Still on the fence about the Christmas After Hours. The only day we can go is on Dec. 4th and I’m sure that will be a higher priced day because it is a Saturday (if it will be offered that day) and we are leaving the next day.
I am a huge Disney fan and LOVE everything about Disney BUT this!
Disney is taking advantage of its Guests,Big deal you get to see fireworks and a parade they have been included in the past without charging these kind of prices. Disney = Scrooge!
The cost for my eleven family members would be over $3K to attend. Plus there are no refunds if canceled. Nope, I’ll keep that money for something else!
$249. Is crazy but then again I don’t care how much Disney would charge there are people crazy enough to pay that much. So Disney can change whatever they want. People will still go. . I can remember when we paid 55 and you got to do a lot. And see a lot not like now.
We arrive Dec 18th and we decided $100+ for our family of 4 for a 4 hour party is ridiculous. We’ll take our entertainment dollars to Universal, Sea World and other Orlando area events.
we were going to upgrade our 3 day hoppers to more days or even annual passes but this was basically our last straw with Disney. After this year’s trip , which is already paid for, we won’t be back.
Exactly! We used to take our four granddaughters every year. It was a fun grandparent/granddaughters outing. We looked forward to going every single year. Disney seems to pricing people out of going. Especially seniors on fixed incomes. I imagine Walt is rolling over in his grave right about now.
I’m sorry Disney…your greed is causing us to not want to visit. We come every 2 years we spend 15000. But now everything that was free now cost a fortune. I mean two fifty to park at my resort. No time to check out Universal and say goodbye. We have wonderful memories but for my family 12000 to stay in the new star wars hotel for 2 nights. No its gotten so you only care about people with money
Come on! Short day for regular guest at full price and over priced for event! Still waiting for pay extra to drive up to each attraction, you know it’s coming.
We have trip after Thanksgiving and were considering it, but after hearing about the mess that Halloween is, we were only going to consider it if it was $100 or less. Otherwise we can put the resources toward something else.
This leads me to wonder what they will charge for Candlelight Processional dinner packages… Here’s to hoping that it happens and is more reasonable than this.
$249 for one after hours night might seem OK for people that have never been, rich people or fools. I remember when it was $10 and they offered a lot more. Have they gotten so greedy! Sad.
Disney, stealthily separating you from your money since 1955.
Living in Florida, WDW is not far from me but no way I could afford their prices now. Have been many times and the first visit was 1974 when car parking was the rip-off price of 50 cents and the ticket book was around 15 dollars.
Soon, the only ones patronizing the parks will be the 1%ers as the working poor and the non-existent middle class can only wish to go.
I might agree prices are insane now, but the same goes for Universal and so many other places. I live in So.Calif so Disneyland is my park. Knott’s is still a great price, but Uni Hollywood is just the same as Disneyland, and even Legoland is about $100 per person on peak days.
However those 1974 prices? I would not consider that a “rip-off”! That was pretty typical for anywhere back then. My first time visiting Disney World was in 1978, staying at both the Contemporary and Poly with a friend at the time, we were about 21 years old and could easily afford it. It was pretty cheap back then, even for the dining package.
$249 is crazy stupid. But Disney has figured out that there are people who will pay it so they will offer it. It doesn’t cost them much more than just staying open, and they charge for it so they can make more money for the day’s operation. Expect to see more of this kind of thing, even for non holiday times.
Would love to go but being on a fixed income, social security, my wife and I can’t afford this and will have to miss it. My wife has multiple health issues and this would mean the world to her but is way out of our reach to afford it. We love Disney and feel they could charge less but people who can afford it will go. This will be real exciting for Disney and we wish them the best. Wish we could go.
That amount is ridiculous. $1000 for 4 of us for 4 hrs. That’s most of a house payment. I think not. Other parks have Christmas parties for far less. Their Starwars Hotel stay is even more insane. $3000+ for two nights for 2 people and that doesn’t even include park entrance. Priced for Musk and Bazos only. Guess we know what clientele they want.
You can not fault Disney. They finally figured out that it’s not what things cost, but how much families are willing to pay. And yeah, post-pandemic families are willing to pay whatever this year, but what about next year? Personally, I think Disney management is pushing people into experimenting with what else they can do with $5K to $15K every other year.
We have gone every year for a decade and I absolutely love the event but our extended family of 14 , it is way too pricey this year. The only thing that’s been added from the very merry is popcorn and sodas etc. I can buy a lot of those for the extra $2000. Will use our budget to buy regular park tickets and still see the beautiful decorations etc.
I think it is okay, with how crowded the parks have become, if they do not do this, people will keep on flocking to the parks, and will continue to get disappointed with how they cannot do much. Basic demand and supply logic.
It’s simple they raised the prices trying to make up for lost money from closing due to pandemic just as now they are the epidemic epicenter and they refuse to close. Not saying I am pro closing down again just stating a fact. It’s all about the bottom line of recovery of money. They could have had some people coming earlier had they not blocked annual pass sales because again they care more about making money on regular tickets or trying to have us buy the Florida resident tickets repeatedly. I love Disney it’s part of why I moved here but they need to do better.
Don’t understand why they keep kissing BLM & lower income minority butts & changing everything when they can’t afford the prices anyway except maybe for a few leaders of the BLM! They are only making changes to avoid image issues and protests outside the front gates I have proudly worked all my life & am considered “upper class” & I’m not throwing my funds away there anymore after this year of already into it for $10,000 !
Absolutely not! We will be down there in December, but this is the first time that we won’t attend (that we’ve been there during Christmas). It’s so disappointing what they are doing. Bob Chapek is ruining Disney for true fans. He can get away with it now, but once the after pandemic surge is gone, he’s going to see a huge drop in attendees.
The prices are high but it will keep the crowds reasonable for an after hours event. The past few years have been less enjoyable because large crowds made it difficult to do and enjoy everything. It still has to be financially worthwhile for Disney to offer. Inflation is high. Disney has to pay suppliers higher prices like the rest of us. Each guest will just have to decide if the value is there for them.
Disney has steadily raised their prices for decades. It is not about the money, but more about crowd control. As a result Disney is becoming a theme park just for the wealthy elite; something Walt Disney did not want. I didn’t like it, but the reservation system is the best idea.
And increased prices did not bring increased experience or inclusion of anything. Cast members treatment of guests, especially to handicapped people, had been going down the tube for a long time now.
And, it’s not Bob Chapek running the show; he’s CEO in name only. Bob Iger is still pulling the strings.
Personally I will never go back as Disney is apart of the covid plandemic. Here in Florida they cannot mandate masks nor vaccines, but Disney does it anyway. I despise corporations like this who think they are above the law.
In Florida they don’t believe in science or keeping people safe. That is why the government of Florida won’t mandate masks and vaccines. But companies can! You are find with people getting sick, dying or being left with disabilities and high hospital costs. You think only of yourself and not the people actually working their or the other people who visit that have health conditions that if they get covid could die. It is all about you and what you want. Selfishness at isn’t finest these days.
Until people stop coming Disney doesn’t care if it prices regular families out of the market. Even the special events I have gone to are overcrowded and just not worth it but Disney is catering to the crowd that will spend $5k for a starswars hotel stay and they will get it, at least for a while.
Yes it’s a Outrageous price. I thought the Halloween events were too much to pay on our last trip in 2018 too. It would be different if the kids got quality candy but they don’t they get the cheapest made no brand candy to give out. The special Halloween merchandise is too much to buy.
I feel the same way with this Holiday event price. When is too much too much?
No way would I pay this price ! Disney is pricing me out. I am coming thanksgiving week only because it’s a trip that was planned before the pandemic but it may be my last
I feel the $249 title is deceptive as not every night is that price just the busiest. Also someone said Disney is pricing itself for the rich. I think Disney is pricing itself as a premium product. The same way broadway shows or top tier concerts charge for what’s usually 2 hours. My hope is that the $249 nights are less busy so the park is more enjoyable.
I guess I just don’t get how they can justify the massive increase. When these events first started, they sold a limited number of tickets. You could literally walk onto most rides and the crowds on the parade route were only two or three deep. Now the limited number has increased who knows to what and now they keep jacking up prices. Can I afford it, sure, but I won’t because somewhere along the line, Disney needs to know that they just can’t keep going up just because they can and people are willing to pay it.
Absolutely not. We paid $621.98 in 2018 for a family of six to attend the Christmas party. There is no reason at all that I would pay almost $1500 to inhale snow flakes on Main Street.
This proves it.Walt and Roy ran a good business of making magic and being “The Happiest place on Earth”usually creating an idea and being a part of it is a success, it’s when you have to leave it in the hands of others they destroy it.
I Live in Lakeland, just 35-45 minutes away depending on traffic. We were all Annual Pass Holders until the prices got so out of hand we could no longer afford to keep them and feed the family and get our Rx’s. Charging $249 for a single event is actually discriminatory towards those of us who cannot afford a $1000 bill for entry alone and add in another $500 just to eat not including gifts or mementos and we wouldn’t be able to eat or get our Rx’s for a month minimum…Sadly we can No longer afford to attend the Happiest Place on Earth even for just a day as it has become a Rich Man’s paradise.
No way can we afford these prices!! We are retired and on a tight budget. Taking our 11 year old granddaughter middle of December for 4 days. Would love for her to experience this event but that would be $750 for the 3 of us and that’s almost what our room at Pop Century is costing us. So sad that Disney is pricing folks like us out of these types of events. Not sure how many more times we will be able to go with constant price increases.
This is 100% Chapek. He’s the one who intriduced us to these high priced after hours & early hours events a few years ago (e.g. the $300 Jungle Cruise Brunch). This price is a joke too, especially since it’s for fireworks and a parade, ummm what we used to get for no addtl charge, before covid. He’s raised the price of merchandise too, grossly increased. Until we stop paying for these ridiculously overpriced events that really deliver nothing, then Chapek will remain at the helm. Because Chapek is hailed on Wall Street for beating revenue & earnings. If we stop drinking the Kool aid, he’ll be shown the door. I miss Iger so much. He’s the only President of Disney who truly embodied Walt’s visions and intentions.
The last time I went to one of these events it was at Disneyland in Oct. 2019 for the Oogi Boogie Halloween Party. I think it cost $85 (as APs I think we got a discount). Now that was worth every penny and they are setting of to do the same this year. (Yes it costs more).
But paying up to $249 for 4 hours – No way! And I agree they are basically getting two admissions from folks on the same day. However as others have said, they will get it!
And is this much different than paying hundreds of dollars for a seat at an NFL game for 4 hours? I wouldn’t do that either!
But we will be getting the new Magic Key annual passes for Disneyland in a few weeks! Now that for us is worth it!
So sad and disappointing I remember our 1st Mnshp ! We were thrilled and couldn’t wait to bring our family back! We had 18 of our family there! All dressed as characters from Peter Pan !! They loved the candy walks!
Then MVMCP was just the best ! The parade with the fabulous toy soldiers! Snow! The snow! The Chtistmas stage show! Special “pins” ! Cookies and hot chocolate ! (granted cheap cookies & diluted cocoa)
But we bought those expensive tickets as a once a year Christmas treat! I think they were $89 in those days!
Now over $200 per person! We will never be able to do it again. The Minnie Mouse outfits will have to stay home!
It’s becoming clear that Walt’s vision of Family Fun and entertainment is fading in the distance and Disney is becoming another Elite experience for the wealthy. It’s the “Haves” vs. the “Have nots” and the “Have nots” are losing Disney.
I’m going in November. But it is a girls trip. So I only have to buy 1 ticket and I have money. I wouldn’t go for my family of four at this price. As a solo ticket? Yup, you bet.
As a Disney Vacation Club member, I love just about everything Disney. I have been there at Christmas time when the kids were younger, it’s wonderful!! But at $250 per person, for just a few hours??? No Way!!
If people do not stop paying these ridiculous prices, ticket prices will always go up. Don’t go to these special events, and they will drop the price period. I will never go back to Disney at the current prices.
Sorry but Disney has lost their collective minds. They have just about priced me out of going at all let alone an E ticket night for $200 bucks. Insane.
I guess Disney feels like they need to make as much as possible after losing money during the pandemic. But even by Disney standards this is highway robbery. I’ve never missed a MVMCP since it was started. But I will miss this because it’s too much for us retired folks.
It costs enough for a daily ticket, why would you pay this crazy amount for just 4 hours? The rich can afford it, but the middle class could not afford it! You can park somewhere and see the fireworks. As much as I have wanted to go at Christmas time this is way out of my price range.
Walt Disney was about making people happy; not just the wealthy. The current CEO has no clue and is destroying the very foundation from which this company was built.
I think I paid $55 for each of my kids back in 2009 for the Christmas after party. Granted, they were in the 3-10 year age category but $249 is a huge jump from that 👀
Disney special events are too expensive. I am taking my grandkids to the Oggy Boogie Bash, but what I’m paying for 2 nights is as much or more than a usual week vacation. The only reason I’m doing it is because we didn’t get our usual 2 week vacation. I hope the prices come down next year so regular people can afford to see this great party. Great but not worth the asking price per ticket.
I’ve even to both the Halloween and Christmas after hours events and they used to cost much less than a single day park entrance not double. The pandemic has hurt many businesses but charging double to make up for revenue lost is ridiculous. There will be those that will say no to the overpriced 4 hour event but there will always be the ones that will say yes even if it’s $300 per person. If people would not buy the tickets then maybe Disney would see how ridiculous it is to charge so much for a 4 hour event. An event that won’t have all the rides open, nor all the restaurants open. I’ve attended and though it is beautiful it’s just 4 hours. Think about how much it’s really costing you. It’s really not worth it.
Well, after feeling as though I was thoroughly robbed by buying a Boo Bash ticket, I have already decided I’m not buying a Christmas ticket,. even though I will be there for two of the scheduled nights. I am also thinking I might not renew my annual pass. If Disney can’t return to free Fast Passes, shows, and daytime parades, I’m not sure the AP is worth it anymore.
We’ve never had to pay extra at Christmas before!! This is absurd. We have always been able to see all of those things without paying extra!! Besides that means that 24 nights during November & December those of us that aren’t willing to fork over more money will have to leave the park early!! RIDICULOUS!!!!! I am a Legacy Passholder and I find this is really insulting.
I would just like to know what is different from the previous one for it to cost this much. They are taking more things away and getting pricy then they are giving. No more fast passes, magical express from airport ending this year. Make it worth while for people wanting to visit.
Yes, $249 is way too much for an after-hours event. And, the Boo Bash, only 3 hours for that price, ridiculous! I’ve been to the NSSHP and the VMCP, enjoyed them both, but it was at least more inclusive, not a teaser event. I hope Disney is not going to continue to outprice these parties. Sad
Although I can afford it, it is definitely not a good use of resources.
I will spend the dollars on the annual pass as I have done in the past.
Definitely a money grab, understand it’s a business but come on…
We have attended this event in the past but will NOT this Christmas year. We go to Walt Disney World every year during the Holidays and stay at a deluxe resort but it seems every year Disney gets greedier. I remember when resort parking was free now you have to pay for each day you stay. No more free Magic Bands now you have to pay for them and I could keep going and going. This $249.00 is way out of reach for the average family and when you have seven family members well add it up Disney. Very very disappointed.
Ridiculous!!! No way even if i could afford it. Disney has cut out any but the rich and if they continue to pay the middle and lower income families will never be able to attend Disney. I own a DVC and plan on selling as Disney has changed my feelings on anything to do with the park. Walt would be horrified by their treatment of families in this economy.

Carolyn

Kaitlin
I’m going in November. But it is a girls trip. So I only have to buy 1 ticket and I have money. I wouldn’t go for my family of four at this price. As a solo ticket? Yup, you bet.

Well the CEO needs another bonus and the share holders needs bigger dividends !! Walt must be rolling over in his grave.
Tom McGrew
As a Disney Vacation Club member, I love just about everything Disney. I have been there at Christmas time when the kids were younger, it’s wonderful!! But at $250 per person, for just a few hours??? No Way!!
Mike
If people do not stop paying these ridiculous prices, ticket prices will always go up. Don’t go to these special events, and they will drop the price period. I will never go back to Disney at the current prices.
Rachel Winiecki
Sorry but Disney has lost their collective minds. They have just about priced me out of going at all let alone an E ticket night for $200 bucks. Insane.
Cindy
Sorry that’s too much money to pay! Disney Greed at its very best!
Margaret Locken
I guess Disney feels like they need to make as much as possible after losing money during the pandemic. But even by Disney standards this is highway robbery. I’ve never missed a MVMCP since it was started. But I will miss this because it’s too much for us retired folks.
Gina A
It costs enough for a daily ticket, why would you pay this crazy amount for just 4 hours? The rich can afford it, but the middle class could not afford it! You can park somewhere and see the fireworks. As much as I have wanted to go at Christmas time this is way out of my price range.
Emma
Walt Disney was about making people happy; not just the wealthy. The current CEO has no clue and is destroying the very foundation from which this company was built.
Mel
I think I paid $55 for each of my kids back in 2009 for the Christmas after party. Granted, they were in the 3-10 year age category but $249 is a huge jump from that 👀
Terry

Cindy Leslie-Forbes
We’ve never had to pay extra at Christmas before!! This is absurd. We have always been able to see all of those things without paying extra!! Besides that means that 24 nights during November & December those of us that aren’t willing to fork over more money will have to leave the park early!! RIDICULOUS!!!!! I am a Legacy Passholder and I find this is really insulting.
Mary
I’m not rich enough. Are you listening to us Disney execs? You are shutting out the middle class.
Weezie
I would just like to know what is different from the previous one for it to cost this much. They are taking more things away and getting pricy then they are giving. No more fast passes, magical express from airport ending this year. Make it worth while for people wanting to visit.
Ilona Kane
Yes, $249 is way too much for an after-hours event. And, the Boo Bash, only 3 hours for that price, ridiculous! I’ve been to the NSSHP and the VMCP, enjoyed them both, but it was at least more inclusive, not a teaser event. I hope Disney is not going to continue to outprice these parties. Sad
ROBERT MCMULLEN
Although I can afford it, it is definitely not a good use of resources.
I will spend the dollars on the annual pass as I have done in the past.
Definitely a money grab, understand it’s a business but come on…
David
We have attended this event in the past but will NOT this Christmas year. We go to Walt Disney World every year during the Holidays and stay at a deluxe resort but it seems every year Disney gets greedier. I remember when resort parking was free now you have to pay for each day you stay. No more free Magic Bands now you have to pay for them and I could keep going and going. This $249.00 is way out of reach for the average family and when you have seven family members well add it up Disney. Very very disappointed.
Joanne
As long as they dont sell out.I will be on to order them this morning at 7am. But Im going the first week when they are cheaper
susan vanness
Ridiculous!!! No way even if i could afford it. Disney has cut out any but the rich and if they continue to pay the middle and lower income families will never be able to attend Disney. I own a DVC and plan on selling as Disney has changed my feelings on anything to do with the park. Walt would be horrified by their treatment of families in this economy.
Val
I think I’m missing something here…does this party include a dj, o doeuvres, and an open bar?! The prices and time frame tell me heck yes.
