I just renewed our Gold Annual Passes as Sorcerer Passes and really disappointed with the price and lost benefits. Disney was always the gold standard for customer service but now they are nickel and diming us like Universal Studios. Fast Passes were a great way to plan a trip but now we have to pay extra for a less effective Genie+. Very disappointed.

Domestic parks posted a profit of $2 million, marking the first quarter with a profit since the pandemic began in March 2020. Mr. Chapek isn’t going anywhere with these types of numbers. He wants to make more money with a lesser number of guests. Look at the pre-covid park numbers. Chapek increased park profitability in years where the number of guest fell slightly or remained stagnate. Disney doesn’t want Joe middle class. The middle class doesn’t generate enough revenue per guest. Basically the middle class family either splurges big time to have a magical time or they will have long waits and less magical time. There is a direct correlation between Disney Magic & Money Spent. More Money More Disney Magic.

Now with the Disney Stores gone, I’m not spending $7- $15 on shipping for a few items. I’m slowly withdrawing from Disney because I can spend my money on affordable vacations with lower crowds and frankly better foods.

I’m glad Bob Chapek is raking in the money, I think that’s smart of him, and I’m not signing any stupid petition. The same people who sign petitions are also the ones who wait in line for hours to buy pop corn buckets, who subscribe to Disney+, who get up at 7 to purchase LL for RotR before anybody else, who are DVC and AP holders. I’m none of those things, and I’m glad Chapek is getting money out of those people, despite their kicking and screaming.
The existence of such a petition actually shows that Chapek is doing a good job. The purpose of the CEO is not to appease the customers, but to maximize profit, which is essential to the survival of any company, especially during these pandemic times. It’s not like the customers know how to run the company. If Chapek is truly doing a bad job, people will stop paying money to Disney, and profits will fall. If the opposite is happening, that means people are paying money reluctantly. But what matters is, they are paying all the same.

From a business point of view, that makes him an excellent CEO. A business exists to make money. There’s nothing wrong with raising prices and reducing benefits so long as people continue to pay willingly. Nobody is making people put up with the price hikes and the benefit cuts. Chapek knows that they will continue to go to the parks, buy merch and subscribe to Disney+. This petition only shows that people are not happy with having to pay more. That’s not news, Chapek and everybody else knows that. The only thing that matters is, will they continue to pay? The answer is yes. Therefore, the petition is worthless.
