Great article… I had the pleasure of meeting Joe at Aulani short after it opened, it was an amazing 30 minutes listening to him with just 3-4 people, he spoke to each of us as if we were all his friends! The way he embedded himself both into African culture before designing AK and Hawaiian culture before designing Aulani is the true measure of respect to those cultures before sharing his vision with the world… I hope he has a wonderful retirement and can’t wait to visit the Tree of Life in July!!
