On May 18, 2021, Universal Studios Orlando announced that its newest area — DreamWorks Destination — would be ready to open this spring. The area is set to replace the 25-year-old “A Day in the Park With Barney”. The DreamWorks Destination area will be located in the KidZone, near the long-running E.T. attraction.

Universal Orlando Resort’s newest area will be located inside Universal Studios Park. Universal spoke about what Guests can expect when they visit the new area, saying:
“DreamWorks Destination will be a first-of-its-kind character experience where guests can interact with multiple beloved characters from DreamWorks Animation’s hit film franchises, Trolls, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and more – all in one festive location,” Universal officials said in a news release. “Catchy tunes from various DreamWorks movies will fill the air as guests enter a bright, colorful party atmosphere – all set against a nighttime sky inspired by the animation studio’s iconic opening sequence from its films.”

While Universal Orlando did not give a specific opening date for DreamWorks Destination, they have now opened the area for technical rehearsals! Twitter user Theme Park Shark shared the exciting news.

Guests who would like to visit the Universal Orlando DreamWorks Destination must remember that the new area is under technical rehearsal, therefore operating times are not guaranteed. It is also not guaranteed that you will have access to all available character interactions and dance parties.

Guests who are not able to visit DreamWorks Destination can still get their DreamWorks fill while at the theme park. DreamWorks’ characters — such as the Trolls and Donkey from Shrek — can still be found throughout the park. Guests can also ride Shrek 4D, which is open daily.
