Got off pirates in the middle of the ride after it stopped on us in March of 2019. We only waited on the ride for 10 min before they came and got us, it was neat to see with the lights on and I was able to get a ton of photos with the lights on while waiting and walking off the ride. It was a neat experience.
Had the exact same experience on It’s A Small World being stuck for an hour. They turned the sound off after about 20 minutes but with all the dolls still moving and clicking it felt like an episode of “The Twilight Zone”.
Probably how Disney’s CoronaVirus (called CoviD23) started! Someone drank some of the pirates waters or water from the grossly colored waters of America
I havnt personally been evacuated off of a ride, BUT when I was on splash mountain many years ago a woman got so frightened in the car in front of us that before we went down the first smaller drop that’s in the dark within the mountain she jumped out of the boat and into one of the side animatronics. Obviously that sounded a silent alarm of some kind and the ride was fairly quickly stopped and eventually a cast member came and got her and took her out an emergency exit
Got stuck at the end of Space Mountain one time. Lights came on and had to be evacuated. I was amazed. Every weld had the inspectors initials, and a hidden Mickey head drawn next to it.

Got stuck on the very first hill of runaway train. 6 yr old nephew had to pee after about 20min, that was fun since someone was nice enough to leave an empty bottle on the floor. We ended up having to be helped off the ride and given fast pass.
Awhile ago while we were on Bob sleds Matterhorn it stopped right when the fireworks were going off outside We got pushed down the ride the rest of the way could see the fireworks going off didnt get another ride
Our 1st time on Rise of the Resistance in May it broke down. We were escorted through the cast member entrance, which just made it a fun and different experience. We were able to enjoy the full ride later that day!
I have been evacuated twice, and it happened on the same day. I was at Disney California Adventure park and went to ride Toy Story Mania with my Fastpass. Just before we boarded the attraction the ride broke down and we had to be evacuated from the queue. They gave me a Fastpass to come back when the ride was open. I was watching the Disney app and about 3 hrs later the ride reopened so I went to redeem my Fastpass. Then about 2/3 of the way through the ride it stopped and the lights came on. Cast came by the get everyone off safely. Before we left backstage they gave everyone a single use Fastpass for any Attraction at either park and an ice cream sandwich! It was overall a cool experience and an added bonus of being able to skip the line for Peter Pan’s flight which usually didn’t have a Fastpass line.
We were evacuated from Pinocchio’s Daring Journey at Disneyland. Lights came on and escorted out by staff, had to walk through a couple rooms and step over floor rails the cars followed for the rides, etc. Pretty neat experience to see it that way.
I was on Space Mountain. Lights came on, ride stopped. I can’t believe how small it is and how close the tracks are
Together! We got off the ride in the middle of the mountain and we’re escorted out?
The fact that it’s happened twice on the Pirates ride really makes me want to lean in and say that it’s part of the karma for firing Johnny Depp after he got abused. It’s not all the karma, but it’s a little dose of it maybe
Seems like Disney is to concerned about 50th decorating and new construction more than maintaining the wonderful attractions they already have. Greed is only good to certain level and then it becomes an Evil bound to destroy.
Wasn’t this attraction completely refurbed a couple of years ago? Why is it malfunctioning so much recently? Along with several other attractions throughout WDW?
Got stuck on Space Mountain going up the ramp last week at Disneyland. Turned on the lights. Walked through “employees only”. Saw their break room & all. Pretty cool.
It was NOT closed all day. I was there yesterday (7/10) and rode Pirates twice! Stuff happens!
If I have to be stuck somewhere, that’s where I’d want to be!
Many years ago when they still had the canoes you could go on to get to Tom Sawyers Island, our canoe tipped sideways and dumped over half of us out! The water was so filthy and oily. the the staff made sure those of us who were wet, got to use the employees showers then we got to go get new Disney sweats from the gift store! A nice free lunch too! IThey went over and above to make sure we were taken care of!
Way back when; after Pirates Of the Carribean had just opened; my dad took the family (Parents; 2 Kids & Grandmother) to Disneyland. After a long wait; we were finally on the ride. It stopped right at the burning jail/dog scene. Somebody had thrown a popcorn container & it was stuck on track…we waited for an hour ; to sound of contact whistling; whimpering & fire crackling; finally rescued; we were lead thru the behind the scenes tunnels. I remember the low lights coming on & finding the water was very shallow; not the deep abessys an 8 yr old imagined. crew was very nice as they lead us thru. Very fun memory (except the constant whistling) I am 63; family stills talks about
In October 2019 we were stuck just outside the scene where pirates are dunking Carlos in the Well. For 30 minutes we were ” entertained” with ” Don’t tell them, Carlos! DON’T be chicken!”
You’re on some bull…Disney World was closed for about 4 months…as far as the AP Program…hope they severely restrict it. AP holders are the biggest parasites in the Disney universe…good riddance
1978 WDW Space Mountain got stopped at the top of the hill. All the lights came on but the other cars continued to run. I figured we were going to have to get off the ride and walk down the stairs. Suddenly two WDW Security Guards approached and the said, “Ok who stood up in their seats!” Complete silence fell over the train and then the ride continued. When we got to the end, there were two young gents escorted to the security office.! 🙂
We had to evacuate the Harry Potter ride in 2011. I don’t remember how long we sat before they got us off, but it was fun to see it with the lights on.
I think if I remember correctly, I was escorted once off of the haunted mansion during its nightmare before Christmas holiday makeover….
I did, however, get the chance to ride Space Mountain with all of the lights turned on! Of course I was a Cast Member at Disneyland at the time and it was during a special cast members only event… and to be honest, it’s much scarier with the lights on!
Through college, my husband worked at Club 33. Just before the grand opening of Splash Mountain at Disneyland, they let cast members try it out. Well, we did and half way up the steepest incline before the big drop, the ride stopped and the lights turned on. I looked at my husband and thought, how the heck are we gonna climb out of this? We were practically parallel with the deck they wanted us to exit onto! We did it! But it was more like rolling out…Idk if I could do it now!!
That’s cool! I used to clean club 33s bathroom hehe. Cramped bathroom but I always liked how cool it looked in there, the chain hanging you pull to flush toilet so fancy lol
In August 2019, we had a string of rides break down on us. The biggest one was Pirates. Right when you get to Carlos getting dunked in the well, our boats came to a stop. We were stuck about an hour while they tried different things to get it to work. They evacuated us off the ride and took us on quite the backstage tour to get us out, including through the kitchen with carts of bread bowls and out a back park lot. We received a Fast Pass to ride anything. The next day, we were evacuated off of the train as it broke an axle. We were over Star Wars Land/Frontierland area, and had to walk along the train over a bridge and down the side.
We were stopped about 3/4 of the way through Mr. Toad’s at Disneyland. A child decided to enter the car from the wrong side and tripped the alarm. I snapped a few pics, and was told by the cast member that it wasn’t allowed. She led us and a few others through the end of the ride back to the front. No apology, no fast pass, and no Disney cheerfulness.
6 years ago got trapped on Sorin. Two hours before they could bring us down. They had donuts, sweet rolls, muffins and orange juice and water bottles waiting for us. They cleared the bathroom nearest the ride so quick runs could be made. Very nice. The 5 year old nephew I had with me had a pee accident but Disney Cast were so nice to him. They gave everyone an automatic fast pass for the rest of the day spent at Epcot. You won’t that kind of treatment now that Bob arrived 5 years ago.
In 2000, my family was stuck on Pirates. We were the last boat to be evacuated.
It was fun to watch the “rescue” process. Then a little walk in the back stage area.
The guy coming out in the waders was very professional!
My family was passholders for many years in the 90s, and I cannot remember a single time that we were evacuated. It hasn’t happened to me as an adult either. I secretly want it to happen once so I can walk though the back of a ride, or see a dark ride with the lights on.
The closest we came was during a ride on the Haunted Mansion. We were stuck in the graveyard scene by the Viking opera singer for what felt like forever. I think it was closer to 30 minutes though lol.
Comments for Pirates Attraction Facing Serious Issues as Guests Get Evacuated Again

Yes, hasn’t everyone? They had to call in the fire department though to help evacuate us because they couldn’t get the boats to move.
SB
Got stuck on Small World for an hour. We were screaming until they shut off the music. Eventually they pulled the boats to an exit door

Around 1988 this big tall guy got in the boat and the boat tipped over and everyone fell out the boat. We all got soaked.

I once drank the water from the ride.

YOUR NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THAT!! ????♀️ that’s how you can get sick! That’s gross! ?

I was on this ride today 7/10/2021 with no issues. It was closed earlier in the day though.

That’s what happens when you remove Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.

I came here to say this exact thing. It’s like Disney and Warner Bros. are suffering some serious karma these days. Wonder why 🙂

Yes! Yes! Yes!!!!! I was thinking that EXACT SAME THING! BRING BACK JOHNNY DEPP!

I agree, its bad Karma. Johnny is the only Captain Jack…

Yes. Twice.
Toy Story Mania and Rise of the Resistance- and the first order cast members never broke character as they led us off the ride.

We were there July 7th, 2021. We waited about 30 minutes for Under the Sea when the fire alarms went off and we had to leave.

The 2 rides I have been evacuated from was Thunder Mountain and Carousel of Progress.
