No breakdown, but a very fun moment on the Monsters Inc ride at Disneyland. At the end of the ride while we were waiting fire the cars in front of us to unload we were stopped in front of an animatronic of Roz. Me, being the smart ass that I am, said, in Roz’s voice, “I’m watching you.” Much to our surprise the animatronic turned toward us and replied, “You. In the back seat. Not funny.”
Just goes to show what lengths Disney will go to to enhance your experience.
When I was at Disney world in Feb, the Jungle Cruise sank. Just missed being on the one that sank. Would have given almost anything to have that story.
When I was young, the Matterhorn broke down while we were near the top. We had to evacuate through the mountain on foot. I remember being pretty scared by the abominable snowman, but the cast members were very professional about it. It’s been so long, I can’t remember fine details, but I vividly remember walking past a maintenance area with a bunch of hand-drawn Plutos, like an employee was practicing or something. Super neat seeing the “guts.”
A few summers ago we were at Epcot and were riding Spaceship Earth. About halfway up, the ride breaks down and we had to be evacuated via stairs along the side.
We were on my son’s ‘Wish Trip’ back in 2005 and even though we weren’t at Disney (actually at Universal Studios Islands Of Adventure) we had to evacuate Dudley DoRight’s Ripsaw Falls, cause some kid decided that he didn’t want to ride it and instead of just raising your hand like they say to do so they can just stop the ride ger you off safely, he decides to jump off while it’s in motion and they hit the emergency shutdown, the ride stops and all the water recedes back into the tanks. It takes 45 minutes to reset. So he basically ruined the ride for about 45 or so people. Can we say STUPID MOVE KIDDO. And I’m sure he got the scolding of his life that day by both his parents and the staff who was running the ride.
In 2018 my wife and I were on a very rough Indiana Jones ride (every handful of seconds it would stop and we’d have to sit there and get to look around). Eventually it got so bad that right before the big boulder scene we got stopped for several minutes and they turned on the lights. Got to see the track that the boulder lives on and the maintenance room behind it, all while an animatronic Harrison Ford hung on for dear life above us for like 10 minutes. Eventually they got everything back on track so we didn’t get to evacuate behind the scenes but it’s still one of my best Disney experiences.
Was just on this ride 2 days ago and got stuck for like 25 minutes all boats got stuck on top of each other and super backed up they kept saying it was going to start soon but it took forever
Kelly Coffey if you wrote this it is a hot mess.
1) How often are you going to mention that it is a dark ride?”
2) It took you four paragraphs to get to the meat of the story.
3) We don’t care what a tik Tok video was titled.
4) You never told us why the ride went down which is the important part of the story.
5) We don’t care how Disney describes their ride.
Who, What, Where, When, Why. Get to the point. The story should be told in the first two paragraphs. After that you can fluff it up all you want but get the story out of the way.
Got evacuated off the people mover last week. We got walk behind the toy story ride in tomorrow land on the way out. Before evacuation we sat for 40 min but at least our kiddo got to keep riding the cars over and over again and we had a view of the track!
Rides go down for whatever reason all the time then they start up again.?♀️ Unless there was a fire,a sinkhole opened up under it,etc. I’m really not seeing the big deal.
My daughter and I were evacuated off Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland one time in 2007. We were stuck for over an hour and it was hot! They did turn on the lights and then they escorted each boatload off and gave us a first call ticket to ride it the rest of the time we were there. That meant once they had it up and running we got to the first of the line any time we wanted to ride it for the duration of our visit. They also gave us first call tickets for every major ride during that trip, but good for only 1 time. Different than a fast pqss that gives you a time slot; these were whatever we wanted we got front of the line for all major rides that visit and pirates as many times first in line as we wanted. They had us go to Main St for customer service and they gave us actual tickets to each ride for first in line place. It was one of our best trips since we virtually never waited in line for any of the big rides. They really do go out of their way to fix a bad issue. Very impressive.
Yes, we were evacuated off of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride as well. We were stuck right before the waterfall and it took them quite some time to make sure that they secured the boat to wear it wouldn’t move and continue to plummet while we were trying to get off! All I can say is that it’s better with the lights off. Sooooo dusty!
Evacuated from Winnie the Pooh in May. Our car was stuck in a doorway and three maintenance workers had to come push our car thru the doorway. The ride workers then came car by car and manually cranked open your door. Climbed off via a step stool then walked to the next car. They told the little kids it was a parade. Gave us a fast pass for the inconvenience….I do feel they could have done more then one fast pass.
My family was on Space Mountain when the ride broke down. We sat there for about 5 minutes then were evacuated. We had to walk down stairs because we were at a high spot. My kids were scared because we were so high up. But it was so cool seeing the ride with lights on!!
My daughter and I were evacuated off of Rise of the Resistance. We waited all day also had to reserve our tickets for that ride in advance and then it broke down on us halfway through. Since it was late close to park closing we were unable to ride it at a later time. At least we got halfway through the experience lol. They did offer free fast passes but was so far to walk to get to where we wanted to go. Earlier that morning Space Mountain broke down while waiting for almost an hour then the wait was an extra half hour then it finally continued.
We were just at Disneyland June 23, 2021 and got stuck on Pirates for a good 20 minutes. They kept saying it would be back up and running soon multiple times at one point the lady on speaker said “Hopefully” will be running soon!! Lol Some workers came out to check on us to make sure we didn’t get out of boats. No lights were turned on and we did eventually start moving again but we were stuck at the part where the auction is and same song was playing over and over again to the point the ride became a little displeasing and lost a little magic.
This happened to us a few years ago. Turned off music and turned on lights. About 30 minutes. Started again then stuck where the fire is. They then had to evacuate us. It was late and we did get a pass for the next day but we weren’t coming back. Did get good shots of the castle with no people because at that time the park was closed.
Many years ago at Disneyland with my 6 or 7 year old granddaughter, Splash Mountain broke just before we went over the drop.
You haven’t lived until you are stuck over an hour right by the tied up rabbit yelling
“You can do anything you want but don’t leave me in the briar patch!” The wolf saying “ Then I’ll roast ya!” Over and over again!
They finally dropped us over the hill where we came to a stop behind the rest of the logs. We were walked thru the sets and out to the backstage area where my granddaughter looked around and said “Where are we? This doesn’t look like Disneyland!”
The gave us front line passes to come back later.
I did some stuff once. Then some other stuff happened. Then some more stuff happened. Then it was done.
This is as interesting as anything you other drones wrote, including this . Ponder that next time you feel the need the express yourself.
We were evacuated from the very top of Frozen. The boat came to a stop just before the hairpin turn to go down the waterfall. It took almost an hour to get us off because they had to drain the water first and then “Bridge” the gap between the boat and the walkway. All the lights were on and sound was off. We were told when they took us outside thru the door and down the back stairs we were not allowed to take any pictures.

We had to evacuate Indiana Jones years ago. That ride definitely loses its “magic” with the lights on!!

They really need to change the huge back up of boats. It’s happened year after year. You’d think by now…..

It is against Disney policy to take any pictures or video of a back stage area, or of show scenes with the lights on. This shouldn’t be encouraged

I know right? Doesn’t anyone go to college for journalism anymore?

Disney still requires masks. They’re using every other boat. They aren’t packing people in this tightly. This video is old.

Not anymore! I work at Pirates and we are back to full ride capacity

Space mountain is quite cool with lights on also, had a break down there one time.

Space mountain. It looks so small with the lights on. Also makes you want to keep your arms down the next time. Lol
