Today is a monumental day for the Walt Disney World Resort as it continues to move towards its full reopening status after the pandemic closed it for months.
In the beginning, we saw a gradual reopening of offerings as well as Resorts, and now, only a small handful of Resorts remain closed. Today, Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside is finally reopening! The Resort has remained closed for over a year and a half and Cast Members are now excited to see it return.
On the Walt Disney World Cast and Community Page on Facebook, it was noted:
We never run out of reasons to celebrate our Cast at Walt Disney World! Just a few weeks into our 50th anniversary celebration, Cast Members are commemorating yet another resort reopening at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside! The team brings Southern charm and hospitality to life each day, making magic for Guests of all ages. We could not be more grateful for all that they do. Congratulations on your reopening, Riverside Cast! And to ALL of the more than 65,000 Cast Members working across Walt Disney World Resort…YOU ARE THE MAGIC! #DisneyCastLife #Reopening
As the post notes, it is currently the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort, so ensuring that some of the Guest favorite Resorts would be available for booking was a must for Disney. We will soon see its sister Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter join the reopening party on October 28!
One big reason that many fans are excited to see the Resort reopen today is that it will bring back a classic form of entertainment that Port Orleans Guests love. Bob Jackson, also known as Yehaa Bob, will be returning this evening to River Roost Lounge! To learn more about his return and how the new modified performances will work, click here.
