James Gunn, the patriarch of the Guardians of the Galaxy saga, has been on social media and quickly letting Marvel fans know updates as well as shooting down false rumors. We previously reported on James Gunn denying that filming for the third volume had started, due to a video posted on Twitter by Marvel actor Chris Pratt stating that it was “day one” on the set of the new film.

Now, James Gunn is shooting down another rumor. A Twitter account dedicated to Marvel Cinematic Universe updates posted that Daniela Melchior (Suicide Squad) has been cast to play the role of Moondragon. James responded to the tweet by saying, “FALSE.” The tweet has been posted below.

Both Guardians of the Galaxy films can be streamed on Disney+ until the third volume is officially released in theaters nationwide on May 5, 2023. The upcoming specials I Am Groot and Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special do not have official release dates at this time.

Moondragon is a Marvel character who hails from Los Angeles, California. She is affiliated with the Avengers and Defenders. Her official biography has been posted below.

“An Earth girl adopted by the Eternals of Saturn’s moon Titan after the rogue Eternal Thanos killed her parents, Heather was raised by Titan’s Shao-Lom monks, whose tutelage awakened her latent psionic powers while helping her achieve physical and intellectual perfection. Unfortunately, she grew arrogant, a trait reflected by her adoption of the name Moondragon after she seemingly destroyed the cosmic demon Dragon of the Moon. The Dragon secretly survived inside her, bolstering and feeding upon the darker aspects of her personality.”
