“I’m going to go on the Jurassic World ride because you made me pay for Rise of the Resistance, take that, nyeah! 😛 ”

    …Boy, sure showed them.

  2. Universal is already charging for “Fast pass.” I don’t know what they call it, sorry. Many things set Universal apart from Disney. Disney has regulated us to death. They have made a family vacation regimental. Universal doesn’t have park reservations, and I think they did away with covid restrictions first. Disney is big on overreach (beyond state regulations). Disney also doesn’t inform castmembers about changes. I asked a cast member if my reservation would be automatically changed over to Genie after My Disney Experience ends, and the cast member couldn’t tell me. They don’t know anything about extended evening hours either for deluxe and villa reservations. Another thing for people to get mad about: deluxe and villa reservations having extended hours in the evening. It’s magical if you got the bucks!

Yeah cast members get little to zero info. Back when we closed down in March I learned about it first from guests than my own boss. Good to know customers hear about me losing my job before I do.

My disney experience isn’t ending, genie is integrated into it. That’s why the cast member couldnt answer your question. I don’t understand why people are getting angry about it. I’ve done the maths, a week of genie+ costs the same as 1 day of the same thing at universal. Value for money disney still out does universal by a long shot.

Yes, a week of Disney Genie Plus is about the same as Universal, however, Universal offers it for free to stay on site and the hotels are half the price. I would have to disagree with your value for money statement. A Disney vacation at a deluxe resort would cost my family of 4 $8,000. At Universal it is half the price and has more perks.

Disney Genie Plus will only allow you to reserve *one ride at a time*… So, if the one you reserve happens to fall later in the day, how much value is that $15/$20 per ticket extra going to offer you?

Have you ever used MaxPass or FastPast +? You can literally pick the next ride based on which has the soonest availability at the time? And keep doing it all day.

Wasn’t disneyland already charging for max pass before they closed? I could swear they were.

Stand in line, wait you’re turn!
      Pass is on.

I am staying with Universal Studios. I love UOAP preferred.
No reservations required to enter and they don’t take take guests for granted. Disney thinks it’s a privilege to go there, after 18 plus years it’s my privilege to say bye. I don’t mind paying for good service but Disney Disney has nothing anymore

If you have a Disney package, you have to get the Genie+ for all days. Not worth price for the few rides at Epcot and AK. We go to Disney every year. We’ve decided to do Washington DC next year. Tired of wasting my hard earned money on greedy Disney for less and less value.

    1. Brian Hester

That’s not true. Nobody HAS to buy Genie + for the whole stay. It literally can be a day by day decision while you’re there.

Less value? Galaxy’s Edge and Runaway Railways are still new and they’re getting three major new attractions over the next year.

While I don’t like the idea of the Disney Genie+ it is ridiculous to act like Universal is any less expensive. The parks aren’t anywhere close to as clean as Disney, the employees aren’t as kind/fun, food isn’t nearly as good.. AND their express pass? it’s a JOKE. Went in May and they were charging over $150 per person per day. And that wasnt even the most expensive day, that would’ve been $300 PER PERSON PER DAY. It would’ve cost us what we paid to get in, maybe a bit more just to skip the lines of some rides, they exclude a few of their busiest/newest rides- Hagrids Motorbike, velocicoaster.. can’t remember what else.. but yea.. it’s all a scam. I’ll take Disney any day over universal after my experience earlier this year.

Just got back from Universal. Stayed on site, no paid extras and rode all the rides we wanted with short wait times and Hagrids Motorbike 3x with an awesome, adjustable virtual queue. It was great and much less regimented than Disney. Went to Disney Springs one night for dinner and it was stressful and crowded. Never thought I’d say this, but I am now more inclined to do universal!

Everyone is talking about apps and vaccines with Disney I’ve lived nearby for 35 years and I’m still wondering why everyone ignores the obvious ties between Disney employees and modern slavery? At least 5 employees get caught up weekly in the human trafficking stings usually for sexual crimes against children. Yep it’s a pedo haven and you pay hundreds for them to perv on your kids. If your kids have been to Disney they’re probably on a pedo site but sure app problems are need worthy.

Yeah they treat cast members like garbage and even when I tried to call them out on it they basically taunted “what are you going to do about it?” they have billion dollar lawyers you are up against.

    2. okay thats just stupid

    3. WHO

Can you provide sources for your claim that ¨At least 5 employees get caught up weekly in human trafficking strings?”or do you just need to take your meds? Don´t give me the ¨DO UR Own REseARCh, LaZY!¨ because obviously this information would not be readily available

  9. Toni

Wow, we were planning a family trip for next year. This has made me rethink the Disney trip and now more in favor of a Universal vacation.

    1. Lauren k

With universal you can buy a shirt for $18 as a souvenir rather than a $65 disney shirt! Overall it’s better!

  10. Marc

Genie just sounds like the next evolution of Max Pass. Last time we went to Disneyland we paid for Max Pass and it was well worth it. Still includes all the photo pass photos as well. With the cost now maybe a fast pass will really be a fast pass as well.

    1. Rachel

With the Mas Pass, you can get on any ride that had the fast pass option. You can’t do that with Genie +. You can only go on 2 rides a day.

  11. Justin

But people are fine paying $15-$20 to park there car in a parking lot…

  12. Lauren k

I have only bought tickets to Universal I feel the value is always better. I have been to Disney multiple times but only cause it was free. If I had to pick and pay for one it would be Universal.

  13. Not happy at all as a passholder and wondering how bad the lines will be now. I am paying to go on rides, so now i have to pay more to go on the same rides?
