Buzzt! Wrong. While the 50-star version of the US flag is the CURRENT version, there are 27 EARLIER versions that are REAL flags of these United States (26 versions if you don’t count the Grand Union flag). According to the U.S. Army Institute of Heraldry, the United States flag never becomes obsolete. Any approved American flag may continue to be used and displayed until no longer serviceable.
The 45-star flag was current for 12 years from July 4, 1896 to July 3, 1908; Utah was the 45th state.
