This is our voice being heard. You raise prices and take away the magic, this is what you get. It has little to do with covid, so quit using that as an excuse or blame for everything bad going on with Chapek’s bad greedy, managing. We boycot and speak up. Complain to them about you don’t like. Call and write. Money talks. They don’t get our money and they’ll have to listen.
I was thinking that same thing. People are sick and tired of their greed and then they turn around and give $32,000 to a failing governor who kept one of the parks shut for over a year. And I believe chapek and all of the uppers got a pay increase. Just disgusting!
We have been WDW fanatics since it opened , even got married there . This is our last year going & only going because we have too much invested already for December including DVC Resort point rental, airfare, park tickets & special event ticket( all non-refundable) . Maybe everyone else is tired like us of all the Disney Corp. BS !!!
For me, proof of WDW being “empty” was the ability to get a boarding group for RotR late in the afternoon on Sunday. I watched the times this week, and today (Saturday), is the first day they were gone just at 1:05 pm, most of the week, you could get a boarding group until at least 4 pm, but on Wednesday, as late as 8:30 pm.
We will be arriving tomorrow! (so excited, and keeping our fingers crossed that the crowds stay low). I think it *is* Covid that is the reason for the low crowds since Delta is hitting kids hard and they don’t have access to a vaccine. If we had children we would *not* be going – it’s just too risky to chance at this time. But we are all fully vax’d, a few of us had Covid last year, and we’re loaded up with masks, hand sanitizer, wipes and Vit D3. That’s no guarantee I know, I know. And hopefully the un-vaccinated will listen to the CDC for once and not travel this weekend, which will make it safer for everyone (especially themselves).
you’re loaded up with masks, hand sanitizer, wipes (btw dave, we found out over 8 months ago that your chances of getting the virus by touching a surface is practically zero) and Vit D3? I admire you’re confidence in the vaccine! I also applaud you for being brave enough to get your medical advice from politicians and the media. Hope you enjoy your day at the park!
I cannot applaud your ignorance. Your whole post is full of bull-oney. Did you not receive vaccines when you were a child? They worked, so why wouldn’t the covid vaccine? Keep you unsubstantiated “theories” to yourself.
people who are fully vaccinated are still getting the virus, a vaccine is suppose to prevent you from getting a virus and spreading it, can’t say that about this vaccine
Rubber stamped by the FDA is what you meant to say…and during the pres dental campaign both Biden and Harris said they wouldn’t take a vaccine rushed through by Trump. The science you are following is akin to a weathervane…changing to whichever way the political winds blow.
If you and your family are vaxxed, why are you so worried about what everyone else does? Plus, science seems to have forgotten about natural immunity which at this point seems to be a better protection than the vax. And considering science has said transmission from a contaminated surface is almost zero, your obsession with masks, sanitizer and vitamins seems to be bordering on the line of a mental health issue. All of your obsessive preparation leads me to believe you don’t think the vax works…which means you should be the one to stay home this holiday weekend to protect your mental health.
It will pick up once international guests start coming back too. We’re planning a trip for next year and expecting it to be busy for the 50th and other international guests returning. I hope it stays quiet like this forever though, that will show them we don’t want to pay more money. We’re not going to be paying for fastpass, it’s ridiculous.
Our family has pretty much given up on Disney. High prices for a do so experience is now their new normal. We’ve decided to spend our money now at Universal Studios just down the road. Disney no longer wants the pass holders money. Time to move on. There is life after Disney and most likely a better one.
Ken is absolutely right! Disney has simply priced out the average family. We are paying more and getting less. Blame Bob Iger as well as Bob Chapek for that (Iger still has his fingers in Disney; he is the one pushing the mask).
The annual pass for Florida residents is too high.
And, the reservation system sucks. As a Florida resident if I get an annual pass there should be zero black out dates and be able to go when I want.
Also, the fact that Disney mandates masks and an experimental vaccine for all cast members keeps away. I will not support communism.
You can have zero blackout days with the highest tier pass. We’re paying more and getting more. Or do you not enter Avatar, Toy Story Land, Galaxy’s Edge, MMRR, Skyliner, Tron, Guardian’s, Ratatouille, etc?
The reservation system is basically wide open now, even for day-of trips. Please, do the rest of us a favor, and don’t go back to DW.
We are in Disney for the Labor Day weekend and I do not know what they are talking about because the parks are far from empty. These back to back articles is Disney sending messages to the influencers to push that the parks are empty. I went to HS yesterday at 6:00 pm and the wait times were decent but the main alley was packed.
This is only going to get worse since people are buying into the 18 month celebration of the 50th.
This is why you need to weigh the influence of these blogs and their bias as they are beholding to Disney for their access.
I agree with almost everyone except the covid couple…first stop with the vax stuff if you already had covid which i have i dont need a vaccine. People are waiting for the 50th and some people are frustrated with all the changes. I happen to be in bith camps. My family has been blessed to be able to go annually for a decade and wanted to be there to experience the 50th. However I wrote to Disney ,nit that they care with all the changes not benefitting on-site guest. Why would you stay on Disney property anymore. Magicbands used to be free, magic express is gone, you used to get extra magic hours now u get 30 min unless your in a deluxe resort. By the way your paying for a nicer resort that’s what you get should have nothing to do with where you stay on site. EXTRA MAGIC HOURS NOT EXTRA MAGIC HALF HOUR. Fastpasses nit will cost me 1500 extra to do Genie plus and lighting lane for our family of 5. Free dining now once they offer dining again will b another 2k. I will b spendibg almost 9k for flights, stay, fastpass, and food…this used to cost 5k 2 years ago. Its becoming a joke. Very disappointed loyal guest..used to be anyway!
Exactly, getting much less of an experience and paying a lot more for it. What’s the point in staying on property? No magical express, no extra magic hours, wow xtra 30 mins in the am, no free fastpass, no free parking at resorts. Mark my words, with the new genie + and lightning lane program, how much do you want to bet that the wait times will be inflated so that some people will pay the extra $ for it.
I agree with those of you who have posted the lines are short because of the prices. The prices are outrageous! I used to be able to go at least once a year and a couple of times twice a year. But with today’s prices those days are over! The (non)Disney people running the show have to be among the greediest in the world!!! If they continue the way they’re going it would serve them right if one day they awoke to empty parks!
I am here currently (which is my 21st visit here). I am highly discouraged and quite aggravated on so many levels. The parks are far from empty. They need to stop taking pictures showing 3-4 people. It simply is not the truth. Today is the busiest I have ever seen and I have been here on July 4th and Christmas. The reduced hours make it nearly impossible to make it through a park and ride more than 4 rides. The order ahead for food is a nice thought if it would actually work. The food options are really reduced at the hotel food venues. There are 4 items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can only eat so many burgers, chicken sandwiches and turkey sandwiches (and don’t forget about the tofu option). In the parks, half the restaurants aren’t open, making reservations very limited. The food is overpriced ($11.00 for a hotdog), and souvenir prices are higher than ever. I think all the upcoming changes are gonna hurt Disney’s bottom line. Which is unfortunate as I own stock in Disney but even I don’t want to go back.
I purchased DVC because I knew the hotel prices would be going up and up, but now I can’t even afford to go to the parks. We used to go for 7 nights with a 5 day park pass just a few years ago. Now I can really only afford 4 nights and a 3 day pass. Disney listen up… the majority of people aren’t making more money yet you expect us to pay more. You’re not only pricing people out of the parks, you’re also pricing yourself out of business in the long run.
I wish this low crowd weekend was a trend. As an AP the crowds have been horrible for months. The only new varient in our theories is that schools reopened. Also, and probably because of, many new cases of COVID have happened. Disney doesn’t check your temperature anymore so the sick and infected can enter. We were there over the labor day weekend and many hand sanitizers were empty or simply not there, thank goodness we all brought our own. It’s truly the wild west, no masks outdoors and we’re literally inches away from each other in bottle neck areas. The 6 feet markers are mostly gone, the plexiglass in the lines are all gone. Y’all fend for yourselves. We had an excellent time despite the challenges of COVID.

Could it be that the cost if going to Disney for a day for 4 costs about what a months Mortgage is on your house????

With the high prices Bob Paycheck is charging, no one has any money left to go to the parks.

Yes, the constant price hikes and service reductions must end…the greed has reached a maddening point…it has to stop.
