some people use social media to display their notion of entitlement. This twit decided to wait in line KNOWING it would last over three hours. Everyone at WDW knows the wait times are posted to ward people away from the line. He willfully ignored that and lost his time. The park gave him what he should have done earlier…a lightning pass. The only thing I would add is the baby should have not waited until 3pm to get in such a long line.

  4. Because of Disney’s lack of ride maintenance, I purchased the park hopper tickets. It lowers the stress and allows you to return. If I waited 4 hours and was told “sorry”, I would be mad too. 4 hours that individual or family will not get back. Some people eat a meal in line for Rise. I refuse to pay for lightning lane/fast pass.

  5. Sue

Don’t feel sorry for anyone who would wait 2 plus hours for a ride. I wouldn’t wait 10 mins. It’s Disney get over it. Or don’t go. . Can’t feel sorry for you it was your choice .

    1. Josh

A ride broken down is a catastrophe?

      1. Vanessa Hempton

Please share how this is a catastrophe. No one died, or was shot…no one lost a home, etc.

Might want to look up the definition

    2. Chiz Dippler

      You seem pleasant.

  6. Sally

There is no way I would even pay to ride anything in Disney I am a Florida resident annual passhold I pay enough money and there is no way I would wait 4 hrs to go on any ride.

    1. Greg

You do realize that as an Annual Passholder you have already paid to ride, right?

      1. Diesel

Disney Annual pass holder has paid to gain access or entry to the park. A Universal Pass holder pays to ride fast pass after 4 with the premium pass. Disney annual passes are garbage and not worth the money. Hardly any good perks anymore. Disney is all about greed these days.

    2. Guy

I too live in Florida and haven’t been to Disney for almost 12 years. I see people driving insanely to make it to the parks to be first in line. Complaining about everything. The greed that Disney represents is amazing to say the least. I always refer to Mickey as a cute mouse when your 6 years old. However when you become an adult you realize he’s nothing more than a 6 foot greedy rat!
People spend more money to make memories of their holiday vacation only to come home needing another vacation from their week in hell. Long lines, ridiculous prices, rude people. All while searching for the memories they tried to capture at “The Happiest Place on Earth” moment.
These stories of the vacations in hell have been posted online since the internet was invented and yet people believe it’ll never happen to them. Or maybe read the negative stories and think they’re exaggerated?
If someone is planning a trip in 2022, read the stories, research the negative stories and believe how this park could give a rats a$$ about people and just care of the cash your carrying.
The magic dies with Walt. As soon as his box closed and the family lost control of the dream the plans of a gold mine were born in CEO’s, BOD’s and share holders.
Cherish the moments with loved ones on a vacation that doesn’t require a second mortgage and a high blood pressure medication when you get home.

    3. a good mouse

Not everyone is in driving distance of the parks or can afford an annual pass. This might have been their only trip for the next 10 years, I don’t blame them for really wanting to see the ride. Especially if they are big Star Wars fans. I think the mental calculations of what’s worth a wait and what isn’t is really different for people who have the privilege to go often. (Often can even mean once a year or every other year, compared to most people.)

      1. Jk

Devastated at the catastrophe of not being able to ride their favorite ride. Let that sink in. This isn’t a once in a lifetime trip with their dying child. This is their favorite. So they have been on it before as well as all the other rides. Give me a break. You chose to waste 4 hours of your park time on a ride that has semi-frequent break downs. Too bad, so sad. Went to WDW two years ago when they were doing the virtual sign in for this one. Got in at rope drop, tried to get in the line, no luck. Still haven’t ridden it. We have all survived the devastation.

  7. Don’t have to imagine it. Exact same thing happened to me my December 1 visit. Waited 3.5 hours, ride broke down, given a LL pass to come back later, and later when the ride was working waited another half hour only for it to break down again.

  8. Amy Kaneff Rudolph

We were there 2 weeks ago , ride brike while we were with strom trooper, were there for over an hour. My daughter was worried about me since I’m claustrophobic and have mobility issues the staff was very concerned got me water offered not necessary medical assistance and exit with lightening pass we paid for already. It was added fun forc30 minutes after that just annoying.

  9. James

And this is why you should never go to Disney at the holidays.

Highest crowds, highest price, highest frustrations.

  10. Geese

And 2 weeks into January all the parks will be empty and most rides will have a 5 or 10 minute wait time.

    1. Diesel

What blows my mind is the amount of ppl that complain about long lines when they go during xmas or New Years, 😆

      1. Backcountry164

Yeah, isn’t it amazing how people take vacations during the time they have off from work… /sarc

    2. Local student

      shhhh!!! Don’t let them know

  11. Kiitie

The preview of the ride for employees even broke down. It’s an amazing ride ( I managed to get on it) but they really needed to test it more before unveiling it.

    1. Doug

I agree with most of the comments… it’s your choice how you want to spend your time. 4 hours is obscene, and Disney CMs did what’s right: offered a LL to return. If this was the final 4 hours of your disney trip, that’s rough. I wouldn’t have waited to ride the the attraction with the highest demand as the finale. Most people know (common sense) you try and do these attractions early in the AM or during parades/fireworks. Attractions shut down all the time! It can be for a number of reasons, not just because it wasn’t tested enough.

When I was a CM at Big Thunder in DL, if the ride shut down it would take 1+ hours to reopen (evacuation, reset, etc.). Once we shut down for 3 hours because a woman swore she lost a $5k diamond tennis bracelet and demanded we search for it. Another time the ride was stopped because some kids (18-25) tossed napkins all over the ride like confetti and it flagged a sensor thinking a person was out in the ride path. That took a few hours to fix since now we had to clean up napkins. The staff doesn’t tell the guests every detail. “The goat got loose,” or “Kyle Ren has seized all vessels.”

      Anyway, I’m done. lol

But yeah, that’s 4 hours you choose to spend in line before you even got in line. Go enjoy your LL.

      1. Doug

        *Kylo, damn auto correct.

  12. Lari Ash

We went to Disneyland in CA on Thanksgiving day 2021. We literally had 6 rides break down and close right before it was our turn! Try explaining that to a child. I paid almost $700.00 for tickets and parking. Never again…

    1. Diesel

Never go during the Holidays. Literally the worst time to go. Go towards the end of september before October. Week before last during the week. Less stress and you don’t feel ripped off.

    2. a good mouse

Was this comment really necessary? Of course it would be confusing to a child to wait in line patiently six times and not get to ride a ride while at Disneyland. I don’t understand why people come to a site about Disney just to spew hate in the comments. Welcome to the internet I guess, I hope that made your day somehow since I doubt you have family and friends super eager to talk to you offline.

      1. VDog

You DO REALIZE some of these people, including yourself are coming on here to “spew hate” about Disneyland and it’s cast members for doing their job, right?? But I’m sure you’re perfectly ok with THAT! Respect is a two way street. These workers don’t deserve the poison that some of you Karens bring to the park.

  13. Myrna

I paid $60 (@$15 ea) on Thursday, 12/23 for the Disney Genie Plus lightning lane passes at Epcot for not to use them because every time I looked on the app for Test Track and Frozen LL was not available. It’s not like they refund you if you don’t use it. I thought by purchasing one day passes six months in advance and making a reservation that Disney was able to control the amount of people entering the park. But they are not. It’s over crowded, lines are outrageously long and the fast food mobile ordering was a long wait also. We’ve been going to Disney for over 30 years. But this recent trip to the Magic Kingdom on 12/21 and Epcot on 12/23 was not Magical. It just seemed like an unorganized amusement park but was not amusing.

    1. Lawrence Lewis

I was there first week of Dec. The LL for Frozen was out of control. It seemed they just let people in at will while the stand by line barely moved even though the wait time said 40 mins.

    2. VDog

You mean, you went to Disney during LITERALLY the busiest 5 days of the year and weee then shocked that the parks were packed!?? I mean, cmon right??? Seriously? I feel like you choose to go the week of Christmas, you should definitely already know that you’re going to be one of EVERYBODY ELSE who thought that was a good idea.

  14. Matt

Feeling the magic yet? lol When will people learn that if you really want to have fun and not be disappointed it probably will not cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, often times it is free.

  15. That’s nothing new. People act like that new and that don’t happen. it happens all the time

  16. Mike

First World problems… Oh the horrors…

    1. Freddy K

“First World problems” – one of the most overused phrases the last 6 months (at least).

Mike, out of curiosity, how many times have you used it in the last 30 days?

      1. Backcountry164

Why do you care?? Does it offend you somehow?? Because it sounds a lot like a first world problem. Maybe that’s why you’re offended, because you constantly get accused of it after complaining about stuff like this…

  17. Paul W

I was there this past October and the ride broke down on us twice. The first time after about 45 minutes in line, the second time we went through the fast line and it broke down right as we were next. We got 2 free lightning passes they said we could use on any ride. We did come back later that eve and finally got to ride it, and used the other for Space Mountain. I actually thought that was a pretty good deal considering.

  18. Kylie

Wait…you were shocked to wait 4 hours for thr singles popular ride during WDW’s busiest season?
And this blogger is calling it a devastating catastrophe?!

I mean…it’s cool that yoir life has been so pleasant that this seems like a catastrophe to you, but it’s really not.
No one was injured or killed. It’s called disappointment. Life is full of it. It’s okay!

  19. Carrie

“Catastrophe”? Seriously….? Horrible choice of word for something as inconsequential as a ride breaking down where no one was harmed

  20. Chris Kinney

Even though the ride is 18 minutes long, I still agree with you.

  21. Janice

    That’s not what a catastrophe is…

  22. Bryan

My wife and I were there for our honeymoon. When it finally opened up again there was a three hour wait. We stood in line for about 45 mins and barely moved. We decided to get out of the line, about 30 mins later we checked the Genie + and saw that it broke down AGAIN. We saw so many ppl in the lighting lane that it was backed up to the front also.

  23. Tangerine

You’re all idiots waiting that long for a stupid ride I’m glad it broke down you wasted your money you fools

  24. daddybongz

Was just there Dec 20. Fell in line at 245pm when the app said there was a 120min wait. Got inside the shuttle after about 75 min. As we exitted the shuttle, the ride broke down and we were asked to wait outside the prison cells for about 15-20min. The app said at that time that the ride was down. Good thing they eventually got everything to work. It took us about 120min from the time we first went in line to the time the reached the end of the ride. It was so worth it!

  25. Ari

That happened to me at California Adventures, it was our first time riding Racers. We were disappointed but since we had annual passes, we went back the next day. Since it happened right before the park closed, nobody was offered passes for a later time. People were not happy!

  26. Joe P

We were at Disney Worlad last week as well but had a similar experience with a better ending. We got in line when the queue said 190 minutes. After 40 minutes the ride broke down and we were told we could wait or exit the line. We waited for about 30 minutes and it started again. In that time though at least 50% of the line left and we only ended up waiting a total of 90 minutes. The ride (Rise of the Resistance) was absolutely incredible.

Now, the day before at magic kingdom Splash Mountain broke down after a two hour wait WHILE WE WERE ON IT! We had to be evacuated. They gave us a lightning lane for it but because of the reservation system in place we couldn’t get back into the park a different day to go on.

    1. Lawrence Lewis

We were there first week of Dec and Splash Mountain broke down on use too. So did Tower of Terror and Rock in Roll Roller, but we got lucky, they came back up while were were still in the area. Thirty minute wait for each.

  27. Lawrence Lewis

NEVER go to Disney during holidays. It was a mad house when I was a kid (I’m 60 now) and it hasn’t changed. I was just there right after Thanksgiving a normally quiet time, but not this year. Lucky for us wait time were still just under an hour except the Jungle Cruse which was 2 hours, we passed on that.

  28. VDog

I tried the virtual queue on 3 occasions when the land opened in Disneyland almost 2 years ago, only to be heartbroken. Then, last month when stand by FINALLY opened , we went to get in a 100 minute line, and the ride broke down, making it more like 2 1/2 hours. I would have obviously been bummed if it hadn’t re-opened, but it’s the chance you take, and as an adult, you KNOW that’s the chance you take. Almost two years of waiting, and I dont regret it. Make informed, adult decisions, and you won’t feel like “life is over” and that this is a “CATASTROPHE” when things don’t go as planned lol.

    1. a good mouse

*trying to explain to a LITERAL CHILD.

    2. VDog

Funny enough, I guess heartbroken still let me live my life to the fullest for the last 2 years. And made me appreciate the ride THAT MUCH MORE when I finally had the PRIVELEDE (not lawful right) to experience it. You know why??? Because MOM brought me up to realize that life is full of unexpected little disappointment s. Life goes on. This woman, and apparently yourself seem to believe that the cast members and the world will owe you their blood because the freakin rides break down!! Un-believable!

      1. VDog

If this mom doesn’t teach her kid that these things happen, and life can still be OK, I’m scared for the child. Have a good day.

  29. John DeJones

Di$ney needs to add another gate to help disperse the crowds at peak times. Uni is already planning another gate. In fact Uni is becoming a better value park.

  30. Chris B

And im assuming you’re white so why talk bad about your skin color.

  31. Tom

Waiting for a ride at Disney is always a gamble. This story is not unique and repeats every day. One hour is my limit. Too many other things to do there.

    1. Shannon Engels

At this point, Uni is much better!

      1. Ali K.

Shannon E. – 100%! I have/had been a diehard Disney fanatic since I was in the womb! Our families “secret” is the not so secret fact that Disney is in our blood. Over the past 10-years is when I started noticing the small changes, which eventually got bigger and bigger. My husband, daughter and I purchased UOAP’s in 2011 and it has been the best money we’ve ever spent! The Passholder perks, the huge resort and CityWalk discounts, the more laid back vibe of the Parks, etc. have been a game changer for us. And Christmas is our favorite season to visit. We were there 3 weeks ago and took our 10-year old niece with us for her very first visit and it could not have gone better. We actually “broke down” about midway through The Simpsons, but we stayed in place and went again with no glitches. Then there were TM’s waiting outside each ride station and we were given an Express Pass for any ride in the Park, which worked out GREAT as we were able to use it on Gringott’s which had the longest wait time for both Parks at just around 90-minutes. And after seeing my niece’s “1st Visit” button and how much she loved riding Hagrid’s, a TM pulled us aside as we were exiting the ride and asked if we wanted to go again…in the very front! I absolutely plan on heading back to Disney one day, but for now, we are gonna stick with the awesomeness at Universal! 😊

  32. Bob

    catastrophe

1 : a momentous tragic event ranging from extreme misfortune to utter overthrow or ruin Deforestation and erosion can lead to an ecological catastrophe. 2 : utter failure : fiasco the party was a catastrophe. 3a : a violent and sudden change in a feature of the earth.

  33. Rod

Hmmm. I missed the title’s !CATASTROPHE! part.

I am a Disney lover, but bloodshed? No.
    Maiming? No.
Long term (or short) psych damage? No.
Loss of income, reputation, or livelihood? No. No. No.
Let’s dial back the hyperbole and unrighteous indignation because people stood in line for a really large, very cool carnival ride.
    Perspectives, folks.

  34. Shannon Engels

Same thing happened on Friday 12/24. 215-300 minute wait, then shut down for mechanical errors. Waste of time and money.

  35. Giv

How is this a “catastrophe “? It’s definitely unfortunate that this happened, but it’s not a catastrophe. No one was hurt except maybe someone’s feelings. My wife and I have waited in lines before and had many rides breakdown while waiting. Does it suck? Yep. Is it the end of world? Nope. Get over it. Be grateful that you are able to go the happiest place on earth. I’m sure some of you don’t feel that way because you’re nothing but entitled, miserable people.

  36. Van Hammersley

Devastated!? Ugh, this is just so pathetic. This family knew the wait would be hours long. They knew they were at the park at a VERY busy time. They knew they were trying to get on an extremely popular ride. Yet – they made the choice, knowing all this, and with a child in tow – and it turned out to be a bad one. No one’s fault but their own. Entitled BS to blame the park or the staff. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

  37. Gary

Happened to me almost identical (except I had purchased LL pass … no way would I wait 4 hours). The workers at the ride can only give same day lightning lanes. I went to guest services and they switched out the all day lightning lane pass to another day that I was going to be in the park.

  38. princeofprussia

A “catastrophe” is multiple people being crushed to death in a ride malfunction. Not getting to ride that day because the ride went down? That’s not a “catastrophe,” that’s just disappointment. Welcome to life.

  39. binki

Never stand in a line that long for any reason. No ride is worth it.

  40. John

    200 minutes = 4 hours?

  41. Dale

Pleas use some math skills. 200 minutes 3hrs and 20 minutes. Not 4 hours. Not as sensational I know but come on.

  42. Rick

Radiator Springs Racers. We were in line for about an hour and were next to get on when a kid got off the ride in the wrong direction and then decided to jump on to the track instead of crossing back through the ride vehicle. The incredibly diligent CM hit the e-stop and while yes, we had to wait another 45 minutes for the attraction to cycle through, but we decided to patiently wait instead of being jerks about it.

  43. Ro

Catastrophe?? Hardly. Unfortunate, sure. Disappointing, absolutely. But this is not catastrophic.

  44. Red

You need a refresher course on what the word catastrophe means.

  45. Priscilla

This happened to me at Universal when the first opened Escape From Gringotts. We didn’t even get to ride it! Next time we went we waited two and half more hours to finally ride it. It broke down for another thirty minutes as we were the next to get on.

  46. Jeff

Again, nothing is guaranteed in life. Got to understand that certain issues are our of one’s hand man vs machine.

  47. erich

That’s what u get for giving your money to this woke, anti-white commie company

  48. Bill

Stand in line for hours and maybe you get to ride? Pay for express fast entry? Phone app to order food?

Sounds like the magic went out of this place a long time ago. Parents dragging kids around to give them this experience? Sad commentary on societal value of this culture.

And look at that photo. Many people crowded together, covid and micron part of the risk, nevermind a ride might stop working. And many all packed in, not wearing masks?

Hope not too many got exposed and perhaps become carriers or get sick/die!

  49. Kevin

The horror! If only they could time those breakages to be more convenient!

  50. Chris T

I was there on the 23rd. We wanted to do ROTR but the lines were insane- even 15 minutes in to the “open early hour” as ROTR started broken!

This will be my last trip to Disney. Hollywood StudioPark is over sold, food terrible and expensive, new genie + useless, rides broke down (not just ROTR), The Smugglers run ride was fine and i like how they made it interactive but it needs higher resolution graphics to feel less like a video game. Even with genie plus we were only able to get in 5 rides in 6 hours. Frankly there just aren’t enough rides at Hollywood Studios especially given all the technical breakdowns

We went to universal the next day (with hotel fast pass) and experience was night and day. Did 14 rides in 7 hours. Went on the magical new Hagrid ride 3 times. A top 5 ride for me lifetime. Overall quality of immersive experience far better than Disney for the Harry Potter stuff than the Star Wars stuff. And if kids are older than 8 i would always chose universal.

  51. Nicki

Yes – on this ride (Rise of the Resistance) back in September I made it to the Storm trooper room to be told it was down. We were escorted out given a “fast pass” back in September. I returned with my pass and once again made it to the same point to receive the same thing again, ride was down. Once again given a fast pass only to be told a 3rd time at the same spot the ride was down. I had tickets that night for Mickeys not so scary so wasn’t able to actually ride until later in my trip.

  52. Debbie

How is this a catastrophe? Poor choice of words … jist to get people to read. I was expecting to read that the ride had an explosion, major accident, or someone died on it. SMH.

  53. Marty

    Catastrophe? Really? … Dramatic much?

“Catastrophe?” Did anyone die? Did the ride fall apart and injure a chid? Was there a fire?
This was frustrating and disappointing for those waiting in line, but this was no catastrophe. By using hyperbole to describe an inconvenience, the writer belittles anyone suffering a real catastrophes—bombings, earthquakes, fires, etc.

  55. Andrea

Please choose your words carefully. Not knowing what the author or the attendee’s life POV… this is not a catastrophe. This sucks, yes. But…people have lost loved ones in tornadoes, concerts and to covid. These are catastrophes, horrible incidents. Boats that have capsized of people trying to evacuate their war-torn country…catastrophe. Getting news of cancer. Devastating with a long road ahead. Waiting for 4 hours in a Disney line. Not a catastrophe. While it sucks, you have lived another day. As a parent, I am sure that sucks after all that planning, and it is expensive. Breathe.

Seriously? A catastrophe? Maybe if you’re an entitled narcissist whose named Karen….. otherwise your a grownup doing childish things……

Unrelated to all of this: July 17 is my birthday. July 17 1975 was Grand Opening Day. I received an invitation to attend as a guest, along with Art Linkletter and others. My father had a real estate office on Main Street, and was the one who requested the invitation. It was quite an event!!!! I visited for years, but have not been back in quite a while. I now live in Washington. Also now 87 years old!!!

  58. Steve

Unless a stormtrooper shot a guest, this is not a “catastrophe”. First world problems.

  59. C

So the big “catastrophe” is that people get to wait a long time in line for a ride that broke down? Wow that is important huh

  60. Tia D

This is not a “catastrophe.” It was probably a serious pain in the butt and a huge time suck and it stinks that it ruined most of their day. Not a catastrophe though.

  61. ann

All these people would have got on if they had the old fast pass system!!!

  62. Ken Brenner

As a long-time WDW visitor, I’ve NEVER waited more than 60-70 minutes for a ride (Soarin in 2010).
I honestly cannot understand why anyone would wait more than 2 hours for any ride!!
(I typically don’t get in line if the estimated wait is more than 1 hour). But 4 hours!
I also never go at Thanksgiving nor Christmas – a well-know max busy time in the parks.
Hard to figure this type of thinking…

  63. Vic

I had that happen to me Gere at Disneyland. Rise went down getting in the lightning lane. My understanding it breaks down a lot. Unfortunately it happens. It sucks, what can you do.

  64. Lisa

Thankfully no breakdowns for us. Rise of Resistance is absolutely most amazing ride and immersive experience. We opted for a lightning lane purchase only for it. 100% worth it!

    1. Manny

@Lisa you are part of the problem.

  65. Darth Krayt

Imagine your biggest issue in life right now is not being able to get on a theme park ride. Must be nice.

  66. Mitchell IVEY

Three times over tried to ride, three times broken. Can’t be the greatest ride ever with sketchy dependability.

  67. We were just at WDW …The new rides are down every afternoon…ROTR, Mickeys Runaway Train and Ratatouille. I was told by Cast Members that they are run on WiFi and that is the problem. It takes 30 minutes to reboot after they find the problem. We walked out of ROTR in the middle when it stopped. Came back thru LL again when it was rebooted about 2 hrs later. Navi River broke down while in line. We waited an extra 45 minutes to ride and while on the Ride, the talking Avatar went limp …We waited an extra 60 minutes in line for Ratatouille after it broke down. We made it through Mickeys Runaway Train but it broke down afterwards. Disney needs to come up with a better plan to operate the new rides…Obviously the daily breakdowns is not going to work in the long scheme of things!

  68. Tara McKnight

How fortunate these guests are … to think that a long wait for a ride is a “catastrophe”- which is actually defined as “an event that causes great and often sudden damage or suffering; a disaster”.

  70. Tracy

‘Devastated’? ‘Catastrophe’? I think we need to relearn the definition of these words. These are first world problems that are certainly not a ‘catastrophe’. Good grief.

  71. MartinVanUrine

I just read about Disney’s new pixie dust pass. It’s $35 a day and you get a necklace to wear that lets the cast members know not to yell at you.

  72. Sam Rimy

I had a catastrophe there myself several years ago. The Astro Orbiter took a hard turn and 3 of my Peanut M&Ms flew out. I went to guest services and demanded two “quickie passes” which were what they were called at the time.

  73. Scot

Say what? This was not a devastating catastrophe. It was a mere inconvenience. Get over it

  74. Dave

    Might wanna look up “catastrophe”

  75. Tim

I was in line with my sisters when they decided it would be best to close the ride. Instead of letting us stay in the big air-conditioned room with the stormtroopers, they pushed everyone into the cramped hall way before we boarded the ride vehicles where we stayed for about an additional hour. It was very hot and very uncomfortable. We waited long enough that the people behind us even got ahold of guest relations on their phone line. I understand that a ride this technically advanced is prone to problems, but keeping people trapped in a single un-air-conditioned space for a long period of time while the ride is down is something that Disney shouldn’t be doing.

  76. Tom Blanks

Yes, disappointing, aggravating, sucks, and kids going crazy. My biggest issue with this is “catastrophe”? That’s like you’re “starving to death” in a resort.

  77. Paul

You are clearly spending too much time in Fantasyland if a broken theme park ride qualifies as a catastrophe.

  78. Sue

Anyone who waits for a ride longer then 10 mins is crazy. You go to Disney at the busy time of the year that’s what you get. Nobody going to feel sorry for you. You love Disney that much then wait for a ride that last 3 seconds. Your own fault. So if a ride breaks down oh well. Stip happens.
