The Happy Haunts May Have Taken Over Haunted Mansion’s Wait Time

While visiting Disneyland Park, we noticed that the happy haunts took over the wait time sign as it was showing a 13-minute wait!

Typically, when Guests visit a Disney Park and look at a wait time sign, it shows a rounded-off number, such as 10-minutes, 25-minutes, 60-minutes, and so on. But a fun magical moment that Disney Cast Members create for Guests is when Haunted Mansion, at either Disney World or Disneyland, (or even Tower of Terror at Walt Disney World), is a walk-on.

When Haunted Mansion or Tower of Terror is a walk-on and has little to no wait time, Cast Members post a 13-minute wait to the signs, which, in case you weren’t aware, is typically a “bad luck” number as it actually symbolizes death.

The number 13 fits in perfectly with the ambiance of Haunted Mansion as the ride is filled with 999 happy haunts, hitchhiking ghosts, and of course, the Ghost Host.

Today, August 9, when visiting Disneyland Park, we noticed that the Haunted Mansion only had a 13-minute posted wait, indicating the ride does not have a long line! You can see this reflected in both the screenshot above and the image below. It also just so happens that today is the Haunted Mansion’s 52nd birthday!

The good news is that this isn’t just a one-time occurrence, and both Walt Disney World and Disneyland tend to post a 13-minute wait whenever the attraction has a low wait time! So if you want to see this in person, just keep an eye out for when the theme park is not drawing massive crowds and you, too, may be able to witness the happy haunts take over the wait time sign at Haunted Mansion.

If you have never been on this attraction, the spirited Haunted Mansion adventure is guided by the “disembodied voice of the Ghost Host” as he is your private tour guide “through the cadaverous realm of an eerie haunted estate, home to ghosts, ghouls and supernatural surprises.” Beware of hitchhiking ghosts!

There is a version of Haunted Mansion located at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
