The 25th anniversary was the first time we took our children to Disney and we all LOVED the castle decorations! My daughter still has a castle t-shirt that I bought on that trip (yes it’s old and stained, but she won’t give it up…she just turned 27!) The castle looks very elegant for 50, just as it should! Both were perfect!

I was 9 years old the year we went to Disney World and it was the 25th Anniversary. Absolutely loved the castle cake!

I remember video taping weddings at the Disney Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian 25 years ago. I believe some brides complained that when the couples would stand and face each other to say their vows, the cake castle was in the background. Soon after, a stain glass window of the castle went up to hide the actual castle. :0

When my husband and I saw #25, we didn’t like it at all. A bus driver told us people were calling it the Pepto Bismal Palace. I think #50 looks like it will be elegant and beautiful, just like a fairy tale castle should be.

At least with the cake decorations for the 25th we all knew the castle would return to it’s original beauty. Not sure that will happen with the 50th

  6. It wasn’t a 25th anniversary. It was a 25th birthday. That fact is scattered throughout the article. The writer goes back and forth in writing birthday or anniversary. I was there for the 10th birthday and 15th. My parents went to the 25th birthday with the castle as a birthday cake (not anniversary). I don’t know why Disney changed the language to anniversary. That implies a marriage. The Magic Kingdom and I are celebrating our 50th birthday this year. I was disappointed when I saw them change our birthday to an anniversary. Ask a cast member about this? They say, “I don’t know.”

That was absolutely hidious. I’m so glad they nixed that idea for any other birthdays. They could have worked it into the show back in Mickey’s birthday show and it would have been cute.

As a former Walt Disney Entertainment Cast Member, I was on the 25th Anniversary Castle Cake project. It was an amazing experience to work with such a talented group of creators, producers, and suppliers to transform this iconic structure to celebrate its 25th birthday. I will always remember it with a nostalgic smile.
