We were evacuated from the People Mover one night. If I remember correctly it was due to thunder and lightening because we were all wear rain ponchos. Not fun with two kids and dark steps. But definitely an experience.

  2. Ride breakdowns/evacuations seem to be more common since the reopening of Walt Disney World. I am wondering if Disney has cut the budget on ride maintenance. Additionally, they have had many issues with audioanimatronics. Get it together Disney!

It’s seems they rather build new things then take care of what is already there but they don’t. Plus they need to get more help they laid so many off and then they other jobs. But then maybe if they treated there employees better they would get people who care about there job. And not work there just because of the extras they get.

It happens a lot. We were evacuated from Splash Mountain at Disneyland last week.

    2. Your probably right. From the people I know that have worked there, several of them did not think it was a very good place to work.

    3. We were evacuated off the Nordstrom ride in Epcot many years ago. The ride for Norway. Probably not there anymore.

How then are riders “given FastPass” to other rides as “compensation” when WDW is not using FastPasses anymore? Someone needs to follow-up & correct this story to find out how Disney “compensates” now for being evacuated.

Disney does give fast passes out now if a ride breaks down. We were in the Run Away Raikroad and it broke down. As we exited the building. cast members scanned our bands and gave us all a fast pass for any ride at Hollywood except Rise of the Resistance or Slinky Dog.

      1. The two that people really want to go on. First you wait in line, then the ride breaks, then buy the time you get out its been another hour, and then they give you a fast pass for a B or C ticket ride. Disney has lost so much over the last several years.

I was there (a couple of boats ahead of molls.ann). Once we were evacuated from the ride, we had to follow a path (yellow arrows were painted on the ground) around the outside of the show building. At the end of the path, cast members with iPads scanned our magicbands which gave us a fastpass (although, basically, the 2 busiest rides at each park are excluded). I used mine the next day at DHS. Just walked up to the old FastPass lane and used my Magicband. Worked like a charm.

We were given a fast pass last week at Disneyland because we were evacuated from Splash Mountain.

Not everything is black and white. Think outside the box for a second. Just because they don’t give out Fast Passes anymore doesn’t mean that they can’t offer them as compensation. It’s not like Fast Passes suddenly don’t exist. They just don’t offer them anymore for their intended purpose. 😉

Back on July 22 we had to be evacuated off Splash Mountain, we had just reached the incline for the final drop when it stopped. Our boat and the mechanism tried to move forward a couple times but then it eventually came to a complete stop. We were all backed up at least 10 boats, after probably 25mins we were evacuated. It was interesting for sure, I was so tired though from the heat that I didn’t mind sitting in the boat longer. We did receive fastpasses which was nice, got to do one more ride before we had to leave. We were also evacuated off the people mover, but it sounded like there was an irate guest on board who wanted to get off. We were all evacuated though but you could see disney security waiting I think they opened the door for the irate guest last. I think with the park being filled up to what seemed like near capacity, the poor rides and maintenance workers couldn’t keep up.

We were there on June 28th and the same thing happened on Splash Mountain.

The cast members have little iPad or phones that scan a fastpass onto your disney band or ticket. Then you can use it at the fastpass entrance, you just tell them you received it from whatever ride had broken down that you were compensated for.

wondering when Chapek will decide to tell us what he is going to do about fastpass. If he can give them out now, whats the hold up.

  7. yoyo

when is Chapek going to decided to tell us whats happening with fastpass.

Hi! Fyi, the pictured cast member is wearing chest-waders, not a wetsuit.

We were on Frozen Ever After in late June this summer when it broke down. We were stuck quite a while. Eventually they drained the water so we could get to stairs to get out. Lights were on the entire time. Weird that wasn’t “in the news.” We also got stuck on Spaceship Earth and Pirates both that week as well, but nothing like the hour long Frozen experience.

People mover, Frozen at Disney / Men in black and Hagrids walking through those were kind of fun though. I looked at it like I got a tour that most don’t get AND a fast pass so…perspective.

This same thing was happening on the exact same ride about a month and a half ago, disappointed Disney get your act together!

Space mountain first time my youngest was able to ride it! Pretty cool picture two giant mouse coasters indoors. Lights came on but we were just about done so we stopped short of being out in the disembarking area. Felt bad for others stuck up high but it started very quickly so no one had to be evacuated out.

We were stuck on It’s a Small World in 2019 for about 30 minutes in the Polynesian/South Pacific section with the drums – it was funny for about 15 minutes, but those drums and the singing became too much after that. No Fastpass or apology, but our family still laughs at that part when we ride it now…

I was on Pirates of Carribean a couple of yrs ago in Nov., ride kept stalling in 1 place, kept getting squirted with water over and over, finally moved on, was getting anxious though…

My daughter & I were evacuated from Thunder Mountain Railroad some years back. It was really cool. We went down some stairs & I realized we were on the first floor underground. We were asked not to take any pictures or videos. We got a fast pass to any attraction in Magic Kingdom.

Years ago before Space mountain was re-done. Someone didn’t get on the ride fast enough and they had to shut it off. And turn the lights on and came and physically pushed our car out. It kind of ruins the space experience when u see basically a warehouse with a roller coaster in it. But whatever it’s a story to tell 🙂

Was in Disney the beginning of July. Little mermaid broke down completely in Magic Kingdom. They came by and had to let each person out of the shell individually. We did not get fast passes for that one. Later that week the fire department has to rescue us on River Rapids in Animal Kingdom. When we were in Disney for a week the following rides broke while in line: Haunted Mansion, Slinky Dog, Rise of the Resistance, Mission Space, Dinosaur, tower of Terror. These didn’t stop because of storms. They straight up were broken down and down for hours. I know a lot of people ride the rides but it was excessive how bad they broke down

    DEPP’S revenge….just saying ???

We got stuck in Tower of Terror in Paris right at the end. It was about 45 min before we got off. The elevator got stuck about 6 ft above the ground and we had to wait for someone to determine it couldn’t be fixed before they brought a step ladder to climb down to the ground and back up to the exit. DH and I were the oldest people on the ride while the rest were all kids. Cast members asked if anyone wanted to ride again on a working elevator and you bet we said “oui!”

My friend and I were evacuated from Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland a few years ago. The train stopped quickly but safely (no whiplash) just inside the tunnel after seeing the howling coyotes. We sat there for a few minutes before they began making announcements that cast members would be coming to assist us and they explained what they were going to do which was release the lap bars and then row by row, starting at the row closest to the ‘engine’ – help us exit the cars and then we were to stand on the path until everyone was out and then they led us thru the rest of the tunnel and out thru the attraction- which was very cool to get to walk thru – and we ended up where the trains depart the station, crossed the track and then everyone received a fast pass – we got ours for Space Mountain. Disappointment that our ride on Thunder Mountain was cut short, but happy for the unique experience of walking thru part of the attraction and getting a fast pass.

We were evacuated off the Dinosaur ride once in Animal Kingdom. It was cool to see it with lights on, but was sort of dangerous to climb down and step over many cords etc. We were not offered anything.
