It may be hard to believe, but spooky season is almost upon us! In preparation for Halloween, both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood are hard at work setting up for their harrowing Halloween Horror Nights. Universal Orlando will be celebrating its 30th Halloween Horror Nights this year, so you can expect things at the Florida theme park to be extra scary!
On July 15, two new experiences were announced for Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. Universal Orlando will add two new haunted houses to its Halloween Horror Nights — The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Bride of Frankenstein Lives. Universal Studios Hollywood is also adding those themes to its Halloween Horror Nights, but instead of being called Haunted Houses, the Universal Hollywood ones are considered terrifying mazes.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre experience will bring Guests straight into the Sawyer house, where they will get up close and personal with Leatherface and his murderous family of butchers. Prepare to run for your lives as you try to avoid meat cleavers, meat hooks, and the always unstoppable chainsaw.
Here is the official description from the Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights website:
You’ve seen the 1974 horror classic. Now It’s your turn to experience it for yourself. Enter the dilapidated Sawyer house and meet Leatherface and his demented family of merciless butchers. Will you make it out in one piece? Or in pieces?
- Step right inside the story experiencing every nightmarish moment for yourself.
- Explore every familiar room of the Sawyer home, from the parlor to the blood-splattered kitchen.
- You’ll face carving knives. Meat cleavers. Meat hooks. And of course, that roaring, slicing, flesh-ripping chainsaw.
The second new haunt will be The Bride of Frankenstein Lives, which will put Guests in the path of the murderous bride as she tries to bring Frankenstein’s monster back to life, and she is willing to do whatever it takes. She needs body parts, and if you aren’t careful, you could find yourself in her gruesome grip.
Here are some more details via Universal Orlando:
This time, the Bride of Frankenstein is stepping out of the shadows and taking her fate into her own bloody hands. The mate will have her monster. And the monster his mate.
- Enter the tower ruins where Frankenstein’s monster pulled the lever to bring down the walls and destroy him and his Bride.
- Recoil in horror as she tries to bring him back at any cost, honing her diabolical genius one harvested body part at a time.
- Don’t get caught between her and the Brides of Dracula, who she captures and drains in hopes of reanimating her love.
Universal Studios Hollywood will also have a Haunting of Hill House maze, plus one more maze that has yet to be announced. In addition to The Haunting of Hill House, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Bride of Frankenstein Lives, Universal Studios Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights will also have a Beetlejuice haunted house, as well as six more houses that they have not yet announced!
Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights will run from September 3 until October 31. Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights will be slightly shorter and run from September 9 until October 31.
While Guests can now purchase tickets for Universal Orlando Resort’s Halloween Horror Nights, tickets for Universal Hollywood’s Horror Nights have not yet gone on sale.
