*sigh*…The old Wonders of Life building just can’t get a break. 🙁
Still, it did sound like a combination of easily dated DisneyQuest, and those old Character-dance-party/relaxation-lounges the Studios cheat with when they can’t think of any other new idea for an empty building.
I don’t go to WDW to play video games. We go for real experiences not virtual. I think people will go in once, look around, and leave. There aren’t many kiddie rides in Epcot. Maybe they should have put in 3 kiddie rides, a cool restaurant, and two retail outlets.
It’ll come to fruition eventually. Disney paused all projects during the pandemic, and slowly restarted with Tron. Heck, even guardians might not be ready by next year. They’re not making money hand over fist like 2019, so they are taking a slow approach, SimCity style.
First – Epcot was themed as a unique park: Informational.
Then, some one(s) in authority at Disney decided to slowly do away with that. Examples: Maelstrom to Frozen (which belongs in the Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios), Almost replacing the wonderful movie at France with a “sing along” (sigh!). If they want to do something with that pavilion – I suggest something like another Soarin – but make it Soarin over the United States. Anything to remotely make it informational. With three other parks to take children to, there was no reason to do away with this unique theming. I’ll also add this: Harmonious is an ugly addition to Epcot – and I never saw anything wrong with Illuminations. It had wonderful music and was just fine for fireworks. I miss the fountain of nations with its nice nightly show (lighting and music). Just because something is old, doesn’t mean it has to change…
Honestly, I really question the abilities of the new decision makers at Disney (i.e. changing Splash Mountain and Epcot, etc.). As an annual visitor, it is becoming a sad place vs. a magical place.
