My DVC friend swears it makes lines worse because of the constant stoppage of standby lines. I say they should implement the Express max pass that Universal has where there’s no assigned time windows and the separated line might funnel them into separate cars. We found that when we used it, not only did those pass holders not clump up, the standby line wasn’t terribly affected. Or maybe yet, Disney shouldn’t have such a capacity that some rides always exact a 2-4 hour wait! Them simply saying you can have that capacity doesn’t mean it’s feasible. Who wants to spend that much and not get a complete experience?

    1. Indy

It absolutely makes lines worse and you spend more time in line, not less. Assume half of a rides capacity is reserved for FP(it’s actually more). That means the standby line wait time has doubled. So if you use 2 FP(let’s assume a 10 min wait) and stand in one standby line your time in queue is actually 20 mins longer than if FP did not exist. Think about that for a while and remember that in actuality FP reserves more than 50% so it’s gonna take 3 FP for every standby line just to break even.

Nothing makes as much sense as being able to plan the details of the rides you want to experience long before you hit the park. No frustration with long waits or mismanaged meals. Fast passes make every park day go more smoothly. Bring them back, and let the “disorganized and arbitrary” by choice wait in their line complaining about their own foolish choice to “wing it”.

        1. RC

          100% agree! Bring back FP+

        2. Krisyen

A few people have also said they have seen what looks like fast pass kiosks again at Epcot under sheets…curious!?

        3. I agree. I wish they would also bring back magicbands and meal plans. I like to have my vacation planned and paid.

          1. Tartar Sauce

            Agree 100% Linda.

    2. Kathy Skipper

I agree it makes the lines much longer. I found that even rides that commonly only had a 5 to 10 minute wait were getting so that the waits were over 30 minutes. When they first started fast pass you could only get them once in the park. Those were better as everyone had a chance to get one and usually reserved them for the more sought after rides. With fast pass plus you pick one ride that is highly coveted plus two more of the lesser rides. People staying on site got to have a further window to choose which meant people not staying onsite couldn’t ever get a fast pass for any of the newer rides. Also some people actually made reservations and chose there fast pass then cancelled the hotel but kept the fast pass. It made for the rides being booked for a long time. It was much better when you had to get the pass once you were in the park.

  2. Jenna Disney

FastPass+ was the best. It made Disney such relaxing and fun trip. It won’t be the same experience without it. They should get FastPass+ back.

  3. Tartar Sauce

Fingers crossed that it is on the way back!

  4. Shellie Karm

I hope it’s back soon! The options make it possible for people to experience their favorite rides without the ability to ride other rides. We have used it many times and look forward to its return!

Not having FP+ has been nice. Lines that were consistently 2+ hours long are 30-45 minutes now. Interesting to see how they will be at full capacity though. I’d prefer a FP+ that you purchase like Universal. Also, you can’t always get your favorite rides on FP+, you can only use 3 and can’t get more until you use those up. I shouldn’t have to go to a theme park and wait in stand-by to ride a ride, I paid to ride rides and the overall experience, not stand around for hours on end. I shouldn’t have to spend my day hoping to get a seat like a flight somewhere .

    1. Rodney Simonson

We were at WDW in early March. The rides with wait times less than an hour were not worth their short wait. The good rides were all over 90 minutes, and I never did manage to join a “boarding party”

    2. Gail

I’m hoping it comes back. It stinks when you spend a good amount of money to visit and sometimes cant even get on some attractions!

    3. Chris Kinney

Any park you go to since the dawn of time has lines.

  6. JEDI

Yes the waits are shorter now because full 100 percent capacity has not been reached by disney yet there are still around 50 to 60 percent capacity you will be begging for FP+ when disney is fully operational because waits will be back to 2 hour lines like before Covid. I say BRING IT BACK it will let people ride the certain rides they are looking to go on.I wish they also had a better system for rise of the resistance as well the one in place is ok but there is no guarantee that you will be able to go on unless you get into the queue. DISNEY IS STILL GREAT THIUGH.

For 12 years we visited Disney World at least once per year. We stopped doing this after experiencing the long lines and limitation on available rides that resulted with implantation of Fast Pass Plus. After visiting Disney twice with Fast Pass Plus (for 4 days each time) we confirmed that Disney Workd vacations were no longer worth the money. No more spontaneity, ability to use Fast Pass on only limited rides per day and MUCH longer lines on all rides in which we could not get Fast Pass – even rides that historically had minimal waiting!!. We went from enjoying vacations during which we excitedly experienced 10-15 rides (sometimes in multiple parks) each day to essentially being tied down to one park per day and maximum of 5-6 rides due to the excessive time spent standing on lines. Fast Pass Plus made visiting Disney far less enjoyable and has added a level of frustration that is a deterrent to visiting – not to mention the serious impact on “return on investment” when the cost to ride ratio is considered. We will still visit but far less often. Just not as much fun or worth the money as it used to be – the magical experience has been completely tainted by Fast Pass Plus. ORIGINAL FAST PASS system was much better!

    1. Rodney Simonson

FastPasses allow you to be as spontaneous as you like, knowing when the experiences you have prioritized will be waiting. Beyond that, the convenience of FastPasses dies not require their use. They do not lock you into anything. As an aside, my gripe is the amount of time required to park hop, when available, because of chosen bus routing rather than dedicated transport. The more people they have on busses, the smaller the park and ride crowds.

  8. Totally agree! we gave up our Season passes because of this. Stand-by waits doubled with Fast Pass+. I have been there before Any Fast Pass system and Both types increased wait times but at least the Original was more respective of people who were already at the parks and not to those who wanted to book their tickets 90DAYs in advance ( for Resort guests)

    1. Michael Mahoney

I liked the old pass pass system. The one where you went to the attraction and could get a fast pass only then. And could only have one “fast pass” active at a time. I hated fast pass +. I felt like I was on a tight schedule with no flexibility. Not to mention getting up at 3:00 in the morning to try to get on the most desirable rides. It ruined the experience for me.

Just came back from a trip at the end of May. I am in favor of bringing FP+ back. It was good to know you had at least 3 rides in the bag with a short wait time. We did use the tricks of going early and staying late at parks to get reduced wait times but the majority of the day every attraction wait times sucked.
What I really miss was extra Magic hours or the after hour parties. I know the parties were expensive but if you could afford it, it was great to be able to repeatedly ride your favorite rides.

      ??

For all of you complaining about FP+, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!! Please stop complaining and trying to ruin it for the rest of us! We go to DW every year (except 2020). We are often there for 7 or 8 days and it is extremely rare for us to wait in line for more than 30 minutes. In the entire week long visit we maybe have a long wait 2 or 3 times total. Most of the time it’s under 15 minutes. If you are using FP correctly, you shouldn’t be waiting in long stand by lines so it doesn’t matter how long they are!! All it takes is a little planning prior to your trip. Make your initial FP reservations for the rides with the longest lines BEFORE you go. Never us a FP on a ride that averages less than a 30 minute wait. Then, after you use your initial 3 passes, you can get more (maybe you complainers don’t understand this part?)! We usually use 7 or more FPs per day and time in between our windows is spent on rides with short wait times. Book your FPS close together when possible so you can use as many as possible in one day. You have a one hour window for each! So if you have one FP at 3-4pm and one at 4-5pm, use the first right at 3. You’ll be done with the ride by 3:30 at the latest and you have all the way until 5 to be in line for the next one. Plenty of time to ride two or even three rides with shorter wait times or to grab food, or do one of the movie/show attractions. If you are even a little bit organized, FP+ makes the trip so much better. Once you get good at it, it’s a complete game changer. We have a trip planned for October and I’m desperately hoping FP+ is back by then. I know the trip will be less fun without it. It’s actually become part of the experience and a fun game to maximize use of FP to see just how many things we can do in one day.

    1. Nick

Yes, of course, the whole point of FP is to avoid the standby lines, if you’re using FP correctly those standby lines should be no more than a very minor part of the conversation. Used properly, FP and/or single rider options mean minimal wait times.
However, I am against the 90 day advanced ride reservations, 60 days for guests staying on site and 30 for visitors staying off site is a more fair option.

    2. Ann

I am so greatfull that you posted your amazing comment. You are exactly correct! I have been so confused as to all of the negative press about fast pass+. I thought I was doing something wrong and illegal!! We do the exact same thing as you and your family! I believe we are using the service as intended, and it works beautifully!

    3. M

You described my families’ experience with FP+ to a tee! We have been doing the exact same thing as you for the last 7 yrs (except 2020) also 7 nights staying on property at WDW and have NEVER waited more than 30 mins for ANY ride. If you know how to use FP+ to its full potential, you won’t wait in any long lines at all your entire trip. Does it take some planning? Absolutely but nothing worth having in life comes easy. We are scheduled for a trip to WDW this Aug and park capacity increases combined with the possible reimplementation of some sort of FP system will determine whether or not we spend the money and go. Absolutely NOT worth the thousands of dollars for a WDW trip to wait in hour+ lines for all the major attractions. Nope not happening. We will spend our money somewhere else. So please bring back FP!

    4. Nate

You all are showing the problem with FP+. I too know how to Game the system or as you are calling it “preplan”. You shouldn’t have to do all that extra work to enjoy an attraction. I moved to the Orlando area a number of years ago and have been coming to Disney my whole life. I have seen the evolution of technology in the parks from no FP to paper to FP+. You shouldn’t have to “Get Good” at booking FPs.

FP+ makes the main line longer because they have to feed from two lanes, or 3 if they bring back single rider. You may be getting on the attraction faster, but you are making everyone else in the line suffer for it.

I honestly feel one of the biggest mistakes Disney made on the parks side was giving such a wide booking window for FPs and Dinning reservations. Yes there are a ton of planners out there who like to micromanage their trips and plan down to the second where you will be and what you will be doing, but Disney shouldn’t be just for the planners. I say go back to a 1 month or less booking window on Dining and day of with fewer FPs offered per hour (or better yet don’t bring them back at all) and things will run a bit smoother with fewer complaints.

      1. M

Game the system? That would imply that anyone who chooses to book a FP is somehow cheating, stealing and lying? Yeah no one is buying that argument. You say your a local to WDW and therefore you don’t spend the thousands of $ as many families who AREN’T local do. So you visit the parks whenever you choose several times a year. We visit once a year and it costs A LOT of money. When you are spending that amount of money to take your children on vacation, you want to experience everything there is to do. You simply cannot do that when the parks are at full capacity without FP. Why would someone such as you have a a problem with that? Because it affects your refusal to plan anything in advance of your “day visits”. If you think Disney isn’t going to cater to the families who travel there and stay at their resorts for several days time, you are delusional. They will bring it back in some form it’s only a matter of time. What that looks like is anyone’s guess but it will be back

        1. Nate

You are implying that I don’t know what its like to pay thousands of dollars for a trip. I have not lived in Florida my whole life and have indeed spent thousands on trips to WDW and Disneyland. Long before I lived here I didn’t plan my days at the park. I knew what park I was going to and enjoyed getting on what I could in that day. If I didn’t get on something oh well at least I got to enjoy other things. I never had the expectation of going on everything.

The FP system has been busted for years. There has been to much inventory per attraction which has lead to longer lines overall. Also Given the size of WDW and the number of attractions it is an unreasonable expectation to go on everything, and again I stand by my statement that FP makes the regular line unnecessarily longer.

Visited in 2012 when Fast Passes were allowed for more than 3 rides at a time. It was fantastic! Visited again in 2018 with only 3 fast passes permitted at a time. It was ok, but not as good as before. Our next visit is this fall. We are really wanting the Fast Pass to return, especially with crowds ticking upwards as the park returns to more normalcy. Otherwise, it will be insanely long long lines..?
Side note: please bring back all the dining plans, especially the Free Quick Service. The phone app orders are causing ridiculously long waits from all the reviews I’ve read.

  12. Shelley

I would love to see fast passes return!!! I do not like the virtual queue at all. So Disney if you are reading this, please return them.

  13. Sarah

I couldn’t care less about FP+! Bring back APs!! I have a son who’s being left out of family plans because his “father” was supposedly paying his and stopped unbeknownst to me and now I can’t get him a new one to go with my daughter’s and mine.

    1. AMJ

Pm call Disney and explain what happened. They might let you get another AP. Especially since it was out of your hands. Be as nice, but upset with the dad, as you can be too the CM on the call. Best of luck-

Overall I like the ability to make Fastpass reservations, but they do slow the standby line down and the mix between how many standby passengers let on vs fastpass passengers needs to be tweaked. There are some rides where they let way too many fast pass people on vs standby. Each ride should be adjusted, for example 10 standby then 5 FP. The tiered system is also annoying. I would eliminate the whole reservation system and make it so that resort guest get maybe 4 per day and offsite guest get 3. Once they are used, your done. No reservations, just get in the fast pass line. There are a ton of fast pass reservations that never get used. If the standby wait is 70 minutes and the fast pass line is 25, you made the choice to wait 25 minutes. The fast pass lines would never be too bad because the passes are limited and there won’t be a bunch of reservations made that are not used either. You could also ride a ride 4 times int the fast pass line if you want.

  15. Kevin

I personally do not miss FP+. The legacy Fastpass system was at least better because it was not as rigid. Having to pick the rides you want to ride well ahead of time and plan the entire day just removes a lot of the fun out of going to a vacation/ theme park because you are rushing around on a schedule just like at home.

    1. KenR

I agree. I do not like trying to decide what park we will be at a s what rides we want to ride weeks in advance. That whole system also causes fast passes to be made that are not used and then are unavailable for others.

  16. Chris Kinney

Seems like the ones that use it, love it, and the ones that don’t, hate it!

  17. Bring back fast pass or something better.

  18. SG

Yes please, bring back Fast Pass. Even better, bring back the old version. I you’re lucky enough to have your 3rd done early you could grab another if available.

  19. Jennie Duncan

I love the WDW fastpass! Can’t wait!

  20. Patricia Jeffree

Of course, because of reduced capacity at WDW, hence shorter queueing time.

  21. Patricia Jeffree

I very much hope that FP’s are going to come back and I really do hope that the talk of having to pay for a fast pass between $100-$300 dollars will put the parks out of financial reach for a lot of people. Disney need to really think of their guests and not their pocket on this one.
