As long as people DO NOT use the service, not only will prices go down, they will abolish it. Money talks folks. Don’t give in and let greed win. Another thing to note, the standby line wait times are fabrications, purposely raised to entice you to getting genie+ and/or lightning lane. Lying, cheating, and greed. Walt would fire the entire board. What a way to celebrate 50 Years, with greed and deception!

Having used MaxPass at Disneyland, which is pretty close to what this is, it is honestly worth every penny and by charging (a very small fee honestly), it keeps the number of people using it down and makes both standby and lightning lanes much faster.

Let’s be honest, FP+ in its previous form was unsustainable, I mean booking rides 30-60 days in advance was just the beginning of the problems, add in the capacity they had to give it, it caused massive issues with the stand-by queues as well, making them take longer than they needed to. This setup provides a much better balance and actually controls crowds better, just as we saw with MaxPass when it was introduced at Disneyland and likewise, we will likely see some tweaks along the way.

This can in no way be considered a small fee. Perhaps if you are an annual pass holder, you may consider it to be. However, when I am travelling a couple of thousand miles, paying for a hotel (resort), meals (without a meal plan), $120.00 + per day entrance fee, $15.00 for Genie + etc., this is an exorbitant reach by the Disney organization. Probably seen the last of my family, unfortunately.

We are not ‘divided’ on this issue. With one voice, our response is ‘NO WAY MICKEY!’
My worry……. Disney doesn’t give a crap’s ass what we think!!
We’re all going to March to the “pay-to-ride” drum.
Unreal how it’s changed over the years.
      Bummer.

Just purchased a trip for March. Genie + when purchased on a package is all or nothing. You have to pay for it for everyday of your trip.

Wow, that stinks. I am beyond disappointed with Disney lately. This is not the place we had all grown to love.

  3. Jeannie

After spending this crazy, woefully-under -planned -for week of the Genie+ rollout, you should change your name to “INSIDE THE CHAOS”. And I’m not kidding! Long time passholders. This is a money grabbing disaster.

Trip in March 2022 with total confusion between lighting lane Genie+and Genie
Hope things get worked out by March

Nothing but greed by Disney now. Sad because we loved going to Disney with our 1st daughter every couple years. Haven’t been back since 2018. Now we have another daughter in the house we would love to do the same but not liking anywhere Disney is going now. We priced just 3 of us again a couple months ago for the same time we did in 2018 & it was almost $1,000 more without fast pass, rising food prices there, & less amenities. No way. They need someone to get back to Walt’s original idea which is make vacations affordable to all.

  5. Out of my price range. I just cannot afford to do this. There is no going back. Disney will never get rid of it regardless of how many people are disappointed. I guess my Disney trips are over.

Stand in line, wait you’re turn!
    Pass it on.

I can afford it but I won’t. I’m done with Disney. The company is greedy and their movies/shows are getting less family oriented and constantly pandering instead of just providing entertaining. This is not walts dream and I will not support it.

    1. Jet.Screamer

This is where we stand as well. They are no longer the gold standard for family entertainment, I have to double check everything they release before I allow my child to watch it. Even Disney+ has the laziest parental control setup, on a child profile I have to trust that Disney is making the same choices I would. Not anymore.

  8. Mickeymouse3

Bob Paycheck at it again. No surprise here that he raised prices shortly after introduction.

  9. Eileen

And it doesn’t include the new attractions? Those are an additional fee? I will be planning to take my grandchildren to Universal.

This is not a new thing!

I am guessing that everyone has forgotten about ticket books coating A-B-C-D-E tickets. If you ran out of E-tickets, and you did, you would need to purchase more tickets to ride additional rides.

If you were unable to afford that cost you may have to settle for an A, B, or C attraction.

Some could even afford a book of all E-tickets so that they could ride anything. There are always going to be people who can afford something more than you (and me) and this is just part of that.

It seems like this is just another way of having 2 tiers of those who have the money and go all the time and those who save for MANY YEARS for that once in a life time trip..as a family with 12 of us that go together (4 generations) this extra expense is a HUGE amount more to come up with to ride just 1 or 2 of those special rides. We had only gone every 4 years so I don’t fall into the rich or upper tier group. I understand the parks are becoming very crowded but to pay per ride after the admission is going a bit far I think anyway. I do like the idea of Genie + as the fast pass was’t working when someone could get them 60 days in advance and that left many out daily to obtain them. My park is Disneyland and have only been to WDW 2 times.

  12. Barb304

This is a joke. We already pay way too much just to go to WDW but then they want us to pay even more on top of the outlandish amounts we’ve already paid just to wait in a particular line, NO WAY! They should rename it Greedy Genie! And having to pay for a parking space at your already overpriced resort, RIDICULOUS!

23 years in a row my husband and i had gone to Disney World for our anniversary. I had also gone in 72 and 88. I could see things getting worse and worse but this Genie takes the cake. Talk about gouging people. We saw them charge for parking at the resorts, now this?? I think since we have old tickets we will go and see what we can get for those, and then hunt somewhere else to vacation. Trying to make up for the pandemic losses? You should be glad anyone is coming there. Quite spending on expensive hotels that the normal person can’t afford. I think this will break the backs of the average family. You can’t do this and expect people to keep on paying out the nose. As far as the booklets from way back, prices back then weren’t near anything like they are now.

Too much of the “Magic” is gone and by Magic I mean the extras you got when you stayed at a Disney Hotel. I always stayed at a Value Resort. No more Magical Express, no more Extra Magic Hours, No luggage and Airline Check in services, Paying for resort parking if you rent a car, no more free fast passes, not only is Genie+ $15 per person per day but you have to pay another handful of money for each popular ride in the Lightening Lane. no free dining plans, no anytime park hopping you have to wait till 2pm. Now you need a park reservation on top of your paid tickets. Sadly everyone of these things will add a lot of money to your trip.
Getting out of reach for a lot of families and this will make some people happy. The ones who will say stay home if you can’t afford it and it will be less crowded for us. Oh well, I guess it’s time to vacation somewhere else.

  15. Larry Lewis

I’m standing in line. I paid enough to get there.

  16. Ryan

When I read Fastpass was going I was really disappointed and figured when we next go then maybe we’d pay the 30 dollars+tax for 2 people, for a couple of days but to then find out that wouldn’t include the bigger rides and will be about the same again to do the Star Wars or Avatar rides I’m absolutely disgusted at Disney. We have to save to be able to go and to have to find hundreds of dollars more to basically get what was included before, let alone not getting Magical Express from the airport any more, is just unbelievable and going to make it so much harder to go. I really hope people boycott it but I guess that’s not going to happen.

  17. Kenna Henion

This will be my last trip to Disney World. I am disgusted by the money grubbing greed! Losing all the amenities but having to pay extra for certain rides, for magic bands and loss of the Magical Express…it’s just too much to stomach. I have brought my granddaughter every year for 9 years now, but next trip will be elsewhere. This is NOT the affordable, family friendly experience Walt Disney had in mind. So very sad.

    1. Elle dub

I agree! We had already bought tickets before new changes were announced. I’m gonna be pushing the beach hard with my son after this trips over. The Caribbean is now “cheap” compared to Disney. Who would’ve thought?
