I was friends with Pepe and Wile E a long time ago and I have received more then my fare share of abuse. I am not aware of how the head on this costume is secured to the actor but Wile E had an adjustable head band and chin strap. You have zero idea how certain interaction can hurt the actor. Granted the handler should’ve been more available to the character. I had a child about this age jump up grab Wile E’s snout and hang his entire weight on the nose. That was 20 years ago. I have permanent nerve damage in my neck. Hurts almost everyday. Please teach your kids better.
That family should have been thrown out with trespassing warrant, to never return. Take the boy to Juv Detention Center or even 33rd street jail for assault and battery.
Good, a stomp should of been better. You go to these parks & their parents automatically assume that they & their children can do whatever they want. They have no respect for the park & it’s guest. It’s expensive, yes, but if done with care & respect & consideration for others. Everyone can take part. The problem is these guest should be taken out & banned along with the group. The more you let them get away with, the more they will do. Disrespectful actions & blatantly disregarding others with no care. Just should not be dealt with period.
They don’t need to be socially distanced permanently people need to teach their kids manners and to show some respect. I hope they get back to normal soon with autographs and photos as they were pre-pandemic.
Not just the Princesses. Minnie, Lilo, Mickey, they all get grabbed inappropriately, some in accident some definitely on purpose. Grabbing up skirts. My daughter was friends with them all. Twice with Donald, has foot/ankle dislocated when a kid stepped on Donald’s foot and shoved him. Another a child (old enough to know better) stood under Donald’s beak and punched his beak upward as hard as he could snapping Donald’s head backwards. Needless to say that one was told along with parents they would be removed from the park if they mistreated any other characters. They didn’t take neck injuries lightly. He’d Donald off stage and the EMT’s there immediately.
These cast members have to go through alot during the day. Those costumes are heavy and hot on sunny days. I have worn these kinds of costumes, it takes alot out of you. That is why you should never grab or push or anything else. The cast member did the right thing to walk away.
Kids who are are old enough should be taught to know better and have more respect. This behavior is not acceptable. Permanent removal from the park should be implemented whenever this happens.
So I have mixed feelings about this as a parent. Disney and other theme parks pretend it is the actual character. My child is 5 years old and still thinks they are real characters and not a person under there.
There should be instruction videos of how this interactions should go or signs of rules like going on a Rollercoaster.
I know people assume kids should know better but it is a lie like Santa clause and goes on too long sometimes. The character handlers should verbally gives rules before letting kids step up.
I tell my kid to take it easy and relax but theme parks over stimulate.
I feel bad for all cast members and try to not unload on them or unfairly blame them for things they are forced to enforce.
Disney in particular not wanting to be them fair wages in California is upsetting.
Real person or fake character, as child shouldn’t abuse or touch EITHER. I don’t understand what you’re torn about. Wrong is wrong, real life or make believe
It’s not Disney’s job to teach your kid to not pull, hit or inappropriately touch anyone, that’s your job as a parent. Teach your kid manners and boundaries and they will know that is not an appropriate way to behave.
Do you say it is adults just being adults NO well then Let’s say Parents not being PARENTS and teaching their kids to respect others no matter the age or size! What if that was your friend and the kid did that to them?
Most of those “adults” in those costumes are college age girls. Most or the costumes have physical requirements of being tiny. Like under 5’2″ and 100lbs soaking wet. These aren’t NFL linebackers dressing up as Mickey Mouse. Most of the people in costume are relatively fragile themselves and can only do it for so long before the weight of the head starts to give them neck and back issues…without some kid tugging on ears and noses and whatnot.
No, kids are NOT being kids. They are rude, crass, and crude. I never did anything like that when I was a kid. I was raised better than that. The old kids are being kids excuse is not going to fly.
Teach your kids about consent and this will never be a problem. You never touch someone without their consent. This lesson has massively far reaching consequences and is simple enough for any child to learn
I’m sure thus family will argue that this ruined the magic for their precious angel but what about ruining the magic for the rest of the pelle their. I hope they got tossed and banned. Hopefully thee were no repercussions to the cast member for their action but I’m betting there were.
I really don’t understand what the debate is here. I am an early childhood educator and teaching kids to be respectful of others is not that hard. It takes the adults in their lives telling and showing them that it is never OK to touch someone in any way that they don’t like and that there will, and should be consequences if you do. Toddlers can learn this. Stop relying on schools, parks, and CARTOON CHARACTERS ON TV to do your job as a parent.
I agree, when I was a kid my parents taught me manners, they did not rely on other people to do their job. Parents today don’t teach their children any kind of manners

Don’t attack the actor and they won’t have to defend themselves. Hope Ferb sues if he has any injuries.

If character meet-and-greets were socially distanced permanently, this would not happen again.
I’ve read horror stories of our lovely princesses being sexually harassed. This has to STOP.

Guest’s, Keep your hands to yourself. It’s about time cast members react without repercussion when a guest touches them in an inappropriate manner.

Or how about just a warning. That kid wasn’t trying to start trouble, despite it not being a good move.

The happiest, socially distant, place on earth. I remember loving Disney as a kid, grown ups ruin everything.
Seth Traver
Whiny adults have ruined things, but that’s entirely irrelevant to this article regardless.

Those were children, hope they have posted signs not to touch the actors. If not Disney is at fault. If it was an adult it would be fine.
