I don’t really agree with this explanation for one BIG reason. Finn. While it wasn’t explicitly said it was heavily implied he is also force sensitive, also grown. Either adults are able to learn how to use the force (but it is probably much harder to change their set ways and mindsets at a later age and thus harder to train) or we are slapping the Finn character in the face AGAIN by implying he is also strong in the force yet somehow overlooked during the entire trilogy?
These kinds of articles are getting a bit ridiculous (both on here and on ScreenRant). The reason why they are not trained at older ages has long been known (they, and even the author of this article, literally stated it… the older they are the more likely they are to have formed dangerous bonds/attachments and the more difficult it is for them to control their own emotions, all which could lead to the dark side).
Diminishing of ones connection to the force from lack of use isn’t really a cause of the rule, more of an added note by Filoni and Favreau. And I think it is safe to say, based on all the movies and the shows, that the connection is not ‘truly Lost,’ just diminished and can be rebuilt. The vast majority of all the major Jedi we have been following as our leads started out older than the average acceptance age and untrained. It would be best to compare this instead to muscles. If you don’t use it, you lose it. But doesn’t mean those biceps are gone forever, all you have to do is get back into the gym to get them back.
Also… kind of left out one of the most important and original ‘exception’ to this rule. Luke wasn’t trained and had no clue of his abilities until he join Obi-Wan and fled Tatooine, and with the exception of Obi-wan and Yoda as mentors, Luke was the first Jedi any of us were really introduced too.
I see this online a lot – those people in the tubes were stormtrooper volunteers injected with the Grogu blood samples…more in line with “The Reborn” from Jedi Outcast which is where the Dark Troopers storyline came from…the doctor even says it the dialogue. Why does everyone think it’s Snoke?
There is no plot hole here. They weren’t trained young because not getting trained would lead to losing the Force, it was because of attachments that would happen if left too long like Anakin’s mother. Not using the Force would probably lead to a complete disconnect from it like Luke, Leia, Kyle Katarn, and Cal Kestis.
Yet another piece of evidence that Favreau, Filoni, and the authors of these articles have no idea what the term “plot hole” actually means, and enjoy creating fan drama by pretending Story problems exist where they actually don’t.
