So they closed Steakhouse 55, arguably the best restaurant at Disneyland Resort, and are opening Steakhouse 71 at Disney World Resort, which already has dozens of restaurants? Well that feels like a slap in the face.
How different can one fancy steak restaurant be from another fancy steak restaurant? And who are all these fans who are so excited to have a new fancy steak restaurant when they haven’t even tried the new place yet?
My family had two amazing meals at The Wave in the past, including an early Christmas Day dinner in 2018. A nice private table that overlooked the dining room, wonderful service, excellent food, AND affordable. I think it was $35 or $38 for adults, $17 for kids for the fixed price meal. Every other restaurant was $55 or $60 for adults. Sure, let’s “reimagine” what they are going to do the the prices once they open this place. It’s a shame Disney is making even a decent sit down meal harder to afford for average families.

All religious references aside, this is purely a profit driven decision although the Wave was a very good restaurant offering more fine dine alternatives without the hefty price tag. Just look at the average price of any steak at Disney let alone at establishment that specializes in them.
Now Disney would bring in a restaurant which aligns more with the profit center akin to California grill. It will of course be a signature restaurant to keep out the “riff raff” dining plan folks which Disney sees as a deep discount and tries to confine to the buffet crowd. I see it from a business perspective but I do not like it. I will miss the Wave in more ways than one.
I’m still upset over losing Steakhouse 55 at Disneyland Hotel. It was a tradition for us for many years. I hope Steakhouse 71 closely resembles Steakhouse 55. It will be many years of wonderful meals and amazing service.
I am one of the people who is excited about Steakhouse 71 coming. I ate at the old steakhouse that was on the main concourse and I miss it. The food was excellent. I could understand in someway why they got rid of the old one because they needed more tables for Chef Mickey’s since they were right next to each other. And then they move the food court that used to be where the wave is. Just because I can understand why they did what they did. It doesn’t mean I didn’t miss that steakhouse. It was originally the Concourse Grill and then the Concourse Grill Steakhouse. Either way whatever the name the food was delicious.

Nice, but didn’t Contemporary already have its own steakhouse on the concourse floor? Or is that gone now?

To create a fake hullabaloo over this restaurant and steer the narrative.

Disney has to have an extremely expensive steak to match the extremely expensive rooms at the Contemporary resort
Greg
The best change they could make would be to make things affordable for the normal person!
