Wakanda forever!
As Marvel fans around the world mourned the death of Marvel icon Chadwick Boseman in 2020, many wondered what this would mean for future Black Panther films in the MCU and the Black Panther character itself. Marvel has not officially announced its plans for the next entry in the Black Panther series or how it will handle the character of T’challa/Black Panther, but a fan-created petition might solve this issue for them.

A now widely-publicized petition was created by Marvel fans in an attempt to “save” the character of T’challa by recasting him instead of completely removing the character from future MCU films. The petition was created months ago and has now reached almost 50,000 total signatures, making it safe to say this petition will for sure be noticed by both Marvel and Disney. At 50,000 signatures, this petition will become one of the top petitions signed on the entire Change.org website with even Boseman’s own brother defending the petition.

Chadwick Boseman died in 2020 at 43 after a prolonged yet unannounced battle with colon cancer. The actor’s performance as T’challa/Black Panther was insanely popular and resonated with millions of fans. Boseman became an icon for African American representation in Hollywood, portraying iconic black figures like James Brown and Jackie Robinson. After the incredible success of Black Panther (2018), a sequel seemed inevitable. Sadly, however, it was revealed recently that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) would be shutting down production until next year, leaving many fans wondering what could be going on on and off-set.
