If Disney is going to start mandating vaccines for patrons, they will lose my business as well as my family’s business. My vaccination status is no one’s business but my own and that decision will be made between myself and my personal physician. What happened to HIPPA?

    1. Rick

I’m happy that DeSantis is standing with choice. But it isn’t the patrons that are in jeopardy, they can just not patron the cruise line. It is tje employees of Disney that are in the most danger. Hundreds will loose their jobs starting this month for vaccine requirements. No law protecting them and our governor hasn’t even began to tackle this issue. In Texas, no entity government or private can require a vaccine passport. Florida, DeSantis should look at Texas for guidance.

    2. Rob

You should look up HIPAA (that’s how you spell it) on Google and not take a politician’s word for it. You’re doing yourself a disservice.

The very simplistic view of it is that “covered entities” (aka Health Providers and the like) have to safeguard the information they collect. It doesn’t mean someone – like a Cruise Line – can’t ask you to volunteer your medical information. You don’t have to give it to them. That’s the beauty of freedom! Likewise, as a corporation – they don’t have to provide you service if you won’t follow their rules. Freedom works both ways.

    3. Rick

Dawn, I’m glad to see that I won’t be running into you on the cruise! Your ignorance of science and medicine (not to mention HIPAA) shows that not only do you not deserve to be on the ship putting everyone’s life at risk, but you really don’t deserve to be breathing the same air as the rest of us who understand that the vaccine protects not only my family, but idiot’s like you.

      1. Melissa

if the vaccine protects you then why do you care if dawn is vaccinated or not, you’re the idiot rick

why do the protected need to be protected from the unprotected by forcing the unprotected to use the protection that didnt protect the protected in the first place?

your ignorance of science and medicine is blaring obvious rick, keep being a good sheep!

    4. Scott

HIPPA doesn’t apply outside of the medical establishment. Disney, and any business or other entity, are fully within their rights to ask for your vaccinations status according to HIPPA. And if the state of Florida is stupid enough to go after a company like Disney for this, fine. Throw them out. Stop them from cruising from your ports. It’s not Disney that will lose, it’s Florida and it’s economy. But deSantis is so concerned about his political clout and endearing himself to Cult 45 that he’s willing to throw his state under the bus.

    5. Jessica

This doesn’t violate HIPAA, what does is when someone other than yourself provides your medical information. Example: I’m your employer and I call your doctor to confirm you will be absent due to illness. Your doctor not only confirms your absence but tells me what your illness is as well as treatment. THAT is a violation of HIPAA.

    6. Tim Steele

HIPAA (not HIPPA) does not apply to businesses like Disney – it applies to healthcare providers like doctors, hospitals, etc. You’re welcome not to come – it’ll just make the lines shorter for the rest of us.

    7. frostysnowman

      First, it’s HIPAA, not HIPPA.
Second, HIPAA applies to the way your doctor’s office is or isn’t allowed to share your health information.
Third, it’s cool that this would cause you and your family will all stay away from Disney. That will make more room for the rest of us.

  2. Lisa

Requiring proof of a negative covid test in order to board a cruise ship is reasonable, but requiring proof of covid vaccination is wrong!

    1. Tim Steele

Nope. It’s also a reasonable step. And I’m glad they are doing it. But no one is making you go on a cruise.

      1. Con

Oh the money they will lose. Keep fighting. You’ll eventually catch up. You may have a job for a while but when people start boycotting all things Disney. You’ll be on the job search. Can’t sail with an empty ship.
People have had enough of your dictator attitudes.

      2. heather

I agree tim! its completely reasonable to show proof that you took medicine that doesn’t protect you from the current variant. You make total sense.

    2. frostysnowman

      No, it’s not.

  3. Sarah

As long as Disney keeps forcing mandates, they will lose a ton of business. My family who goes to Disney World and on Disney Cruises every year, will not waste our money. People’s medical information is not something they need to know, nor legally should be allowed to demand. No matter what MSM or social media tells you, the vast majority of people do not support these mandates.

    1. frostysnowman

Cool! You and your family’s absences will leave more room at the parks and on the cruises for the rest of us.

  4. Lou

I guess no more Disney for me or my family either. When it hits the stock prices they’ll get the hint.

    1. Tim Steele

Yay! Shorter lines for the rest of us.

      1. heather

great news for you and your “partner” time!!

    2. Grandma of 7

I love when people threaten this!! If you have been at WDW recently or are planning a trip, dining reservations or a special holiday event you would know they are doing just fine. Please stay home!

    3. Michele FRYAUFF

I love when people threaten this!! If you have been at WDW recently or are planning a trip, dining reservations or a special holiday event you would know they are doing just fine. Please stay home!

    4. frostysnowman

Again I have to say it – Cool! More room for the rest of us.

  5. Bob

Hope Disney keeps pissing off all the anti vaxers and all the other assortments of bozos if it means empty parks and Karen free cruise ships. 👏🏾 👏🏾

    1. Adam

      Haha – true!

    2. J

Only the ignorant think that most people are anti vax when they refuse to succumb to an arbitrary mandate. It boils down to the fact that adults should decide what is appropriate for them and their children. Kudos to Gov. DeSantis for upholding freedom to decide that.

      1. Rick

Are you for seat-belt mandates? speed limits? smoking in restaurants and public places?

I can only hope that natural selection claims you before you procreate.

      2. Bill Nye not a science guy

Government also says your child can’t attend school without proper vaccines and immunizations but you choose not to argue that??

        1. tiffany

lol not you again, those are actual vaccines that work! how many people got the polio vaccine to only get polio later but with less severe symptoms? i’ll answer for you, none. A vaccine is supposed to prevent somebody from getting a disease and prevents the spread of a disease. Hows that working with the covid “vaccine”?

      3. Tim Steele

If you weren’t anti-vax you’d already be vaccinated at this point. So, yeah, it’s very reasonable to assume that people objecting to the mandate are the unvaccinated idiots. You still have the freedom not to be vaccinated – there’s no such thing as a mandate. But you may not have access to certain services.

        1. Greg Tillis

Nope. Dumb comment. Just because Disney (or you for that matter) are ignorant of acquired immunity through recovery of the disease, doesn’t make another “anti-vax.”

I am safer to be around than you (if you have not had covid). That’s science.

    3. Karen E Brokken

Love pissing off antivaxxers who don’t get government safety measures like wearing a seatbelt, requiring food service workers to wash their hands, and the freedom of business owners who choose to follow public safety guidelines.
But have you ever actually met a person in real life whose first name is Karen?
It’s getting tiring how many people who meet me and express surprise that I’m actually a considerate person.

  6. Amy

The Disney ships are registered in the Bahamas and the Bahamas requires proof of vaccination and a negative test to anyone traveling there. That’s why Disney has to require the vaccine to anyone old enough the receive it. When you step on the ships you are technically not on property that’s part of Florida.
If you don’t want to vaccinate, wait until the mandate made by the Bahamas is lifted.

  7. Maria

No one has the right to tell me or anyone else what to do with our bodies whatever happened to my body my choice. We do not live in a communistic or under dictatorship we are free to choose what’s best for us without any intervention from the government. Whatever I choose is my business and only my business. GOD in his word gave me the gift of choice why would I let a man take that away.

    1. Amy

Maria, God did not create freedom…man’s free will did.

And as to choice, Disney has no choice but rather is required to ensure a safe working environment for their employees and customers by OSHA. Your choice is to simply comply or not travel on their ships.

  8. D.A. Oldham

Disney mandated employee vaccines BEFORE Biden did, DCL before that. Every cruise (23 since 2013) I had health questionnaire, signed paper “no fevers or throwing up last 3 days…”. On ship you’re quarantined if you do. 10yrs ago we got notice from school kids had to get a new vaccine or couldn’t attend. Also DCL doesn’t fly US flag, theyre registered in Bahamas & fly their flag. DeSantis knows all this. He’s wasting taxpayer money for self promotion.

  9. frostysnowman

“Landmark Legistlation”? That’s laughable and I hope Disney tells DeSantis to suck it if he tries to fine them.

  10. Shanda Everhart

Disney quit making your personal choices every one else’s! U make enough $$$ as it is! Be neutral on this! Let Americans choose And whit bro g so liberal! I went shopping last week 35 stores in your store is the only one that required a mask! Come on already!! U will lose my money

  11. PalterEgo

Really sad that we live in a country where so many people are dependent on the government to make their medical decisions for them.
