When Guest are planning a trip to Disney, there is a lot that can go into a day. From planning your theme park day to the attractions, you want to ride, ensuring you have everything you want to do ready to go is important for many.
One of the biggest things Guests often have to decide on is what food to eat. There are so many food options at Disney World, with Resorts, theme parks, and Disney Springs all housing hundreds of food locations; deciding where to eat may be your most difficult decision yet!
Any dining location on Disney World property that involves Guests sitting in to eat will have an Advanced Dining Reservation option on the My Disney Experience app. Many restaurant locations on Disney property end up not being available for walk-ins, as reservations often fill all slots. When there is a walk-in reservation available, Guests may have to wait hours until their table is ready.
To avoid this, making a dining reservation on the My Disney Experience app is always your best bet. The only thing to note is that if you have a reservation that you want to cancel, you must do so 24 hours prior, or else you will incur a fee of $10.00 per person. If you attempt to cancel within 24 hours, you will notice that the app does not let you and provides a number you can call to cancel. It also notes that you may still be charged even if you cancel, as it is within their chargeable period.
Aside from possibly being charged, the reservation line at Disney World had a two-hour wait the last time I called and often has a high call volume which could take up a lot of your time.
However, there is a way around having to call, and it ensures you will not be charged a fee! When looking at your dining reservation on your My Disney Experience app that you want to cancel, click “Modify”. Then, select any other date and time available in the future. Once you swap to a new date, you can go ahead and cancel, as you are no longer in the 24-hour period.
This trick can help save you a lot of money, depending on your party size, and will allow your party to have flexibility during your visit if needed.
