Just over a month after Universal Orlando Resort opened its newest attraction, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, the ride has already hit a huge milestone.
Now, it seems that there is another cause for celebration! Universal Orlando Resort (@UniversalORL) recently Tweeted that as of today, VelociCoaster has hit 1,000,000 riders!

Considering that there is always a wait for the attraction, and Guests who ride it cannot stop talking about it after exiting, it is not surprising to know that the coaster could achieve this number so quickly. It should also be noted that although the coaster opened on June 10, Guests were riding the Jurassic coaster as early as May due to Universal Passholder previews which followed a soft opening that allowed Guests to ride the attraction for weeks before officially opening.
That being said, having 1,000,000 riders experience such a fun attraction is a huge accomplishment for Universal and the VelociCoaster team, especially considering how almost every Guest who rides the attraction loves it.
This ride is imagined to take place shortly before the events of the first Jurassic World film when Claire Dearing, resort operations manager of Jurassic World, was challenged to add “more teeth” to the park. Claire has already green-lit development for the Indominus rex, but it seems there’s been a hiccup and that exhibit is being slightly delayed. With the Velociraptors showing signs of intelligence and responding to Owen Grady’s command, Claire has designed a new ride. It seems it would be a great idea to construct a roller coaster right in the middle of a Raptor paddock. Right?

Now, it is official that 1,000,000 people have experienced the fastest launch coaster in Florida, along with the four-inversions, giant top hat, dive-lo0p, and the now coined “mosasaurus roll” over the lagoon.
