Staying in Poly DVC right now and it has been a nightmare! We were told the work on regular rooms would not interfere with our vacation. Banging and sawing all hours either 8 am or after 11 pm has been ridiculous! We complained twice and were told work should only be from 9 to 5 and after that would only be at the entrance, but the room refurbishing were behind for the announced opening date. They did stop 1 night when we called after being woken up, but how many times should we have to call? Them being behind should not be my problem! Also, tried to get a drink at Tambu lounge and the entire upstairs area was packed. After waiting in line over 20 minutes to get into the bar (& not getting in yet) we left. We were told there was a soft opening of ‘Ohana for castmembers. So castmembers overtook the restaurant and bar instead of letting paying DVC guests enjoy their vacation with what was open to them.
Castmembers eating at ohana could have been told to order drinks inside with dinner at least! And don’t forget the castmembers who were displaced from their normal jobs now working resort jobs until theirs become available again- food, stores, etc. who know nothing about the resort job.
It may be ok for low crowds, but when the full resort opens?
Sure, the cash rooms will look nice but what about those who are currently paying to stay there through DVC dues?? And when will the DVC rooms get some love? They are currently starting the “soft” refurbishing because we heard them banging down the hall early one morning and smelled strong chemicals and when we walked out we saw them working on a DVC room and carrying in new mattresses- but how about the hallway carpets in the bldg which are dirty and threads coming out and the safes in the rooms (ours needed service twice), and cabinets and other woodwork? We couldn’t even open 1 of the bathroom doors when we first walked in and it was all scratched – which was another service call. I think the entire resort should have stayed closed and been taken care of all at once instead of saying they want DVC members to be able to “enjoy” a vacation but really just want their money and treat them like low class citizens! Won’t be back hear for a long time!
I’m sorry to hear you stay was bad. I was considering joining DVC for the poly but after hearing what you went through I’m not sure now. What a shame since it is not cheap! We are booked there for mid August & now I’m told that the monorail will not be stopping there! How long does it take to walk to the other platforms to get on the monorail? Is it worth it?
Comments for Staying at the Reopened Polynesian Resort? What You Need to Know
beautiful gorgeous
I wonder when the monorail station will be open again, and when will the characters be coming to Ohana again?
