It’s a good thing they are increasing capacity. Hopefully to allow for this they bring back things like the fastpasses and parades to help disperse crowds. However as someone from the UK it is extremely frustrating to see people complaining about the increases in crowds when they should be grateful they even have access to a disney park.
Simple solution: if you don’t feel safe… don’t go! But we also don’t need to hear any of you complaining about what others choose to do. Your unnecessary fear should never equate to trying to dictate how others can live their lives.
Exactly. They need to get whatever FastPass system in place and all shows running well before they do this. Was there in May 2021 and November 2020 and the lines can be ridiculous even then.
I was just at Disney and felt mostly safe, until I got on a packed boat shoulder to shoulder with people to head back to Wilderness Lodge after Boo Bash. Apparently masks are require everywhere but the boats. It seems crazy to have a mask on in your own Tomorrowland Speedway Car, but not on a packed boat! I had to get off and try a different boat. They packed that one in too, but luckily I got a seat outside.
They really need to bring back FastPasses if capacity is going to increase, as people (including me) will be pissed if they have to wait 2-3 hours for 1 ride. Also, I don’t care if it’s an unpopular opinion right now amongst some people, but either mandate masks everywhere in the parks or require proof of vaccination in order to keep everyone safe. FL is the hot zone for COVID right now and not making any amendments to the current guidelines before increasing capacity would be foolish.
I would really like to know what “capacity “ is. It seems like a moving target. Until we are given the real numbers on how many people the parks can hold (is the fire department involved here?) then all we can do is guess. “Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered”.
Totally agree. If they’re going to let more people in, particularly in Florida, they have to enforce masks and social distancing and require proof of vaccination. When I went to D-land in June and July I felt safe only because I had had my shot and was wearing a mask indoors. I didn’t like being crowded around a bunch of strangers on rides like the Mansion. They want to increase capacity then they better step up their game a lot.
if you so scared get vaccinated or stay home. Increase capacity and bring back fastpass, parades, shows so the crowds are not all in lines like a boring common theme park.
If you’re that scared of catching something. Stay home! It’s that simple! If you want the vaccines, that’s fine, but stop forcing them on everyone else!
No, no. I’m sorry. Those of you who are to selfish to get vaccinated or can’t be bothered to wear a mask are the ones that need to stay home. You’re a selfish prig if you think you aren’t harming others by your refusal to get the vaccine.
I’m an AP who lives in Orange County and was at Epcot last week and the problem isn’t just masks, it’s that visitors will not distance. It’s like they don’t know that 40,000+ people died here of Covid. More than 20,000 people tested positive last week, and the state doesn’t count non-Floridians. I had people trying to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with me. When I asked a person to move away, they told me I didn’t understand that it was the happiest place on earth and why wasn’t I happy to be there. Well – put on your mask and maybe I would be happier. Sheesh!
Man I’m tired of people like u and all the scared. If your vaccinated and want to wear a mask then what are u worried about because we have a flu vaccine and I never heard of the flu being gone forever meaning this virus will never go away weather everyone is vaccinated or not. So please tell me why you’re worried then because vaccinated people can get it and carry it as well which means it will always be around case closed
Disney needs to get their hiring in gear and get more cast members in place to handle the extra venues. But they also need to train their cast members to their pre-covid standards which they apprently are not doing. They also need to figure out a way to incentivise getting old staff back into key supervisory positions. But they won’t as long as they think they can just keep milking the demand. Soon enough the demand level will taper off for them and the lost goodwill of the customer will be gone. The goodwill of their previous employees is already almost done with as it stands and look at the state of their customer service and guest experience now.
SAME COST TO GET IN $$$. FOR FEWER SERVICES.. WHY? SAVING MONEY WITH FEWER CAST MEMBERS ; NO SHOWS, PARADES, FIREWORKS, ETC. RAISED PRICES ON FOOD. JUST A BIG RIP-OFF RIGHT NOW. STAY AWAY. NOT WORTH THE $$$
We have so much technology that can monitor things these days I’m surprised we can’t get an actual count of how many people go through the turnstiles each day. Yes I know Disney has that information and won’t release it publicly. But I’m surprised there isn’t another way to figure it out (a leak, or some other independent way of counting it).
I was in Hollywood Studios this past Saturday. Everytime we were inside out of CM’s site people pulling their masks down. Definitely did not feel safe.
Ha! These people on here talking about feeling safe are just totally to funny! ‘I have to feel safe’ ‘they have a keep me safe’ ‘they are just trying to keep you safe’. Well guess what, the World don’t stop just to keep you safe! Lol 🤭
Kamm give it up already. You’re being selfish expecting people to do what you want to make you feel “safe”. This virus isn’t going anywhere regardless of vaccination rates. Not to mention the vaccines effectiveness against certain variants is lower than initially expected. You’re just going to have to live with it. Quit expecting people to behave how YOU feel they should. There is still so much unknown about this virus, so if you’re that worried about it, don’t go out instead of expecting people make you feel “safe”.
From the photos we have seen…Disney looks anything but fun right now.
I agree with many on here. If you don’t feel safe, don’t go-and that is why we canceled our trip. It was very sad but I cannot see waiting in outrageous lines, in really hot weather, paying a small fortune….having to wear a mask…and potentially catching covid. Honestly, it’s just not worth the hassle. We will wait until things look like they are tolerable or we will go somewhere else, which is okay too. Plus, I can’t see going without Typhoon Lagoon open.
Just because the governors in FL and CA lifted the lockdowns does not in anyway indicate businesses must resume full capacity or full operations. Here in FL the governor lifted all mandates (and masks cannot be enforced) to allow the people to make the decisions and choices best for each individual.
If you don’t feel safe over a piece of cloth then maybe you should not be visiting Disney or any theme Park. No one is responsible to make you feel safe; that is your problem to take of.
A vaccine is NOT a cure all for everyone.
I suggest you all stop listening to the MSM about covid19 because it is about fear and control. There is no outbreak of covid19 in FL; that was made up by the CDC because FL has the best governor, a governor who believes in the constitution and freedoms to choose.
I think all Disney employees should walk out over mandatory vaccines and masks
Pete, you seem very bright and virtuous. So thankful that people like you know what’s selfish and what will get rid of this virus. No doubt you’ve been listening to all the public health “experts” and all their ever changing ideas on what’s best. If I have any questions about my health I’ll be sure to ask you.
“Ever changing ideas” ….. Yes, that’s called science. You see, a new virus or a flu develops that we have never seen and science adapts and changes as they learn more about it.
I’ll trust the “experts” that have dedicated decades of their lives to studying and practicing medicine and science over the politicians and religious nuts.
Hey here’s an idea, when you get cancer you can bypass the hospital because the “so called “experts” don’t know anything. Go straight to your local congressman’s office. He’ll cure you.
Your last two paragraphs are laughable. Disney hasn’t mandated vaccines for workers because our great governor deathsantis had made it ‘illegal’ for a business to make its own decision. This however is being fought in court and within a week or two will be overturned.
No one is “forcing” anyone to get a vaccine. Stop watching Fox news and educate yourself.
While you are at it stop being selfish and dumb. The vaccines are safe and we are NEVER going to end this as long as yu people keep running around with your head in the sand pretending that it is all a hoax.
Think the Pfizer vaccine is only 43% effective against this new variant and still only approved for emergency use by the FDA. Not sure how it’s selfish to have some skepticism and choose not to get the vaccine. You calling people selfish because they don’t think the vaccine is best for their health, gives me the impression that you are the selfish one. How dare you expect people to behave the way you think they should. Good thing you’re not in charge. You sound a little authoritarian.
See my above comment on business and liability for guest safety as well as employees. My thoughts is if you are unvaccinated you shouldn’t be allowed in the parks. The safest way to full capacity. Plus they could fight the ban against vaccine passports and win. Since when did republicans decide to be anti-capitalism?
Disney wouldn’t enforce proof of vaccination because of capitalism. It will hurt their bottom line when they lose guests who are skeptical of what the government tells them and has already flip flopped on health guidance. Not sure what your anti-capitalism comment is referring to. A private business is free to choose whether they want to enforce masks or not. Probably why Disney wouldn’t pick you to decide how to run things with your stance of allowing only vaccinated guests to enter. Even after knowing you can still transmit and catch the virus while vaccinated. Doesn’t sound like a very bright business decision.
So if you knew that a small percentage of people who ride the mattlehorn get tossed out and die would you feel safe jumping in the line for that ride? How can Disney expect anyone to feel safe with that type of risk (Delta) lurking in their parks?
I wonder how much this blog gets paid by Disney because it seems all of the “if you’re scared stay home” and the virus isn’t real comments stay up, but the comments about people that have lost people or got sick mysteriously disappear
Needing Disney to make me feel “safe” isn’t an issue, but please make sure all the restaurants, shows, parades, amenities, fast passes are open/back so the crowds are more spread out and the experience is better.
We visited Disneyland a couple of weeks ago. We made our reservations with the the understanding the park would have limited capacity. We ended up leaving early, only being there for 6 hours as the park seemed to be over capacity as the wait lines were up to 60 to 90 minutes. How could these wait time be this long with limited capacity? We were very disappointed as our grand daughter only got to ride on 4 attractions. Although it is a magical place, I do not feel the visit was worth the money.
I live in Central Florida and the Covid is a bit out of control. I am going to Disney World for a celebration with 6 lady friends. All of us over 70 and ALL OF US VACCINATED. BUT, we are NOT going into the Parks because I believe they are too crowded and controlled distancing has been discontinued. We ALL will wear masks on Disney and Mears transportation as well as indoors or crowded outdoor settings.
I believe Disney is courting disaster if they increase capacity to any more than 75%.
I know Disney employees all need to be vaccinated by Oct.
Disney should require Guests to show proof of vaccination or require unvaccinated Guests to be tested (preferably on-site before they can enter the Parks Entrance lines).
Get the vaccine, don’t get the vaccine. The selfish part of people is the ones who decided to just go where ever without worrying about anyone else, only their own enjoyment. These are the same type of people who would send their kids to school, knowing they were sick, infect the class, and all so they could either go make the mighty dollar, or do their normal routine so not to be bothered with a sick child at home. The selfishness abounds among these types. And many of these types are the ones who are continuing the spread because they don’t want to “give up their freedoms” because it’s infringing on their rights. But also won’t do anything, such as staying out of public places, because it’s their freedom, and to heck with if they spread any of their nasty germs, no matter the type. I’d be shocked if they knew what sanitizer and washing hands actually are. LOL! Basically these types are telling all those who care about their fellow American to screw off.
Bren,
the “entitlement” in this country is out of control. They hide behind everything by screaming “IT”S MA’ RITE!!!”
99% of these dopes wouldn’t recognize the constitution if you handed to them and they were reading it out loud.
Was just there no one is worried about covid everyone was walking around without their masks on. No one seemed to be in a panic like the media want you to believe they are. Life has to get back to normal eventually
Was at disneyworld from July 23 to August 8th 2021. Lines for rides were crazy wait times with no fast pass. Not sure what capacity disney is currently but before increasing it again they better figure out how all these people are going to fit in park and how people are going to ride rides without waiting 2 plus hours each ride. It was crazy busy in parks as alot of people are just walking around instead of waiting in line to ride as they are too long to wait for just 1 ride. We were there when orange county mayor asked businesses to again ask people to mask up when indoors. Disney did a good job for the most part mandating masks at all indoor activities. What didn’t make sense was making people where masks while standing in line outside waiting to ride and wearing it while on outdoor rides. You could walk down main street elbow to elbow with 1000s of people next to you with no distance between or stand on main Street with 8000 or more people standing to watch fireworks crammed together with no masks or distance but you have to mask up to stand in line outside at haunted mansion??? Or tower of terror? This makes no sense. I get they are trying their best but it seems common sense has been lost. Either go back to mandating masks for indoor activities only or mandate masks for the entire park. Making people where a mask while standing in line outdoors but 10 feet away you have 1000s of people walking around park walkways unmasked and no social distances is totally observed. We are annual pass holders from pa and love disney but they are loosing common sense and proving they only care about the all mighty dollar in the end. Bring back fastpass before you have a major crisis on your hands with overcrowding. People are spending a lot of money to visit your parks and deserve to ride rides and enjoy food without waiting hours to do so. Disney you need to get back to making magic happen!!
Disney does not care about their customers safety. We are back at an all-time high covid outbreak to where it’s even worse than before. I myself I am a pass holder and have been for many many years I have not been able to go to Disney since December. They already have too many people going at once they should have brought the capacity down while the second outbreak is around and yes I know many people who have died including family from covid I know many that have been in ICU and I only know two people that have had covid to where it wasn’t that bad and half of these people were vaccinated already too. I myself have six autoimmune diseases and I can’t take a chance so I’m paying all this money to where I can’t even go and then every time I think that maybe I’ll have a chance to go to keep upping the prices and up in the capacity and it’s ridiculous it really is cuz it’s getting to where nobody can afford to go unless you’re rich in the first place but they do not care about their employees health or their customer self at all. And before you say I must be a Democrat or liberal I am not I am an independent I cannot stand Democrats I cannot stand liberals but I have seen what this covid can do to people and how it’s killed people and how it’s tortured people.
I was a top tier ap holder with a family of 3. We wont be buying into their new magic key program until Disney requires full vaccination verification for entry. They could fill the places to the gills for all i care as long as everyone there was vaccine verified.
