While I don’t see it happening anytime soon, the reservation system needs to go away. Disney is pretty much the only park left using reservations.

“Dream Key” is an appropriate description . . . if we are talking about a bad dream. We have been annual passholders for years, but just tried to reserve some days in December to see the holiday decorations, and there are no Friday-Sunday dates available. We cannot go during the week because of school and work. The worst part is that ALL of the days are available if you want to purchase a ticket. These passes are not supposed to have black-out dates, but the reservation calendar they show looks like nothing but black-out dates. This is not much of a way to thank people who have been loyal passholders, and frankly, it seems as if it borders on fraud (which is not a word I use lightly). Some have posted about getting a refund, but Disney told me there are no refunds. If anyone knows how to get one, I would love to know how. This is not the flexibility and access we expected to have as passholders. Rather, we assumed that purchasing annual passes would allow for spontaneity. Not so when we cannot find a weekend day for over three months. This is a huge slap in the face.

This is happening to us. We are lucky to be able to go in November for 5 days but family is coming in December to celebrate a 50th birthday so we wanted to go 2 days in December too, to celebrate together. We bought the Magic Key Dream Key due to our multiple trips scheduled over weekends, but now cant book the December dates since its limited to 6 daily pre-reservations. And now the weekend we want (Dec 4-5) is now booked solid for the 5th. Not looking good for our plans. When you pay that much, you’d think you would be able to go when you want. Just disappointed and stressed, when it was supposed to be fun.

I have an Enchant card because I’m retired and weekdays are fine for me. Also, I’d rather not go during busy times or in the summer. But the entire month of January is unavailable. How is that possible? I wanted to go for a few days around my birthday, but there isn’t one day available in January. Not one. What day of the month do they open up reservations for February? I’ll have to check back over and over and pounce. This is ridiculous. January isn’t usually an overly busy month. The only good news is that I haven’t used the card at all yet, so if I don’t get a reservation until May it doesn’t activate until then. Crazy times.

You can only make reservations up to 90 days in advance so January reservations aren’t available yet. Hope you can go for your bday!!

After the holidays I’m canceling mine. What a waste of money seriously

Yeah, the magic key is bad news. We got them for the family, and wanted to go for three week days but we have two parks max reservations. Originally I figured we’d reserve the 3rd day after our 1st. Lol yeah right! No openings for weeks. I kinda understand that but what REALLY rubbed salt in the wound is the 3rd day we wanted was wide open for new ticket purchases.

It’s pretty clear that Disney spent a lot of time figuring out how to monetize the system but very little time focusing on experience. I feel really bad for top tier key holders who can’t get the times they want.

I mean, It makes sense from a financial perspective, lock in money from pass holders then cater to new ticket purchases for max profits.

Problem is it’s short term cuz we’ve already decided we won’t get one next year.

I’m sure you’re getting lots of complaints from your key holders on reservations, and I’d like to add my name to the list.

My daughter and I purchased Believe keys, and as of today, the there are no reservations at all for the rest of October, and no reservations available for weekends for the rest of the year! This is beyond ridiculous!

If we are never going to be able to actually use the passes we purchased, at this point I’d like to ask if there’s any way to get a pro-rated refund and just cancel our passes. We got these passes to go on weekends, and there are none available for the next 3 months! In what reality does that even remotely make sense?

^^^ The above is the e-mail I sent to Disney

I agree with all of the comments above! A completely frustrating experience and a total waste of $. Bought 4 dream passes for the family as we live close and always liked the convenience of dropping into a park whenever we wanted, even if for a hours or just to grab a churro or watch the fireworks. And now that is impossible! we saw how fast weekends were booking up so we used our 6 reservations and planned visits out through December! That’s not the flexibility we paid for. Disney needs to figure this out or I’m cancelling all of our passes and I’m sure won’t be the only ones. Definitely not the “guest first” experience we are used to!

I have 5 dream key passes, instead it became reality nightmare passes. I feel Disney has stolen my money. Which was so hard to put together in this pandemic time, it was supposed to be a relaxed mental health get away time. And Disney does not care for our budget compromised when we have to make payments. Where is Disney’s compromise to all key holders and let us enjoy the park for the days we pay for. At least Disney should extend our key holders expiration date for another 12 months, for the price we already paid for, to make things evenly.

I have 4 Dream Key passes for the kids and us and it’s sadly a total fail. I would have been much better off just purchasing tickets when we want to go as opposed to this methodology. I’m sure Disney did the best the could but it doesn’t work. I’ll definitely seek a prorated refund sadly.

I was there with my family and friends the day before yesterday (saturday) on a day pass. While there we were excited enough to upgrade our day passes to dream keys. when we got home we wanted to book a weekend visit. our friends without dream keys booked jan 8, arranged travel and hotels. When we went to book it, it seems the ONLY weekend in three months open is jan 15/16. I bought the dream key because i can only go on weekends and intended to go frequently. Now i am calling Disney and they wont refund it!!! I have to buy tickets (which are available for every day for the next 3 months). I have wasted $4500 dollars on passes i cant use. I am NOT the happiest person on earth right now. I cant believe I can’t get a refund for passes i bought under false pretenses 2 days ago and have never used.

Extraordinarily disappointing for our family to decide to use our family vacation funds this year for “Dream Keys,” and not be able to actually get even get in the gate. The reservation system does not allow delivery on what Disney Resort already sold. Horrific Disney “service.”

While I am not a fan of the limited availability with reservations, I think it might be a necessary compromise so that the wait times for certain rides aren’t so insane

Yes, I am having this same issue. I have 3 days over Thanksgiving weekend, and tried to do it over NYE. I have reservations for the 30th and 31st but January 1st is no longer available. So, I’m debating on extending my trip to January 3rd, to take advantage of January 2nd, but that appears to be limited. The Dream Key is a pipe dream.

I sent an email recently to the Disney CEO, Disneyland President and others addressing this problem specifically and other issues. I actually received a brief reply back from the Disneyland President, Ken Potrock. He then had one of his directors call me. They said they are working on all of this and understand there is a problem and people are upset. We then discussed the cost of tickets and how they are gouging people with high prices….two weeks later I heard on the news they are increasing ticket prices again in March. I don’t know how much they are actually listening to people??!
